Summer V-Box times...

Went out last week and this week and did some V-Box testing. The conditions were far from ideal but still a nice comparison and really shows how much of a difference the cold winter air makes…

Well first off we started with an epic run- Bone Stock F10 M5 DCT vs. ESS VTT625 Stage 2 E92 M3 on 7.5PSI 6MT. Result- DEAD EVEN!

Anyways moving on to the V-Box times…

The GIAC DSG car is still struggling for some strange reason. Logs look good, car shifts like a champ and feels like it pulls strong, but for some reason it’s dying out up top and is lacking downlow. Just changed the spark plugs and still the same issues. Going to try the fuel filter, and also going to bleed the CPS again and see if they’re any air bubbles. Who knows…

As for the B8.5, I ran last week in a slightly better DA. That time was a 12.48s. DA that day was +1403. Last night DA was +1608 and 81 degrees. Also it was extremely humid.

The B8.5 is down 2psi on boost and you can tell. It’s slower than Tsivas’ car whereas my last car was quicker. Can the CPS and Testpipes on my car last been making that big of a difference? Or is that 2PSI really what’s making me so much slower.

My old B8 on GIAC Stage 1 with the same catback and same intake ran a 12.18s last year in the summer. That was in a slightly better DA but no pulley!!

Got some ideas on to why the boost is lower, going to do some research and see what happens…

The GTR was a fucking animal… The M3 after almost 30k in mods really didnt impress me much, for that money he could have gotten an M5 which is dead even bone stock. Tune the M5 and forget it, even the GTR should watch out at that point…

What’s unimpressive about the M3? It’s a much cooler car than a big boat M5.

The M3 overcame a 250 hp disadvantage with its mods. That’s impressive.
The only thing unimpressiveis the price of the mods. For $10,000-12,000 you can get that performance out of an RS4.

What fuel was everyone running?

Everyone was on Shell 93…

It’s not that I’m unimpressed with the M3 I should re-phrase…

It’s more that I’m unimpressed with the value of mods per hp.

30k is a lot of money to dump in a RWD 75k sports car for basically stock Z06 performance

**GTR was on E85

yeah ,30k is incredible. I couldn’t imagine putting $100,000 into an M3.

RS4 $40,000 (that’s a really good one)
JHM full back exhaust $3000
JHM stage 2 supercharger $11,000

$54,000 for a reasonably newish car that will struggle to find anyone faster, and will do so on 93. With 3 passengers. And golf clubs in the trunk.

I’d take a JHM Blown RS4 over any M3 anyday…

Crazy thing is the M3 with 30k in mods and he’s still on a stock clutch and stock suspension…

I couldn’t imagine.

Oh yeah and I ran a stock E90 M3 with Tsivas, my dad and the supercharged M3’s girlfriend in my car with the A/C on last night and walked him so bad lol…

the RS and M and AMG products are brick shit-house tough. Over-engineered. The M cars are mental. The RS has forged internals…for a naturally aspirated V8 making 420hp. The C63 can handle a retarded amount of power with the stock motor, and I believe no changes made to the transmission.

Pretty neat. Saves a lot of work.

Yeah I agree with that for sure, just the way I drive I always needed a stronger clutch and I feel like every car needs to be lowered.

I wish my B8 clutch would hold half of what my dads stock RS4 clutch took in abuse…

ah you were more surprised he hadn’t lowered it. Gotcha. Stock M3 ride height is pretty awesome as is. RS4 needs a little help though.

The RS4 IMO sits perfect in the rear just needs the front to be .5" lower.

I would guess that the boost on the B8.5 is lower due to the gearing change and decreased redline.

That has nothing to do with it.

They have changed something internally to not require as much boost but make as much power.

Good shit, great to see how much “real world” testing you guys do.

GT-Rs ARE animals. That one only has light mods and stock turbos too. 7.73 60-130 is fast, Sub 3 seconds in the AMS Alpha Omega GT-R is simply insane.

Yeah the Alpha Omega is just nuts… 7.98 1/4 mile…

It’s not making as much power.

Issues has been discovered with my dads car…

Air pocket in the coolant system, and a bad PCV!!

PCV will be done Wednesday at dealer.

Might just race anyways, lol.

so pretty much same issue i was having

we haven’t even seen a facelift in the 12s yet though, either S5 or S4

The B8.5 vs. the B8 Stock for Stock makes the same boost, however we see less bypass with the 2013 in comparison to the B8 but hitting the same boost levels.

My old car would hit 18.1psi and this one maxed out at 15.8psi. However the B8.5 has no bypass opening meaning there is a mechanical difference between the B8 and B8.5.

I don’t know what that is yet, but I do have some ideas. I will let everyone know how that research results. I’m on the right track just need some more information to back it up…

Then the question is why did Audi change this part to begin with?

Hmmmm…

I’d love to do head to bead pulls with nws4 at pacific raceways, but he won’t return my emails.

Out dyno plots are pretty similar, minus peak hp (dsg redline cut)
