Supreme Power's B8.5 S4 1/4 mile tims with GIAC

I’m surprised this isn’t being discussed here yet. Looks like some decent times in a B8.5.

Not Street tires not care.

So, not the fastest…and they used basically a DR and probably a light ass rim.

What “bar” did they raise?

They are tied for 3rd fastest against guys on street tires.

Definitely overly dramatic about “raising the bar” but they did prove that the tune is quite fast.

I have no issue with them using R-comps since they didn’t do any better 60’ than the fastest street tire cars. If anything, this shows that their LC can’t produce optimal launches at the strip. If they pulled 1.5 60’ times, I would be more inclined to say that the results are biased/tainted.

I wonder what tune they ran with a mix of 91/100/E85 in the tank. 100 or 104?

Same 60’ as stock tires so no advantage to DR in my opinion…

If I recall correctly they ran an 11.7 on 50% E85 / 50% 91 on the production 104 file.

Pretty impressive IMO, especially bc the B8.5 times have shown to be slower than B8… I don’t even think an APR B8.5 has run yet, that’ll be interesting to see

Who are Supreme Power? Good guys like JHM or bad guys like AMD?

Skid, sorry real busy at work these days otherwise I would have posted ;D. Lol

Fast times no doubt especially for the newer tranny, good for them and GIAC… Don’t get the tires really they’re not needed… Also wonder what the 18 inch wheels weigh? 60s are nothing to write home about, let’s face it the LC in the dsg flash is nothing special like rs4nightmares said… Helps the newer cars though since they can use all of the revs now…

Oh and as for the bar being raised, not sure about that… Ryan is still way ahead, will see what the new GIAC tune does on a b8’ wonder why Austin didn’t run? Or did he?

Bango, I bought my bbs wheels from Eric at supreme, easy to deal with and a great price… Don’t really think they are a player in making stuff for the cars… But I guess we could say the same about AMD, no?

Ah supreme are a GIAC dealer. Gotcha. I’d made the mistake of thinking they wrote their own tune.

Supreme Power - Raising the bronze medal bar

I think that is pretty good on factory cats; especially on a B8.5. Overall impressed with the basic mods they did. I would like to see what they do on strait 100+ octane and street tires. Those wheels are light, but I don’t know the exact number. I want to say in the 19-20 lb. range. The tires are also light in the 23 lb. range for 18" tires (a Michelin PSS that is considered light is around 25 lbs. for comparison).

If that was raising the bar then how low was the bar in the first place. Not to say the B8 S4 isn’t impressive but I don’t think this really broke any records. don’t like the slicks or track tires thats the wrong impression and direction. that was a waste.

Get out and show them how to raise the bar. And what raising the bar looks like. without slicks or race tires.

3rd fastest S4, a B8.5, and it’s first time at track.

Nothing but good job.

Raising the bar, no.

Proof that B8 S4’s are 11 sec cars with bolt ons and Dailey driver format, yes.

Cannot wait to see the new GIAC tune on the B8’s

Why is it a big deal b8 vs b8.5?

Who daily drives on tires that say Hoosier on the side?

Lower redline and taller gears make them slower… GIAC dsg tune will help these cars more than B8, by allowing them to use all the revs as I am assuming they make power to redline… Haven’t seen many B8.5 logs to validate that though…

that’s what I’m saying though…even if the B8.5 DSG was indeed slower (we haven’t seen evidence of this really…our list has barely any)…the TCU tune the car had should even the playing field.

Better that then this:

I think the launch control’s a good option… maybe should have an off/on switch if a lower RPM launch is better though. However, the fact that they’re spinning all 4 tires makes me think that they’re changing more than just the limiter (which is a good thing IMO… but might actually hurt with the drag times).

Still awesome for the car to do really well on its first time at the track with some basic bolt ons.

Austin ran their MK6 GTI K04 shop car with their new K04 file. Ran an 11.6 lol.

Quattro, Thanks for the clarification… Didn’t think Austin would go to the track and not run anything… As for the LC I guess the jury is still out… I’m not buying them spinning all 4 tires, sorry the car is not making that much power trapping mid 116mph… Unless of course they are running on bald street tires? In the 250ish passes I have made I have only experienced wheel spin on a few and usually still cut high 1.6x or low 1.7x 60’s… Just my .02

I agree prime, spinning tires maybe because they are just dirty or bald. At the end of the life of the stock pirellis, I went to the track and had awful wheel hop and short shifting.
