The top of the prototype design was loosely based off the ‘ribs’ on our existing RS4 kit. It may be hard to see. Take a look at the top of the pink charger compared to the other ones to see how it’s different in design.
OK. Answer these questions please (if you can’t, just say can’t beside that question)
-
Are you updating the RS4 kit?
-
Or are you offering a bigger/badder stage 3 APR B7 RS4 kit alongside the existing TVS1320 kit (i.e. stage 3 AND stage 4 etc)?
-
If you do make a bigger RS4 kit, will TVS1320 people be able to upgrade, or would it make more sense for them to sell and buy a whole new kit?
-
Did you guys recently buy a B7 RS4 in house?
Thanks Arin.
p.s. what is 4G chassis…is that the A7?
Yes…
That would be interesting then because it would mean they are prepping it to go on the 8spd torque converter tranny’s setups as well. So that would throw the Q5/7 and A6/7/8 into the mix as well. A Q5/7 with this setup would be a fantastic grocery getter.
I really can’t answer any questions at this time other than we have a system coming for the 3.0T and here are some photos I can now share.
There’s a lot of speculation, lots of questions about the blower, price, ETA, power output, torque, this and that, but I’m not really in position to give any answer yet.
I know that may be frustrating, so I’m sorry.
No problem Arin, I totally understand. It’s business.
Thanks for posting the information that you did here on AR. Everyone appreciates that for sure.
+1 thanks for sharing. The teaser certainly has got the buzz going lol. Nice pics.
Would the 2300 fit in that neat little package (for the RS) asusming they will be doing the same for the RS4?
Richi said it on AZ already, but it’s quite comical that APR is about to release their stage 3 while everyone else is struggling to put out stage 2.
not that comical
APR’s stage 2 wasn’t any faster than ‘everyone else’s’ stage 1 before APR revised the heck out of the tune. The guys who waited were rewarded with the choice of a number of great stage 1 options. Happened in the B5 world too. First out of the blocks meant you gathered market share…but then you got crushed when other options came to market. Happened again with in the B6 world…B6 tuned/intake/exhaust S4s were barely faster than stock before JHM and Fast Intentions came along. Check our list…is it littered with APR cars? Hell no.
So being first isn’t exactly so awesome. Richi is famous for being ‘first’ with mods. First with exhaust and tune on a B6 S4. the stuff was so useless, he sold it and bought an RS4 as soon as he could. Then he was one of (if not the) first with exhaust and tune on an RS4. His car was barely faster than stock (if at all), losing by multiple car lengths to Kryptonik’s M90 supercharged RS4 (Kryptonik’s best 1/4 time was 12.6 @ 110 …which is only 1 tenth and 1 mph faster than my stock RS4 went in similar conditions).
The SLOWEST company on those two platforms (JHM) turned out to be the best.
Now Richi owns a B8 S4. He was first with a bunch of things on it (headers, stage II etc.)…and again, is he fastest? Not even close. The headers do, as near as makes no difference, next to nothing, according to the data we’ve collected. So $2500 for headers + $1200 engine pull = maybe 1 mph and 1 tenth. Awful.
Patience is a virtue in the Audi tuning world.
I don’t know if the b8 s4 is following the same history as the rest. Maybe I see it differently because I didn’t get into the Audi scene until the b8’s were just coming out. TBH it sounds like Richi is a bit foolish in his purchasing, his car is only running mid-low 12s and he’s probably invested way more than anyone else.
2+ years into the b8 being out, noone but APR has cracked 11s.
The b6/7 s4 and rs4 platforms are an exception because noone was making them faster (save a couple supercharged ones) until JHM worked on them.
I think APR has a pretty decent track record, look at their work with the 2.0 fsi/tsi engines (mk5/6 vw’s) those have been out quite a few years and APR is still consistently top dog with them.
From a business standpoint its a complete win. They release the first tunes = fastest b8s. Other tunes come out that are more developed and aggressive, they revise their tune. Again, fastest B8s. Other companies will get their stage 2 stuff out, maybe just as fast or faster than APR, but by then APR will have their stage 3 out or almost out. So again, they will have the fastest b8s. By the time anyone catches up the platform will be pretty old.
The v2.0 calibration is nearly identical to v1.0. The biggest exception is map_sp compensation based on IAT.
Looks good! Good luck with tune, etc.
I am thoroughly entertained by the comments made by the B8 S4 guys on AZ in this same thread over there.
“540whp/ 480tq” - lolz
My car went nearly an identical et to 1fastscams4 in worse conditions, trapped higher and 60 footed better on v1… Heck i didn’t have the go fast stickers he did… lol. No one pushed the revo tune with race gas… Errrrr. Someone we know did and how did that workout… Slower and boom…
IMO apr is better as they own(or did own and Arin does now) the car and have the most resources… On top of that their customer service is top notch… As most know I had two issues with apr… They covered all costs and then some to correct them in short order… I had Arin working with me via phone and email on a holiday… Personally I’ll give up a little power for engine longevity, drive ability, and service…
Again, just my .02
Nobody is really debating that Apr is nice
I am just saying criticizing the other companies for not being as fast as Apr with product release makes no sense
As for Meistah you are effectively saying the four most dangerous words in anything be it business or investing etc.
“it’s different this time”
That doesn’t usually work that well. No it wasn’t just the 4.2. That was the same story with the early b5 development as well…and just about every platform. Apr and awe battled it out to be first at everything for he b5. Does ANYONE mention Apr or awe when asked what the best route is to modify your b5 s4 today? The first guys are rarely the winning team.
Apr may yet be the wining team in the b8, but we have to play all nine innings and then add up the score to determine that.
Lol not quite what I was saying. They didn’t make the stock b6/7 S4 or RS4 any faster with their tune or basic hardware years back. Years later, they made the b8 s4 waaay faster than it was stock with their tune and basic hardware. Safe to say that’s “different this time”
I don’t know the history about the early b5 development. I was learning to add and subtract when the b5 came out Regardless, APR was a startup company back then, can’t compare it to what they are doing today.

I honestly wouldn’t base anything going forward on what happend back in the B5 S4 days. It’s nearly 2013 and a lot has changed internally and externally. Public knowledge is massive on the B5 S4 at this point and the amount of resources poured into what works and what doesn’t is well known. A startup new company tomorrow could become the B5 S4 KINGS and it wouldn’t prove a thing. That said, our own products from back then could surely be bested by our own new ones if we ever chose to do so. I’m confident of that, especially given the second we got back our old B5 S4 Stage 3 car from GMP one of our calibrators looked into it and 15 minutes later, it was a whole new animal.
Over the years some companies have grown, and others havent. With that growth comes access to information, resources and knowledge, some of which is nearly mission critical and will be even more so with ever newer platforms.

Bingo. 8)
i have a huge problem with being an early adopter with EVERYTHING not just cars lol. for better or worse i enjoy testing products both beta and not. i enjoy being part of that loop and the development process. even if i go through several different parts until i find what i like, i enjoy it. it would only be foolish if i was blind to whats actually out on the market, i just lack patience lol modding things are one of my biggest vices.
will i do the blower? for sure. will there be something better in time? absolutely. thats just this industry, id rather act now and get the most out of my car because who knows when i get the itch for something different.
if JHM or eurocode or whoever(reputable) came out with a better blower and engine rebuild, guess what… id do it even with a stage 3 on the car already… i have problems…
^^lol Modders’ anonymous.
Step 1 complete…
“We admitted we were powerless over modifying our cars – that our lives had become unmanageable along with our bank accounts.”
believe me when I say it’s not just cars. I have a SICKENING remote control car addiction, aquariums and I can really go on and on lol
