terrorism activities at Boston marathon.

A close family member is there and I got a call just a few hours ago. She was injered quite bad dont onow if it was croud panic or explosion related… the conversation was more screeming then clear information. So far 5 bombs two went off killing at leaset 2 injuring many many others. .the grest work of thr bomb and task squad has found and dissarmed 3 other bombs… we were speaking on the phone when the entire Boston cellphone grid was shut down due to the government blocking cell phones…they thunk the bombs were csll phone triggered

If you have loved ones out there check on them

Sorry to hear that, Chris. Such a horrible tragedy.

I just heard about this on my way to work this morning…

I hope everyone and their family are safe, sorry to hear about your family member i hope she recovers quickly.

I didnt get much information about what happened, but do they believe it is terrorism or physco bomb maker

They believe it to be terrorism at this point due to timing of multiple blasts and the fact that it appears ball bearings were used in an IED style bomb.

It’s really sad to me the level of cowardice that exists in this world with acts of terror like this. So sad.

My prayers are with all effected by this heinous act!

A very tragic event no doubt. I suppose, by definition, the entire event was an act of terrorism, but it could have been done by any group or individual including those that reside and are native born to the US. I hope the officials do their due diligence in solving and apprehending all parties involved.

My best wishes on a speedy recovery to your family member Chris, sorry to hear.

I bet it is white Americans who did it. Pretty amateurish shit. Fuck them.

Imagine going to the marathon and losing your legs? Or tour kid?

Wtf.

chris, sorry to hear about your family member, best of luck to her.

it’ll be interesting going to boston tomorrow night

I’m thinking domestic terrorism at its “finest”. Anyone remember the ball bearing scene in Swordfish? I’m thinking someone wanted to re-create it.

I was working with a client and she saw it on the tv in the room. Freaked out because her mother was running in the marathon. After a few phone calls we found out she got to the finish line less than 1 minute after the bomb went off, very close call.

Sorry to hear about your family member chris, I hope she is ok.

^^^the runners were fine. I think a lot of the b.s. news coverage saw that one 70 year old man ‘running’ in the race fall down from the shock when bomb 1 went off, and assumed the runners got blasted. Not the case. You can see that the volunteers and people who were 20 - 30 feet closer to the blast didn’t even budge. Just covered their ears/heads.

The bombs blasted the people standing on the sidelines. It’s mental.

Sorry to hear about your family member. Wishing the best… My heart absolutely sunk hearing about this. I have alot of close friends that live and work right in the area. One friend was on her way to the finish line but stopped to get a beer about a block from where the bombs went off 20 minutes prior. Scary to have this shit happen so close to home.

Very sorry to hear about your family member Chris. Hope she is recovering…

I was on the train headed downtown right after it happened. I had no clue it was a terrorist attack. Someone in my office mentioned a gas explosion right as I was walking out and I didn’t think much of it. I tried to look it up on my phone while I was on the train, but the cell service was down. By the time I got down there, it was pretty much total chaos.

I was headed in to meet two of my best friends, who were at a bar two blocks away when it happened. They decided to have one more beer before heading out to the finish line or else they would’ve been right there. I’ve personally been at the finish line 3 times in the past 5 years. This year I got caught up at work and couldn’t leave on time. Thankfully.

Thanks guys flew out last night and were all going to go see her later today. Crazy stupid and really makes me so full of hate… I can take someone older getting injured as long as its not life threatening or really debilitating but to have a small kid killed in all this…fuck who ever did this…no act like this should be marginalized. Im sick of watching tv and hearing one side of the government blame the other.what a buntxh of asswholes.

Lol I thought your were hatin on AMD and then realised it was a typo.

Back on topic, it totally sucks. Just plain sucks. Hope you are ok, thoughts are with you.

^^ i thought the same thing!!

I was like uh oh… AMD is gonna get it now!

How is the family Chris?

Hahaha fixed…

We are waiting for some results. I think it looks worse then it is. From what I was told she was interviewed 10 different times. She is in a private care facility now. They dont allwow visiters like normal hospitals

Chris, sorry to hear this… I hope she is ok/gets better… Such a shame all around really…

Peace and our thoughts are with our Bostonian friends…

Thoughts are with you Chris.

Saki, were you watching the initial coverage? News hit about an hour after the bombing occurred, I thought this was weird. My initial impression was it wasn’t that bad (based on the initial coverage) then more footage rolled in and my thoughts changed. I ask because of your previous post in this thread.

I was watching it as it unfolded on the news.
Not sure what you’re referring to. I said amateurish shit for a few reasons

  1. The timing. The bombs went off two hours after that area was absolutely teeming with people. There were still plenty there but it was way after the leaders finished (nearly 2 hrs after) which is when the spectator area is mobbed.

  2. The reports of maple unexploded devices. That’s amateurish. Like that guy in times Square who had three of these pressure cooker bombs in his car. None went off.

  3. The size of the explosions. As bad as it is to downplay the carnage caused, it was not really that bad. For perspective:
-more people have died RUNNING THE RACE in the last ten years than died YESTERDAY from the bombs.

  • more people were admitted to hospital from RUNNING THE RACE last year (135) than were admitted to hospital from the bombs yesterday.
