The Competition

is the lambo still awd?

and for standing mile kinda cars I’ve always liked the lmr camaro

most of them are except for the balboni edition IIRC

iirc some of the turbo kit manufacturers disable the awd in them

Good god, do want.

Would love to hear CV’s thoughts of the new Shelby

I don’t think they do beem…it was just something to do with the dyno.

i.e. the video of the R8 dynoing (heffner I believe)

I don’t know the exact reason (other than possily customer requests?) but some of the companies do offer the rwd only conversion on the big power set-ups. UGR definitely does. Maybe the front axles or drivetrain bits won’t last under the new power? Could be some owners want less drivetrain loss? I really don’t know.

Yeah that makes no sense to double the power and say adios to the AWD. Weight reduction maybe? I bet there is a few hundred pounds tied up in the rest of the AWD system

that guy doing the texas mile in 250 was SQUIRRELLY AS FUCK.

Makes you understand why a Bugatti Veyron costs $1.5 million to go 250 vs. getting a used Gallardo for $120,000 and pumping $60,000 into it to go 250.

Whenever he let up near the mile mark, the car just INSTANTLY fishtailed and spun uncontrollably. It was like lift off oversteer…while going straight. Incredible terrible looking lol.

here’s another…parachute sends him cartwheeling

this Ford GT on the other hand looked very comfortable at 252. I guess from the get go it was engineered for a top speed of about 220 mph.

Similar thing happened to the AMS GTR when he pulled the chute as well

I read in the latest issue of C&D that the engineers for the engine of the new Viper used forged rods and pistons so that people who turbo and supercharge them have a stronger block to start with. He said that people turboing them were complaining about the weak rods and pistons in the old model so they forged them to make them happy. Pretty cool to see the acknowledge the aftermarket

That’s hard to believe. I guess a viper is the exception to the rule (the rule being ‘more than 99% of first owners of these cars keep them bone stock so the OEM doesn’t give a fuck what you say about wanting tunability’.

Here is a shot of the article. The Winkles guy is the powertrain chief engineer

x2, it sounds like a good sales pitch but I bet they had their own more important reasons for the switch.

10s all motor? Sure why not

ummm wow. . .I wonder how much “weight reduction” was done. Regardless it probably wasn’t anything stupid, but that’s still a pretty stupid fast time.

Weakest burn out ever, LOL

Nothing gets me pumped for a drag race like some good ol boy country music ::slight_smile:

I love that car. Modern day muscle at its finest.

wasn’t that bad!

maybe if it was a burnout contest it was weak. But he’s just cleaning them up a little and maybe getting some heat in them.

The weakest burnout ever is the one I do in my RS4 before I run if the tires are covered in shit. Just a little VROOP! for 1 second then I jump up and stage.

I wonder if bangoman has that on video from April 6th…?

Renntech has proven mods it seems. The cost of those mods…not cheap. That run was very impressive to say the least.

Domestic power at it’s best.
