The Competition

^ Hop in a S63 - very similar feeling.

I wonder how much they are holding back on that amg s63?

Not a whole lot on the performance pack cars.

Here’s some crazy stuff. The X5 ///M…5300lbs<–keep that in mind. Renntech has them running high 11’s. Here’s the astonishing part…1.6 60 foots. 1.6 in a fucking SUV!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=xEFLxRn4jPU

that’s not astonishing. Big torque + 4wd + weight on the wheels = traction and a good launch

Go check the diesel truck 1/4 mile lists or the JEEP SRT8 1/4 mile lists. They’re superstars the first quarter of the track. Then they are less exciting from 330 to 1320 feet.

For perspective, the 1/8th MPH is the same as Dan and George’s JHM tune/exhaust RS4. the 1/4 MPH is 114. These cars are making 600 hp in their sleep…and trapping 114. There’s the reality. But out of the hole they’re incredible.

Here’s one of the fastest SRT8 Jeeps. Note the 1.5 60 foot time. And the insane consistency.

gearing and stupid fast shifting slushboxes help and aerodynamics hurt, fast trucks are funny to watch

^^^the faces on guys with M3s and Rs4s who get fucking WALKED by fast trucks are even funnier to watch. Like me

In 2010 in my B7 S4 I got raped by a Grand Cherokee SRT8…he ran 12.20 and I ran 13.4. I had a video camera running in the car, and as he launched and jumped a quick 2-3 car lengths, you can hear me go HOLY FUCK! on the tape. It ended up being over 10 car lengths lol.

The next season that guy had swapped a bunch of stuiff and was running mid 11s up around 120. Pretty awesome car, and a really nice guy. He sold that truck recently.

If I had to get an SUV it would be the JGCSRT8. The new ones are kind of blah. I hate that they did away with the dual center exhaust-that was kind of a trademark for the srt. The new one is still badass though. Just wish the didnt have a 6th grader design the wheels and front LED’s.

a guy in our office has a CTS-V wagon and a brand new SRT8 Jeep. His ‘slow’ car is a 911 Carrera S Cabriolet.

He absolutely LOVES the Jeep…says it is seriously well put together and beautiful inside. He has had every brand of great car you could imagine.

yeah the WK2 are a solid step up in quality, especially in the interior

The SRT-8 and 10 took me at the track.

Srt-10 Ram on the left, and a Srt-8 GC on the right. MPH wasn’t much different though.

I’m car 158.

Since noones mentioned it yet…

Sat in one for a bit at the auto show last week. Craaaay fast, awesome suspension/handling, interior isn’t too bad for a domestic. I could see my A4 becoming a winter beater and this being my summer toy in a year or two.

is it crazy fast?

The one road and track tested was classic big hp camaro/mustang. Massive numbers on paper, then a deflating balloon. Sure it was cold but come on…trap speed was still terrible (for a 580hp car). For the record, they correct results to sea level in these mags.

Hmmm I’d have to read more on that one… I checked the 1/4 mile list for stock camaro SS they can run as low as 12.5-12.6. Other articles have the ZL1 doing 12.0-12.1

Ordered the Tial replacement turbos for Bootsies 335 supposedly 50-70 wheel more…may be wishful thinking but it will be faster for sure!

really? The ones I’ve been up against at the strip struggle to get out of the 13s.

The new SS is a dog. Reminds me of a stock b6. The grunt is there, but it’s hidden behind emmissions, quiet exhaust, and lethargic dynamics all around.

12.9 is absolutely terrible for a car with that much power. 400hp S4’s are running the same times with 180 less hp

It’s like any potentially fast car. You see 12 second cars do 13-15 second passes all the time because people don’t know how to drive them properly. My friend has a boss 302 (which run low 12s) and I guarantee you he wouldn’t get less than a low 13 second time in it.

We’ll see, maybe I’ll be wrong when people start posting time slips, but I think it’s going to be a really fast car. And the suspension in it is pretty cool technology.

x2

definitely part of it…but I’m talking about a dozen different new mustang 5.0 and new camaro SS cars I’ve seen at the strip the last 2 years. Never run anything impressive (stock). The cars just aren’t as fast as people think. Check the magazine tests with pro drivers. These 550+hp cars are trapping 115…like 370 whp 100tune/exhaust B8 S4 or a 370 whp K04 B5. Those cars are supposedly making 500 whp. See any 500 whp cars that trap 115 in the modification world… (other than PES/VF etc)

There was a GT500 there when we went last fall that was pretty badass (very modified)…and another stock one that was 4-5 car lengths slower than George’s bolt on RS4.

Street tires + 400 hp domestic = 13s all day
Street tires + 500hp domestic = mid-high 12s all day

exactly it’s a big loud show with little results
