The Competition

gearing and power delivery make a big difference in trap too… my buddy’s goat runs mid 11’s @ 117 or so mph, my brother’s T/A runs low 11’s at 127ish mph. The goat is an auto, my brother’s is a manual with 4.10s. Same tuner, similar mods, similar power output.

I’ve seen a few stock 5th gen’s run mid 12’s so experiences may vary.

Just reading about the new Taurus SHO: http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2013-ford-taurus-sho-first-drive-review

Similar performance to the 8E S4’s. Quotes 365hp stock and a 13.7 quarter mile. AWD. Just a terrible interior and exterior styling IMO. Into the 12’s with a chip tune exhaust? I’m too lazy to look right now.

Oh and look it’s powered by a twin turbo V6. They must’ve got a German in to tune it.

Here’s prev gen tuned SHO’s running 12.8-9’s at Milan: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K34CRHtRwms

bango, the fastest new SHO is 12.138 @ 117.51 with a 1.81 60ft time… It is tuned by Livernois motorsports…

I bet CountVohn could get one running a bit quicker than that

APR stage 3 supercharged S5… : http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/481938-2011-S5-APR-Stage-III-Supercharged

  1. that`s not the competition…this is audirevolution lol
  2. APR supercharged S5…old ass news. Thought it was a quarter mile timeslip or something cool

You know I havent seen ANY apr supercharged cars run at the strip, both RS4 and S5. Isnt that nuts...just APRs development car, that count vohn tuned (rocketman`s car) and the blue car that Keith went 11.8 in

NONE of the other guys have shared quarter mile times since the kit was finaliised. I think there must be 30 of them out there.

^ There is a guy in the southern part of my state that an APRed S5. I spoke to him a few times about meeting up for a track day. He told me he is also interested in going to the drag strip so I invited him to come along when I am going.

I think that would be cool to see Speed. You guys should be pretty similar.

We had the quarter mile runs from the guy in South Africa who ran mid 13s (He ran at altitude, and was on the original APR tune…i.e. the one that didn’t really work, and necessitated bringing Count Vohn in). But since the kit was finished, with the updated tune, nobody has run their car. Weird.

so, this is just bolt ons? like some lumpy ass cams etc?

Pretty cool

the end of the video sound effect is the greatest. Must be a lambo V10. Maybe even some turbos thrown in for fun…there’s a little whistley turbine build.

its a zl1 right? sounds like its cammed. Probably pulley, cam, headers, catback and tune

edit 10.32 @ 134 w/
-full weight ZL1
-stock 1.9 liter blower
-stock heads
-stock catalytic converters
-density altitude of well over 1000 feet

ZL1′s mods include
-Redline Motorsports proprietary camshaft
-upper and lower pulleys
-headers
-improved heat exchanger
-cold air intake
-performance torque converter
-Mickey Thompson drag radials
-makes well over 750 horsepower and 700 ft-lbs of torque

I was close, minus intake and heat exchanger work

nice guess beem!

Sounded great too. Of course then I ended up watching 9 second underground racing Gallardos for 40 minutes. MAN I love listening to those things scream.

There’s one that trapped 177. WTF! They can’t seem to launch them verry aggressively so they all seem to do 9.XX even if they’re trapping 140 or 170

lol - those UGR vids are addicting.

That ZL1 was moving!

This is the longer version of the original vid I watched a few weeks back. Both cars perform amazingly. Interesting how the Alpha has the initial power/lead and the UGR takes it up top. It really makes a difference where the cars make power in their power band and the gearing etc like many have stated previously.

is the lambo still awd?

and for standing mile kinda cars I’ve always liked the lmr camaro

most of them are except for the balboni edition IIRC

iirc some of the turbo kit manufacturers disable the awd in them

Good god, do want.

Would love to hear CV’s thoughts of the new Shelby

I don’t think they do beem…it was just something to do with the dyno.

i.e. the video of the R8 dynoing (heffner I believe)

I don’t know the exact reason (other than possily customer requests?) but some of the companies do offer the rwd only conversion on the big power set-ups. UGR definitely does. Maybe the front axles or drivetrain bits won’t last under the new power? Could be some owners want less drivetrain loss? I really don’t know.

Yeah that makes no sense to double the power and say adios to the AWD. Weight reduction maybe? I bet there is a few hundred pounds tied up in the rest of the AWD system
