so I ended up getting to see soad, awesome show
New Order
Fourth row dead center, and often I was literally leaning right on the stage at will (see video of Blue Monday)
Got a setlist from a roadie at the end of the night
Great show.

Gibson SG FTW
never heard of them, I’ll give the videos a listen this afternoon
I saw Primus saturday, only thing recently
I’ve been to Propagandhi recently. They were supported by Comeback Kid. I hadn’t seen either band before, both are from Winnipeg and some Manitoban friends were keen. Punk/hardcore rock/ska/activism!
Propagandhi: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJP_LF0Bw8Q
Comeback Kid: http://youtu.be/9I_z2VRi5vE?t=7m21s
I enjoyed the supporting act, Comeback Kid, more.
saki - awesome on the New Order gig, love those guys. Did they play my favourite tune of their’s? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsh2bK09t34
I’m currently debating whether I can be arsed to drive down to Detroit in May to see Muse. Matt Bellamy’s voice is amazing. http://youtu.be/MYeUK0GvgI0?t=52m22s
whaaaa?!?!
When was Propaghandi in town? love those guys! (more for their older stuff and not so much the new)
They always have some pretty interesting lyrics. Very political.

Love the little O Canada snippet at the end. Good ol Manitoba boys
^^ This was in London. I believe they played a small-ish venue in Toronto the next night. Pretty cool night either way.
Might go and see Death From Above 1979 on Tues.
Never heard of new order? Wtf.
Pretty lights, Skrillex, and a couple others did an outside concert about 500yds from my apt over the weekend, so I walked down to the parking lot overlooking the show for a bit. Not my favorite music, but I enjoy it at times. It was a pretty intense show and I think you could hear the bass from a mile away lol.
Skrillex hads a few good tunes…
If you havnt seen the video for the song “first of the year” you have to check it out… its freaky!
Saw Pearl jam last week in Toronto. I’ve liked Pearl jam since 1991 (they were the second Seattle band I liked after Alice in chains).
They’re fucking amazing live. Really sharp, and one hell of a setlist.
They opened with 3 songs (go, evolution, mind your manners) and then they played all of their 6th album, Binaural, in the middle of the show. Not my favourite PJ album (maybe 5th) but still excellent collection of songs. That’s 13 songs to be exact, so thats 16 now.
Most bands that’s it and maybe one or two more songs in the encore.
Not Pearl jam. They played another three songs (corduroy, once, rear view mirror up to 19 now) and then walked off. No fake goodnight or anything. They just left.
Then 4 minutes later they came back…and played another 14 frigging songs! It was nuts.
They played great covers with comfortably numb, imagine, the real me and keep on rockin in the free world.
They played lots of Pearl jam classics too like even flow, alive, black, better man elderly woman, and my personal favourite state of love and trust.
All in all 33 songs and it was a 10 out of 10.
That sounds awesome. Would love to see them live someday.
We’ll be at Wrigley in August for pj and Wilco at Pritzker Pavillion
Seen pj about 10 times and every time it is great. The first lollapalooza was intense in New Orleans. Pj, Ministry, Ice Cube, Chilli Peppers, etc, etc. Watched Vedder climb the side scaffold and across the stage and hang from one arm about 30 feet above stage during even flow. Back in the day of ten. Have never let me down since.
Can’t count how many shows I have been to overall. Used to go to lots of live shows. Seen my favorite band, Widespread Panic, over 200 times. Lol. Someone mention Pink Floyd. I was able to see them (sans Waters) in the Superdome. Awesome show, mind blown. Always have a favorite of mine.
Glad this thread got bumped. Will post when we attend shows. Most recent shows have been My Morning Jacket in Frisco, The Dead in Soldiers field last 4th of July (best fireworks show ever), Widespread Panic and North Mississippi Allstars in Telluride (which PJ is playing the Ride tour this summer). Crazy to see Pearl Jam in Telluride city park. Amazing setting. Here’s the park/stage

The masses at Soldiers Field was insane, 95,000 strong. Also was at Jerry’s last show there.

Hanging near Walton to open the show.
Oh and I want to see AC/DC and bands no more, wish I had seen the Pixies and don’t want to miss out on seeing the Smashing Pumpkins.

Who is Jerry? What are those stadium acts? Not many bands can play a stadium.
1992 you saw Pearl Jam at the second lollapalooza. They weren’t on 1991.
1992 was mint. Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and on the SIDE STAGE you had Rage and then PJ/SG got together for Temple of the Dog
Awesome.
1993 was good for Alice in Chains Rage and Tool. This is the poster from when they were here…

^ Love me some Dinosaur Jr! Band named Built to Spill is pretty good and in the same spirit. Caught them local last year. Very impressed.
Jerry Garcia. The Grateful Dead…
Thanks for the reminder. Might have been less than 100% coherent at times in those days. I did remember Vedder climbing the stage the though. And Ministry’s stage setup freaked me out during nightfall. Intense. Butthole Surfers, Gibby on stage with them and others that day. Either singing or just spinning on stage making an ass of himself. Fun to experience at the time.

Want to say that the lineup was not always the same back then. I think possibly the Beastie Boys (maybe Cypress Hill) were a side stage and also Jesus and the Mary Chain?
Another great lineup I caught back in the day was Blind Melon, Soundgarden and Neil Young at World Music Theater in Tinley Park, IL. Awesome random mix.
Oh, and Blues Traveler was incredible the first 10 years or so. Actually saw Dave Matthews band open for them at the State Palace theatre in New Orleans.
Tough to list top 5 attended concerts; take a shot:
- Pink Floyd (Superdome)
- Jane’s Addiction (Phoenix)
- Widespread Panic (Tipitina’s)
- Grateful Dead (many)
- My Morning Jacket (Fillmore, New Years Eve show)
Very difficult to qualify and frankly that 92 lollapalooza might have topped them all but Floyd was badass.
See, that list is shot. Cannot leave out first concert ever attended, RUSH Power windows tour, followed by Hold Your Fire tour, Presto tour. Interest waivered a bit following release of Roll the Bones. Most recently, Timepieces tour. Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughs final show at Alpine Valley, dozens of Allman Brothers Band shows, Van Morrison at the Hollywood Bowl. Farm Aids. Beck was awesome!
Memories…Ha!
