The F1 thread...

Seeing as there’s enough fans here, and we’re only a few weeks away…let’s get this started with some interesting news from the Top Gear test track.

Yup. Hamilton. 1:42.9. Gotta love that, a full second faster than Seb. As much as I hated Lewis in 2007, his driving became one of the only things I loved about F1 last year.

And his scorned “friend” Adrian Sutil is back, who showed up in Barcelona with…lol…a girlfriend. Hopefully he’s more convincing in his shootout at Force India, because Bianchi has some pretty strong people pushing him to get that seat.

NASCAR!!!

Booo. You’ve defected entirely…

I like both!! Nascar/F1 , it is possible!

I don’t believe Sutil with a GF

My daughter runs better than Sutil.

Anyway, after winter testing nothing is clear. Hamilton and Rosberg made the Mercedes look good, but everyone still thinks Red Bull has the best car. Seeing that the rules didn’t change much from last year, I can see the RB9 being the car to beat. My hope is that the tires don’t screw things up.

Looks like 2013 just rolled over into the next race on the calendar. Well no surprise with the Red Bull lockout of the front row…but gotta love the chance of a spoiler with Hamilton up in third. Dumbest team as always is still McLaren, so much potential always wasted with stupid decisions like going with slicks in Q2. Well without a number one driver, really, McLaren may as well concentrate on 2014 anyways…

I think Button is a worthy number 1. But the team as a whole is in some disarray. Would love to see Kimi there in 2014. Although, he’s doing just fine in the Lotus. I would love to see Kimi up there fighting for the championship.

Kimi is #1 in my books.

My favorite comment of all time

I can’t watch the video but I bet it’s the “was taking a shit” one.

Yeah, it was ^^^ “having a shit” bango. Kimi is such a drunk bastard, we went to Monaco in 2004 and after the race he was out at 4am, we were leaving a club and his crew and Miss Finland were going in. Kimi had been left on the street, stumbling and he finally sat on a car bumper…I tried chatting but he was soooooo fucked, he was dressed in baggy clothes like a kid who would ask you to buy smokes outside the corner store. I couldn’t believe Mclaren would let their asset loose like that.

To me, Kimi has as much natural talent as Lewis, Fernando, Seb, but he has maybe an even better feel for race strategy and tires…it just seems like sometimes he gets bored if he isn’t in the top 5.

My fave Kimi quote was from last year in Abu Dhabi, we use it all the time now: “leave me alone, I know what I’m doing”… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThWq5WN32_c

I still like RB for constructors and I’m going with Seb for 4 in a row for the drivers championship. How often has one driver won the championship 4 consecutive times?

^^^I am trying very hard to forget the last time it happened. I appreciate Schumi so much more now that he’s retired.

These way-the-fuck-east races suck for my sleep.

I’m taking a longshot and someone I only began to respect recently, i think Massa is on his game, if they let him race and not fuck up his strategy for Alonso’s “binifit”, he can do it today.

The Mercedes may be pretty strong if it rains, my guess, since they are fast but lacking the downforce of the other top cars, and seem to rely on balance and mechanical grip more than extreme aero trickery like the RBs and the McLarens. Balance and predictability usually gets the job done when it rains…

Well, Vettel looks like a bit if a prick, Hamilton has grown up a lot, Mercedes are looking fast and McLaren are not.

Really? I see it reversed as Hamilton being more of a prick…I think Seb’s a bit arrogant but not so much so that he does douchbaggy things that I know of…

Bang-on, B. Watching the faces after the race and especially on the podium, it looked like a funeral…puckered lips and furrowed brows on Ross, Adrian, lol Webber looked like he was going to cry…I was waiting for another “number 2 driver” comment or something memorable, but that’s where Webbo really let us down.

Reminded me of the Schumi-Barrichello podiums we’d see years ago…If history is any indication, it seems Vettel has 4- or 5-times consecutive champion written all over him, lol.

Loved Nico’s comment, “Remember this one” hahaha

Ha next time you two come early before Cayuga and we’ll watch the 8am european races then head out…would be great. Driver wise…Bear—>Vettel, Bango—>Button, JSpazz----> Hamilton? that right then?

I think Vettel looked like a prick for disobeying team orders. My understanding is that Webber had wound back his pace to get home in one piece and Vettel had been told the same. And then Vettel took it upon himself to start racing again. Like it or not, team orders are legit. Vettel IMO looked like a bit of an impetulent child.

Hamilton seemed suitably embarrassed about his podium. He even said he thought Nico deserved 3rd. Lewis seemed rather apologetic and grown up about the whole thing.

Hamilton needs to remember which team he races for…

Was that the Australian Grand Prix? I missed that race…
