Very cool video!
Very cool video!
That is a nice video…expensive cg…I like ricciardo and hope he gives SV a hard run to 7th place…xD
Interesting comment to an article, found it more telling than any real journalism I’ve read so far.
[quote]Got to say after sitting in Prost stand - final corner onto pit straight - my overwhelming impression today was that ALL the cars sound like crap! Didnt even wear ear-muffs to be able to hear the radio commentry and the on/off electric/petrol power is totally misleading to those who can feel/see whats going on by the sound. I really hated it.
The two most impressive performances in FP1 and FP2 - biases aside - were Alonso and Ricciardo. But who knows at this stage what relative programs were. Alonso was clearly at all times doing more better than Raikkonen. Ricciardo was doing all the good laps that Red Bull were short of in pre-season testing, with Vettel the occasional glory effort. Mercedes were very strong, McLaren not so much. Williams a little disappointing after pre-season, but letscsee what happens in FP3 and Qualifying tomorrow. Lotus may as well pack up and head of and get ready for Malaysia. Sauber just as bad. But did I mention the sound! Totally pathetic.

I can’t believe Rosberg just did a Schumacher in quali. Ultimate tribute there.
I guess this is a test to see if Lewis has matured, or will he lose it on his good friend

…and I can’t believe how shit the new cars sound. That’s really disappointing.
Sounds like a bunch of 911s. Awful.
On board they sound like aprilias

Actually 911s sound nicer. But it’s to be expected with the turbo, like 80s F1…nobody complained then. In person, the v8s were absolutely unbearably loud and not as aurally pleasing as the v10s. Fwiw everyone loves a cross plane V8 sound but that’s not what F1 had.
Turbos don’t make the engine sound bad. The engine does. Turbos just kill some sound and add turbine whir.
In person and on telly the V8 F1 engines sounded fantastic. As did the V10s. Not sure anyone is confused about them being crossplane V8s. It sounds nothing like say my car. Mickf29 had JHM exhaust on his RS4 and he said it sounded F1 like. I wondered if he knew what F1 meant when he said that.
Hamilton is really being bitchy with Rosburg. F1 is comical. The trophy raise on the podium was great.

I’ve spent lots of seat time in front of a couple flat plane v8s. They sound crappy, honestly. I think people overstate how awesome the v8 F1 motors sounded.
What you hear now in F1 is the turbine being driven by exhaust and by the electric motor. Apparently Mercedes uses a huge turbo unit and uses the electric motor to eliminate the lag by spinning up the turbo.
Anyway, more of the rosberg incident for comparison…Schumacher was more believable when he did it

you think it was deliberate? That shows weakness if it’s true. Lewis will chew him up the rest of the year.
It’s the one track where you can squeak out a win if you’re an inferior driver but start ahead, cars being equal. That was not lost on him.

Well we’ll see if Lewis can keep his head. Brilliant driver but like so many drivers with immense raw natural talent, they tend to throw toys out of their prams when they feel marginalized (Senna, Alonso, Villeneuve)
