The F1 thread...

I disagree about Vettel. He’s young, wants to compete, just like everyone does. But because he’s young, it would explain:

quote in 2010, “do you want me to race, or look after the car?”

crashing into Weber in rain- during a full course caution, I believe?

and then there’s multi-21, right?

I blame the team management, more than Vettel. If Webber doesn’t get backed up/fair treatment, accept it or walk away from it. So why would Vettel care about following rules, or crashing his team mate out? no punishment.

Vettel seems to be a driver that gets the most from the car. Schumi was that way, Kimi seems to be that way, Alonso as well. It’s one thing to drive well, it’s another to drive in a manner that’s best for the car when it’s not a style that suits the driver’s preference.

fun to watch though!!!

I think Giancarlo Minardi was totally right, there is no way Seb is 2.5 sec a lap faster than anyone else. The car has a ridiculous advantage. For those of you who missed the 2.5 sec a lap disappearing act in Singapore, vettel did it again this weekend, hunting down webber and dropping massa to the tune of 19 seconds in 7 laps, from laps 12-19. I didn’t read any news about it, I just saw it myself.

I don’t care what anyone says, there is something fishy going on. I’m surprised Bernie hasn’t thrown Red Bull under the bus for ruining the racing.

And the drivers, do they think Seb is one of the greats? They all are saying no, prove it with a worthy team mate or fair machinery. Look at the other champions: Alonso has won with three teams and has been robbed of the championship at least twice…2007 in his first year at McLaren and 2010 with his first year at Ferrari… Raikkonen has been successful with three teams and won first time out with Ferrari…Lewis has made the most of his bad luck at McLaren with mechanicals and mismanagement, and when everyone doubted his decision to go to Mercedes, he goes and wins races for them while McLaren is nowhere without him. All these guys can win with anybody.

Watching Seb is like watching Button sweep the first half of 2009, in a car with an unfair advantage like the Brawn car. There’s no difference. When the car is not suited, Seb can’t compete, just like Button, and David Coulthard before them, and Damon Hill before them, heck lets also include my countryman Prost. I rate all those drivers the same. Yes-men champions, do what you’re told, lad, we’ll go far together.

We’ll see what next year brings…but it may be hard to beat Mercedes with a 100 hp advantage.

Glad I found this thread… I’m a HUGE F1 fan…
Back home in the UK I lived about 12 miles from Silverstone… right next to Milton Keynes… the home of RBR
I used to wake up in the mornings on a cloudy day as a kid and hear the cars practicing as the sound would reverberate off the clouds! Epic stuff.

Anyway… I am a Seb fan… you can’t deny he can drive. Time after time he out drives his teammate who has the same hardware…

But I’m a huge Alonso fan also… I agree that Alonso could have so easily had the championship those other years… He also can get so much more out of a car it seems…
And lets remember he’s the only driver who took on Schumi and beat him fair and square… I’ll forever be sad though that we never got to see a true Senna vs Schumi season :frowning:

That’s one sexy looking car! Should be an exciting first race. Also great to see Williams are tipped to have a good car this year.

Funny to see Lewis being outshined by Nico thus far. Anyway at this point it’s Mercedes’ first few races to lose. I predict Lewis up to his old tricks again, maybe a couple clashes with Rosberg behind the scenes a la McLaren 2007
