The JHM RS6-R Turbo Owners List

what’s an RS4r

The K04s I’ve been running for 5 years. It’s a PJ K04 housing with GT28 turbines… It’s why my car is racekor.

Lol jk. I was just messing around with Pinoy when he said he was doing something different than RS6r’s.

In my mind I’m sure Pinoy is doing K05 prototypes. Watch out for prototypes unless they come directly from JHM.

lol what’s K05?

K05-Rs. Sorry.

what’s that???!!! I have no idea seriously. Is that a new turbo being put forth for the B5 guys?

CV mentions these in his most recent post in ZT’s build thread. No specs but evidently it’s another prototype or something.

Lol mysterious B5 turbo will remain mysterious.

It’s an attempt to get the B5 guys what they have been asking for since the RS6 turbo(s) originally came out. From what I know its never been done before and its always been an idea I had kicking in my head. After seeing lots of comments on the available selection of turbos and what people wanted to see, it’s an attempt to see if we can make the golden goose of turbos for the B5.

Did that make it even more mysterious? All I will say is, this isn’t about getting people more dyno sheets. I think the platform has seen enough of that in the past. This is a genuine attempt at getting the right size turbo for the masses. The RS6-R turbo and the RS6-R (T) will make well over 530whp (with the right supporting mods) and we have even seen the OEM modded RS6 turbo make over 550whp with the spool very k04ish. Even with that, people are asking for a different turbo. When you actually make the turbos its amazing how you can just change what you want when you want to. The ko5 is nothing more then an experiment. It won’t be sold till it works and it might take 2 more years of testing to get it down to what JHM is looking for.

The K05 is in the testing phase and its being sorted out just like the RS6 R and RS6 R (T) where they are only given to people who are able to do their own mechanical work and can give feedback.

I thought b5 guys only wanted dyno sheets?
Because when you post about it ask for quarter mile times, u get stacked (by empty headed customers and vendors alike)

I’d “like” a dyno sheet but I demand real world results. When my car is finished I want to know what it can do. I’d also like to provide future B5 S4 owners with the ingredients to specific expectations.

Ha ha ha… :wink:

I;m currently servicing the car after break-in. Re-torquing head bolts, checking plugs, compression test, check/repair and leaks, loose bolts, add zipties to all the wiring, figuring out where to permanently mount the boost gauge and wideband display, remounting intercoolers for the ARDesign bi-pipes.

Car feels amazing. Much more low-end torque, and very quick spool. Positive Pressure at 2500 rpm, and fully spooled by 4000 - which is not a lot of elapsed time.

Next track day at Firebird is May 12th. I’m hoping to have it ready to go then.

Nice!

That’s a pretty incredible list.

Who tuned it? What fuel are you running? What is firebird?

This sounds like a similar build to mine. How long did it take to get it together? Mine is going on 13 months and it looks like it’ll be a couple more - though I did have a couple of issues along the way.

I am tuning it, and here is where I am at:

  • AFRs are safe, but need fine tuning.{/li}
  • Timing is safe, but still very flat.
  • With a goal of being a comfortable daily driver, this first tune is being built using pump 91. I will also setup a couple fuel specific tunes shortly.

I am still researching what other fuels I would like to use, and I certainly wouldn’t mind input! Plan is to start with street legal Sunoco 100. From there, it’s new territory. This place is only two miles from my house: http://www.unitedoil.net/race_fuels.htm. Not a great selection of unleaded, but I’m not complaining.

Firebird = Firebird International Raceway

I started in September. A good portion of the time has been spent waiting for “the next paycheck”, so as to not get in debt. I had everything for the motor build portion in September, but had to wait until after Christmas for the turbos / clutch / bolt on parts.

It’s actually been a nice way of doing it for several reasons: 1) I couldn’t rush things - I ended doing spending a lot more time ensuring things were done correctly, 2) Spent more time researching things, and 3) I got bored and painted damn near everything as I went so it should be pretty easy to wipedown/clean up parts and find leaks.

I started following your build long before I joined AR. These turbos have an amazing powerband. I hope you are fully up soon!
