The Skiing/Boarding Thread

Good jobs on tackling some black runs ynnek! Great feeling when it all comes together. I know the feeling on the cold, it’s -27F outside right now and I struggled to do the shovelling/snowblowing.

When’s it’s that cold I’ll take the snowboard over the skis cos it’s easier to put those little handwarmers in gloves and boots in snowboard mode

I’m probably just a limey pussy but these things are a godsend. Even if you’re skiing they’re great to have around for lift rides.

edit: haha just realised where Alpine is. You must’ve been been fucking freezing! Strong work

Thanks! It was a great feeling. Can’t wait to plan a nice trip to some real mountains out west next winter.

I used glove warmers inside my liners, cupped in my palm, but unfortunately my fingertips still wouldn’t feel the warmth. It didn’t really bother me at all until I sat on the lifts later in the day and the wind picked up. Either way, it never got to the point of unbearable. I may pick up some nice mittens that allow my fingers to move around with a warming pad inside.

I think the worst it got yesterday was -5 windchill so nothing too horrendous…-27 Fahrenheit!? Where are you???

How’d the knees hold up?

My buddy and his family were up there 2 weekends ago.

Many fond memories at Alpine. Skiing, concerts, etc…

I usually carry a pair of hand warmers with me. But it doesn’t really get that cold up here.

Knees felt great. I wore a brace on the injured knee and it definitely helped with stability but it’s still not 100%. I’ve played hockey on it with no problems but it definitely gets sore after a day of heavy use. I believe it is a torn MCL but I haven’t visited a doctor yet… Hurt it a year ago while up to some drunken antics with old college roommates. Not the smartest thing I’ve ever done ::slight_smile:

You should try KT Tape:

It really helps with supporting your joints. I have bad ACLs (from college bball). So when my knees are a little weak/wobbly, I put these on and it really helps. Also helps with my ankles too. Thin enough to wear under boots without cutting off blood supply.

Try them out.

It stays on pretty good, and peels off without taking off your skin.

Just threw some in my Amazon shopping cart. I might be heading up north at the end of the month with a few coworkers and I’ll have a chance to see how it feels. Thanks!

I think you’ll like them. My friend who’s a chiropractor recommended them to me. I always have some handy. They have videos on their site (in addition to printed instructions) on how to put them on.

The season was pretty shitty over here last season. Hoping for a better one this year!

I’ve renewed my season’s pass back in March…
