The Skiing/Boarding Thread

Damn that looks painful. How’d that happen?

The first time at Loveland was about that cold too. Last time it was nice out, it was in the 20s. It was pretty breezy at the peak. Not sure what the wind chill was but I could only handle not having gloves on for a couple minutes.

An iPhone trick I came up with is using your nose to open up the camera from the home screen haha. That way you can just keep your gloves on and use the volume button to snap the picture.

I was night skiing at Wilmot last Monday and hit a concealed patch of grass near the bottom at a pretty decent speed. Got slammed into the ground hard. Didn’t even have chance to react. Ribs and knee are still hurting as well. Going to get the thumb x-rayed on Friday. Woops! Hopefully it’s nothing too serious as I didn’t mind wearing a splint under a larger glove.

Yeah the cold never bothers me too much but that wind really cuts through me on the lifts.

Can’t wait to ski in Colorado. Been dreaming about it since last winter. Unfortunately it wont be happening until next January. Everyone has been telling me that I will learn more from one day skiing out there than a whole winter of skiing up in Wisconsin.

Cool pics. Looks nice out there.

Headed to Alpine for the day on New Years Eve.

Pretty cold. Sub 0 F wind chills again. Had a good time but was being very cautious thanks to the thumb…

Yeah you gotta be careful there. It can get pretty icy in certain spots. I learned this the hard way in the terrain park at Wilmit one year when I was cruising through the terrain park and hit the last jump at full speed only to have my legs come out from under me as I flailed 20ft off the ground through the air and landed on my back. But yeah you can learn much faster in Colorado. It’s night and day difference. Good luck with your X-rays.

Damn that sounds painful. Lucky you didn’t hit your head too.

Thanks man, I appreciate it. Hopefully it’s something that can be fixed without surgical intervention.

Mmm yeah, this looks nice.

That is awesome. Where is that? Looks like the picture was taken from a helicopter.

Hells yes. Personally I would have recommended coming in March but you’ll have a great time regardless.

Haha, I planned well then! Lookin forward to my first telluride experience!

It was really the only time our whole group of friends could make the trip. Plus we got a killer deal on the house we booked. Just got an email from the lessor yesterday:

[quote]I’m not sure how it happened, but this rental got booked at $400.00 a night. Our normal rental amount for this time period is $800.00 a night. I will honor the amount, as it is my fault. I should have checked it before I accepted it. So know that you got a smokin’ deal!

I take it March is better thanks to warmer weather?

Hahahaha that’s great. In that case who cares, that’s an amazing deal. In March there are less tourists, the snow is better, and yeah it’s warmer too.

Keep the pics coming! I can’t go skiing this year for various reasons, but I can live through the AR membership!

I love March skiing, just for the longer days. And is it me or does the snow seem “fluffier” in March vs Jan?
