The Skiing/Boarding Thread

@MDubz - I never got a chance to hit you up during my trip out there, completely slipped my mind; my apologies.

I tried cramming everything mountain related into four days of vacation but ended up falling short and spending most of my time at the resort. We climbed to the summit of Peak 6 on day one but greeted by a sudden “storm” of snow, high winds and wtf-god-is-angry-at-us cold that made the climb that much more challenging.

Peak 8 was a MUCH better climb, thankful for the blue bird day that second day. The ride over to peak 7 was fun but since I can’t keep a line on narrow paths, my ass was planted to the ridgeline every few hundred feet but the bowl drop was AWESOME.

Overall, Breck is an awesome place to ride! I’m a little sadden that I didn’t get a chance to ride Vail or Keystone but three non-stop days of riding at Breck is enough to satisfy me.

Awesome day at cannon Sunday. About 3 feet of powder during the week. Decent night at Wachusett, realized why I don’t go there though. 4 more feet coming this week, can’t wait

Highlight of the day, Kinsman was open finally, 1700 continuous vertical feet of steep trees. Took about 15 minutes despite the swarm of people who had no business being in there (boarders sliding feet forward the entire way, skiiers making one turn at a time).

Man, the Pacific Northwest gets shafted again for amount of snow this season… :frowning:

Went to Wilmot with a coworker immediately after work last night. Skied from about 6:45-10:30. Had a good time. Lots of fresh snow from the weekend and Tuesday night.

I think I prefer Wilmot over Alpine. There seems to be steeper, more challenging runs and a lot more terrain variation. If only the lift system was a bit more modern.

I’m definitely starting to feel more and more confident on skis. Really looking forward to next year’s trip.

Looks like a lot of nice powder out there.

Went to Cascade Mountain yesterday. Definitely my favorite so far. Just wish the lifts were a little faster. The quad lift was the only one that was quick to the top but the line for it was consistently long. Really was a cold day for skiing but I had a good time.

Have you gone to Devils Head yet? Seem to remember liking it better than Cascade

Nope not yet. We may actually head there next weekend. Looks like it should be even better based on reviews. Trying to get in as much skiing as possible before the warm weather comes back.

Ordered some new mitts, Outdoor Research Altis. Don’t see my hands getting cold in these.

Oakley gloves have not been cutting it.

Mittens are usually warmer. Report back on Devils Head. Went there years ago for nye all night skiing. Ah, good old days…
