THINK - I've managed to flash my JHM Tune onto my car...................

Having purchased my JHM Tune (93) from JHM a few days ago, I THINK I’ve managed to download it to my ECU, but I did have a few problems, which were down to my computer NOT JHM.

I did it on a WINDOWS 8 laptop, and Jake did explain that the Flash was designed for WINDOWS 7.

I had a few issues getting the Cheetah cable drivers to work, which I eventually managed to configure by carrying out some compatibility changes.

Eventually I got it working ok.

For us European cars (I’m in England) there appears to be a slightly different Flashing procedure. Here are the instructions contained in JHM’s email to me with the driver download instructions, VPN Download & JHM Browser 2 download.

"Since you have a “Rest of World” or ROW ECU, you’ll need to upload your ECU to our server to confirm that we have the correct file for your exact box code. This is accomplished by setting up the Flashing Software as described in the above instructions and then once you are logged into the Flashing Server, click on “ECU Utilities”. A page with three tabs across the top will show up, click on the tab named “Extract ECU”. In the dropdown box, select “ME 7” as your ECU type. After you’ve selected your ECU, make sure your Flashing cable is plugged into your car and into your flashing computer and hit “Extract ECU”. Make sure you have a stable internet connection and that you have connected your car to a charger or tender as this process can take up to an hour."

So… opened the JHM Browser 2, logged in… and then did exactly as Jakes instructions above. This worked fine and a message came up stating it had completed.

Now… Is that my Flash completed ??? Or do I still have something to do ???

Unfortunately too much traffic about to get myself into a position where I can see if there’s a difference, so at the moment I THINK I’ve Flashed it, but just need to confirm that I’ve done everything, and there’s nothing more to do than find a quiet day to go somewhere where I can give it a good blast.

When the tune itself flashes to your ECU, it’s a progress bar that takes like 15 minutes. Shows the percentage I believe.

If you didn’t sit through that I don’t think you’re flashed.

PM jake@JHM to be sure…

Where in England are you? You should see if any RS4 owners on RS246 want to buy/rent your cable. There are a few looking to get flashed.

There was a progress bar that gradually progressed, it too, about 35 - 40 minutes to complete.

I’m in Portsmouth (South Coast).

As long as it’s downloaded, then I’m happy loaning out the lead if you know someone who’s looking for one.

Regards Jim

If you only extracted the ECU per the instructions you quoted, you did not flash. Go to the “program ecu” tab and follow the steps from there to flash.

If there is a file already available for your ECU, it will auto detect the file to burn. If there is no file compatible with your ecu, we take that extraction and make your file.

jake can you see if there is one for him?

Thanks Jake

Not from home unfortunately. We do have a bunch of euro files on the server though. He will know right away when he’s trying to flash as there wouldn’t be a file to choose

Trying it now as we speak…

No …

Every time I go to Program ECU, I can never get past this step… this is as far as it goes and then it just remains on this screen… been on this for over thirty minutes now with no further progress.

Arghhhhhh I’m following Jake’s instructions to the “T”

Choose single or double stock for your cruise control option

Ok… Trying Now

Similar thing happened to me when I flashed mine.
There wasn’t a file on the system. So had to upload my std rom for JHM to confirm the other maps were ok.
When I did the upload it started then didn’t look to be doing anything. Dru from JHM told me to leave it for about an hour then disconnect.
It does upload to their server.
Flashing takes about 11mins per ecu and has a progress bar.
After the flashing process it says all complete. I also got an email from the server straight away after telling me it was flashed.

Arghh… No, just sits on Step 3 of 7 after I’ve chosen the transmission & Cruise control, then hit the “Continue Burn”… Tried all of the options for Cruise Control, but it just sits there.

The first pages 1, 2 & 3 load up quickly, but then just sits on page “Step 3 of 7”

Surely must be a server issue at JHM’s end…

I know I initially had issues loading the drivers for the Cheetah cable, but those are all resolved and the cable is communicating with my laptop and my laptop to JHM as I successfully uploaded “Extracted” my ECU to JHM .

I’m lost… been at this all weekend.

Thanks Kiwi…It’s good to know it might not be me. :-\ :-\ :-\

I’ll await Jake’s advice, but I “Extracted” my ECU to JHM earlier today.

Not sure if Jake will be able to identify my “Extracted” ECU on their system, but I uploaded it today (Sunday) at about 1pm UK time (About 5am California Time).

Have you tried rebooting your computer? I have seen burn reports come through so the server is working.

At what point should I reboot it…

In between all the attempts I’ve made the computer’s been on and off.
