this is cheap and tempting

I don’t think anyone predicted the RS4 would hold its value…did they? The only RS eperience we have here is teh RS6 and the value plummeted. In 5 years, they were down 70% from new price. The RS4 guys buying in 2007-2008 weren’t saying they’d not depreciate much. Audi made 10,000 of them, not 200.

Anyway, there are like 4 RS4 owners who are idiots when it comes to the value of their cars. Namely, that guy Raudidriver who is delusional about anything he owns, and a couple of his friends. They all think their cars are worth $50,000 but they’re not. Simple.

As for the RS4 depreciating a lot, that’s exactly what you said though. Here’s the quote.

“the fact that RS4 prices have significantly went down”

In reality RS4 prices have not gone down much in the last 2-3 years. They’ve held value better than any other Audi other than the V8 R8 (whihc is STILL $80,000 minimum incredibly).

You don’t remember how over on AZ several years ago majority raved that RS4 is going to hold it’s value amazingly against time… Time proved it wrong though. Probably should’ve been more clear in my first post what I meant with significantly down. However, I don’t think that one could’ve bought RS4 2-3 years ago with around 50k miles in the mid 30s.

Now could some one please tell me which papaya are we talking about here? Link?

And you don’t remember where I just outlined for you that RS4 pricing has indeed held it’s value incredibly well?

Normal depreciation is around 15%-18% per year. RS4 has depreciated about 3-5% per year the last 3-4 years.

Not sure what you are looking for on holding value, but start there. It has indeed held value. As I said it’s never going to be in collector car or limited production territory because there were 10,000 of them made around the world, and around 2000 of them for Canada/US. As limited as that sounds, over 2 years for Audi, that’s not that limited.

I said 3 years ago you could buy a good RS4 with 30k miles for around $45-50,000. I paid in that range for mine from an Audi dealer with 27,000 miles, Audicare and CPO. Today, to find a good 30,000 mile RS4 it’s around $40,000.

That means the price has gone down maybe $5,000 to $8,000 over 3 years. What part of holding value does that not qualify for again?

A member here named 2000S4 bought his 110,000 mile 2007 Rs4 in 2011 for $36,000. He sold it 3 years later for $28,000. Over 3 years it depreciated a total of 22%. Annually, compounding, it depreciated 7% per year, about half the normal market depreciation for a 3-4 year old Audi.

I think he is referring tho a few threads over on AZ where owners were asking for price guidance and other owners were suggesting to start in the high 40’s to 50K and guaranteed it would bring 45K. That paticular one was a Ti edition with like 40K on it one owner. Lots of people threw up there arms when others mentioned it would probably not fetch much over 40. He started at 48K or something and quickly dropped the price down to 40K over the next couple months for lack of interest. Im still kicking myself for not picking up a mugello Ti that popped up in VA that he let go for like 34K. A member on AZ ended up buying it. He didn’t have much interest either.

I agree bc I would regret selling the C2S since that is a fun toy and is appreciating.

I think the rs4 has held its value very well compared to other cars in its class (c63 and m3).

my car cost me 46.5K … 11K on trade in plus tax on difference

was CPO
had 16.2K miles

I think this car on eBay is very clean w/o CPO and one minor accident; listed at 45K…probably can be had for 40-42K … not much depreciation.

But where you see greater depreciation from price level just two years ago are on higher mileaged cars…back then we did not have as many high mileage cars but they did not seem as cheap either.

now there are many more and prices seem lower…that is where the hit on price is or seems to be.

Low mileage…special color with toyz like Stasis MS and Capristo w/ remote…what is it worth today???

I remember that Glut in Cali took months to sell sometimes rare colors are rare bc they do not appeal to the general public. I agree some like them…I do but most may not. Just like having a inground pool in the yard…you need a special buyer.

yup. cars that appreciate are key! No offense but I don’t imagine the other 2 will appreciate or hold nearly as well. The 993 C2S though is really cool.

Yeah, if someone asks for a retarded high amount it doesn’t make the market. Just as if someone sells for a far too low amount, it doesn’t make the market.

The Raudidrivers of the world are just out of touch with reality. They’re hardly representative of the population of Rs4 owners.

the beater…964 as I call it…will and has appreciated and probably even the 97 993 will do as well.

these cars are being bought quickly and at times even being shipped to different parts of the world where they are getting even more money.

remember da beater 91 964 only cost 10.5K and they are going at about 25K now i have zero issue putting some money into that car as it will be a fun toy.

i wonder how much would a papaya or any other limited color one appreciate in the future if at all.

i thought he was willing to sell for 45K which I dont think is that crazy. but maybe when it comes down to it…he then asks for more. his car I would think is a very clean example plus he does have the statis ms on it which IMO is worth at least 1.5-2K.

Haha, that would be a good guess, but after my wife getting her monsoon grey Q5 I fell in love with a new color. If and when I get an RS4, it will be Daytona…unless something pops up that I can’t pass on.

euroswagr – are you in the raleigh area?

if there are some guys local to raleigh…lets meet up one day.

Wow Holy fack…judging by the ballparks being tossed around, I got a decent deal, a smidge under 40, for a 07 full load, without Ti and 42xxxkm’s.

As for value, I feel like the RS4 will be like the old e30 m3’s, 5-8 years ago they were dirt cheap! Now the value of those things have gone through the roof.

Papaya… mmmmmmm. LINK !?!
I would sell my children for a Papaya Ti.

I paid $42 (CDN & includes trade-in of $5500) 1.5 years ago for an 07 with 30,000km (18,700 mi). Maybe a bit high but the car was pristine - not a scratch or scuff on it.

I’m out in Jacksonville, but moving to Philadelphia next week. I’ve been out to the C&C in Cary a hand full of times and never really saw an Audi presence besides a few R8s, but there were huge groups of Porsche guys, wondered if maybe you were there. I didn’t know you were down here.

It’s funny, I love those cars and coffee meets where there’s a few dozen nice interesting cars. Here it seems all we sem to get are Audi meets with 13 1.8Ts and 2 B8 S4s. Or we get things like Ertefa which is all makes, on a summer night where there are literally 1200 cars.

Now that you are going to be located in Philly you can meet up with S4_Saloon … I used to live in Moorestown, NJ and still have a house there. He lives in the same town. Also, you will be close to Mr FlyinPotato … who is from BFE Allentown.

I recently moved from NJ to NC in Oct 2013.

Yes, would be great for euroswagr to meet up with those miserable cocks. What a great suggestion swesna.

Any chance Mickf29, ngng and BenSTlie are in the area too?

Haha, I have no interest to meet them. I’ll be more likely to hit up NY07RS4 or go check out 91gl’s shop, regarded of his JDM conversion…lol

Maybe I’ll meet up with FT in a year or two with a JHM stage 2 RS4. But by then I may only need a stage 1 depending on what shape his piston rings are in. I’ll keep an eye out for S4_saloon’s RS at C&C with his look at me trophies and dyno sheet plastered on his windshield.
