Clint’s 2.7t swap
It’s alive
FT’s and full stage 3 fueling should be in the near future.

wow, is that bagged? looks good, does it run as good? What all of the creature comforts had to be forgone?
no bags iirc, just spun down coils and big wheels… I think he sold a lot of the aftermarket stuff.
cool so it’s a 255 hp B6 S4 now?
WAY TO GO CLINT!
Who is going to tune the FT setup?
Lol.
jfonz is gonna have a go with tuning it.
He still has to wire in the cruise control, otherwise nothing has been given up.
…waste of a chassis IMO
never mind…looks like it was originally an A4
nope S4 with a blown engine
I bet you my friends b6 s4 is faster than your b6 s4.
on a side note, my dad can beat up your dad.
I LOLd!
Good to hear it is started. Has he driven it? Link?
LOL I will never grow tired of Seinfeld references. Good stuff Saki.
In reference to the car: good stuff. I hope everything turns out well for him. That’s a lot of work but if you have a blown engine ya might as well replace it with something you really want. Hopefully he brings it to the track for some 1/4 mile runs.
Anyone have any thoughts on the B6 vs B5 gear ratios in regards to a Stg 3 2.7?
B5 trans (4.11) better gearing for acceleration/torque/dragstrip
Their first couple of gears are a bit short in the 01E and the 3rd is a bit long. Otherwise it’s great for the dragstrip contrary to the claims of many not-as-fast-as-their-dyno B5 S4s. It’s a great dragstrip package all around.
I think he deserves props for doing this. Not a lot of people could undertake that and it could be pretty fast(sorta). I think he did it more-so to learn and prove it can be done.
predict: 12.3 @ 114 on pump
this will be interesting because if it’s slower than a 4.2 + JHM SC on pump, there’s absolutely no point in doing the build. Unless you’re undertaking a 2 year long transplant to save 15% gas money.
I don’t think anyone in the true 4.2 world cares. Its cool to see someone make a car there own. The best part of all this is the utter failure of clints part to play this as a chep way to go. He is such a utter hypricate and has spent 4x his calulated budjet cause its so cheap to do this.
The 2.7T is far from the greatest motor we have already been shown that if you want a real dominate motor do what NYCVR6 did.
I just personally don’t see the point in swapping a 2.7T into a B6. The B6 isn’t that much better than the B5 as a chassis/interior is it? I mean it’s nice but the B5 isn’t all THAT bad. I love B5 sedans. The avants look a little weak from behind…which is a good reason to go B5 Rs4 widebody.
As for putting a 2.7T in a B6, as a general practice it won’t catch on. Half the B5 guys out there are stage 0 1 or 2. The other half are stage 3, and 80% of those cars are not threatening the 11s with maybe 5 guys hitting the 11s on pump gas (no race, no tricks). As a real world big power (425whp/500 crank) daily driver the 2.7T is highly over-rated. Stage III K04/605 cars will scrape into the 11s or run low 12s (i.e. what a JHM SC B6 will do). As a purpose built big dollar build with race gas etc. the 2.7t is EXTREMELY effective but those cars are super rare, and finding a segment of the population that will bother with that hassle as well as a B6 swap will be tough. I mean the guys who talk about what the B5 does on race gas etc…I really don’t think it matters. 99% of the time you’re on pump gas…so why bother with a giant 2.7T stage III into B6 build when you can grab a good B6 4.2 car, add $10,000 to it…and be at the same power levels, if not more.
Of course almost nobody does the massive builds…the stage III population is predominantly just daily driven cars that were forced into stage III by failed K03s. Add in the huge cost of a swap into a much more expensive B6 ($8000 gets you a good running B5 and $12,000 gets a stage III K04 car…$20-25,000 gets you an already BUILT stage III car…$8,000 gets you a raped B6 with no engine or transmission in it) and you see these projects are going to be few and far between.
I’m not talking about Clint’s car because his choices were effectively buy a 4.2 to replace the blown engine (expensive) or buy a 2.7T and transplant (just as expensive).
There was someone on AZ that was doing that, he had a built VR6 and had everything fabed up and was very close to finishing. Suddenly he changed his mind and is now going 2.7tt with 3.0 stroker and 770s
