ECS has a nice guide with their RS grille. Just grab some ramps to make life easier. I’d rate bumper removal at about 3/10 on the difficulty scale (which is always relative lol). It might take you a little while to find the bolts behind the wheel well, but other than that it’s pretty easy. Having a second person when you take it off doesn’t hurt.
[quote]At the moment all the available spots for the review special are taken. I am going to edit my main post to reflect that. If you have already contacted me you are fine and safe but anyone that hasn’t will not be allowed to take advantage of that opportunity.
Thank you everyone for the overwhelming response!!! In just a few hours you have nearly sold us out of our initial run!
Taking the bumper off is super easy. There is also a DIY on Audizine. It’s much easier than you would think, and definitely nothing to be worried about compared to the rest of the install.
From what I can tell on my install: front bumper off, bend back passenger side wheel well, if not remove completely for more room. The rest is fairly simple of right parts right place. Biggest issue with mine was getting the system to burp, they had it burp once or twice, I had it burp once so hopefully that’s all.
Also I am looking at getting my stock air box out back in, dyno, then put my cai and dyno again; they want to look at some stuff that may come from that info…just gotta find where I out that stock box.
Who else here has a b8.5 tuned in Chicago? I know of an APR guy, but that’s it. If be more than happy to meet up, prolly going again tomorrow to do alone more logging and properly prepare this time ( aka remove crap from my car).
[QUOTE=SwankPeRFection;10028667]Eric, let’s make a deal.
Obviously you are willing to somewhat sacrifice your retail price for those individuals looking to pick one up first and do the review. How about you do this. If that deal price does not kill your profit margin by a ton (and I don’t think that it does), make that the NEW price for the system. Give everyone in the community a completely undercut price from what everyone else has and at a MUCH HIGHER quality than ANYONE else has and let the community dictate where it goes. If you sell enough to make it profitable in the next 90 days to maintain that price, leave it at that. If you do not, then move it back up to the current price of $1899.
What’s the best that could happen? Everyone around here runs around with an AMS Boost Cooler System on their cars and their word of mouth on the street brings you even more people.
What’s the worse that can happen? You’re back to where you are now with people slightly disappointed in price and then maybe a few people pissed that they missed the opportunity in the first 90 days to pick one of these up at a price that “was subject to change” based on this deal.
The key thing here is… less for more and you will score! I know I’m asking a lot here, but do you want to sit at the same table as everyone else with just a better suit on (i.e. better product design) or do you want to turn the table upside down and own the room? We’ve all been waiting a long time to have someone come in and just reinvent the wheel. Be that innovator man! [up]

You guys can also review the video ECS put up when they pullied my car as it covers the whole bumper removal… I also have the CPS install pdf’s from APR if anyone needs them but I think AMS said they would have some out within a day so I’m sure they’ll cover everything as they seem on top of stuff…
Oh and you can always rent that tool out… My pulley tool has been rented to a lot of people so far… lol Heck there is a guy on here getting it soon for the 2nd time ;D… lol
Finally, love how Swank is telling them how to run their business from a pricing and margins standpoint… lol
He posted a pic of his AK for David@EC to prove he owned one. But refused to give him the order #. Those guys really went at it big time a while ago about the sway bar bullshit. Guessing he’s had a serious case of the “warranty denied due to mods”…maybe because of online pics or social media, who knows, but he’s a super paranoid guy.
Well they are using 2 wires off the factory pump, the yellow/red and the brown wire. depending how they wired the relay, it seems odd that they ran 2 wires to the stock pump if only a “trigger” wire is needed.
I guess i just need to lookup what the yellow/red wire goes to. im sure brown is just ground.
I will be an early adopter as well. Cant wait to get it on. Shipping says it should be here on friday! Would love to tackle the install myself but I don’t think I will have that kind of time until thanksgiving Having a local shop put it on sometime next week. I’ll be making a review to get some $$ back so I’ll share that on AZ and here as well
Here is a video from my post in AZ so you can hear the pump:
As requested, couple view points, hood open, hood closed, inside the car with windows cracked, from wheel at pump side, from about ten feet away, etc.
Id say the video is fairly accurate sound wise, maybe slightly louder (10-15%) because of the garage keeping the sound in one place and volume levels on your viewing device.
I’m mechanically inclined to a degree but didn’t do the install. AMS is in my backyard, they handled it to write the guide and make sure b8.5 firmament was 100%.
