Thoughts on AMS findings regarding divorcing coolant

Our tstat opens around 195*F, Once open the system is extremely efficient in shedding heat.

There is absolutely no need to upgrade or change the factory cooling system. The supercharger cooling system of course could use an upgrade, but the factory is very efficient.

Bottom line, even if water wetter worked you would see very minimal gains.

So did I, used it before, must not like Audi VW OEM coolant. I thought my oil cooler had a bad gasket at first since the brown sludge looked like oil mixing in the coolant and that is one of the few ways it can get in there.

After some research online I found some threads on a Porsche website where the owner claimed water wetter was causing brown sludge to build up in his coolant. He flushed his coolant and didn’t add back water wetter and the sludge went away.

I followed suit and my coolant temps went from 208-210 driving to around 202-205.

oh, not as bad as I feared. Your right sakimano, I’m in no rush, don’t really even need it for daily driving, but the car does feel a little heat soaked after getting out of traffic. If the AMS kit is shown to outperform by a decent amount, it might be worth the 20 seconds of noise.

Sorry getting used to quoting and posting. ;D. Any way, sakimano is right about waiting to see how this system pans out for some of the early users. I’m waiting until the fall at least to decide between the APR CPS and the AMS APLHA but the little wine that AMS’s pump makes is kind of cool. Can anyone say jet-fighter…! Also the questions about water wetter I’ve used it in previous vehiclesThat I’ve owned and it’ll work with the green antifreeze mixed with water. It’s designed to actually work with water alone and help keep everything cool it’s used a lot when tracks will not allow you to use anything but water to keep your engine cool. This is done for safety reasons because antifreeze on a track can be much more slippery than water alone. IT DOES NOT WORK WELL WITH VW G- coolants it will gunk up your system so do not use it. If I’m not mistaken motul makes a product that is supposed to help the cooling system keep temps down in G- coolant cars but I need to call and confirm that there will be no issues as per redlines water wetter.
