Yes on the r8 tho, are we saying the s5 B8 motor is good for about 200 chp over stock? For a long while? Still impressive, I assume a built motor is what another 6-10k?
Yup the S5 engine safe at 500-550HP levels. That’s where JHM sets them up at. I would sign up for rods, pistons and new bearings. I think the OEM head is fine for even more HP with boost involved. Anyone ever see any feedback out the other engines they’ve built in the past?
Surprisingly I agree about the new TT, its one of the only new Audi’s I like as it has been improved all around. The TT-RS should be insane. This means if they do bring a R6/quattro it will be smaller than the new A4/5 but larger than TT-RS fitting nicely in its segment competing against the F-Type, AMG GT, Cayman GT4.
S-tronic is a dual clutch proper tranny for the R8, but the R-tronic was the original slush box single clutch
Oh I know the system is not a true dual, but from a holding standpoint I thought the r-tronic was proven to hold the turbocharged and supercharged modded versions running as well. Can the s-tronic hold as much power?
If yes, then ignore my comment. I know some people who prefer the r-tronic while, others think it’s trash. I’d probably consider the 6-speed manual which likely holds less power than both…
How does this kit work with the stock clutch? I just got my stock ove replaced because I was never going to go with the APR SC. Also is there a port anywhere for meth injection?
The JHM kit is going to be too much for the stock clutch. Heck even some S5 guys with the JHM tune dont have the stock clutch hold up to the power the JHM tune adds.
There is no specific port for methonal but since its a Cfuge supercharger you can tap in anywhere before the throttle body.Still the Cfuge superchargers are not the heat monsters the rootsstyle superchargers are the APR kit is the roots style. So methonal isnt really a big need. Plus your now adding so much air that you would need to spray a lot of fluid to impact the charge temps.
I just clicked on the link for more information and saw the price of the kit was only 8000 thats crazy cheap it blowes everyother option out of the water. WOW
That’s sad to hear, maybe I can sell the used one. Thanks for the info about the meth injection. Looking forward to purchasing next year! Good job on the competitive pricing.
You can always go and get the JHM tune. Its one of the best performance tunes out there that there is. With good supporting mods it really helps get the S5 into RS4 terittory as far as performance and acceleration. Not only that but if you get the tune when you get the supercharger you dont have to pay again for the tune if I remember correctly. That saves a few more dollars.
I was thinking about that too. Do I remember reading somewhere that there’s a discount if you already have a tuned ecu from them when (if) you go supercharged?
I think JHM really has set up a full line to gettting a supercharger for a little cheaper. You can kinda buy some of the supercharger things over time. They not only add a good amount of hp and driving pleasure but they help get you ready for the JHM supercharger kit.
Like
the JHM tune
The JHM 6 rib crank pulley and tensioner kit
The JHM oil cooler kit.
I think there might be one or two more parts that you can buy that come in the JHM supercharger kit that you can deduct off the price of the kit when you get it.
Adding in the spacers is going to help but thats not a mandatory part of the kit.
Another quick video of the S5 4.2L Supercharged. So far the kit has been running great and impresses everyone I"ve taken for a ride. Turn up the sound and listen as my buddy enjoys his ride.
12.6@ 112 = bad launch and slow shifts. It will get better.
There’s much more in it. Go with JHM guys next time and make a pass with one of them driving and you in the car watching to see what you kind of need to do.
Its got more for sure. My 60’ was 2.0 on that pass. I granny shifted it and just drove of the line. Next time out I’ll have lightweight wheels and fresh tires and will go after the 60’ some.
Just revisiting this thread guys. I know I’m late to the party but looking at installing the JHM kit on my late 2008 S5 4.2. Anyone who’s done this got any tips/suggestions for me?
The JHM kit is one of the best kits out there. And the S5 kit seems to be one of the best JHM kits for the Audi as its set up a little different then the other JHM kits. You have the intake pulling in fresh air right at the bumper. Thats AWESOME and blowers love tons of fresh air.
As for suggestions. Consider pulling your fuel injectors out and getting them cleaned and flow tested. Or even contact JHM and see if they have any injectors they have cleaned and tested. The S5 and the V10 5.2 I believe have very similar injectors and the V10 guys have exposed how bad the injectors can be and get. If you havent done a carbon clean in a while that is a good time to pull the intake send out the injectors and do the carbon clean.
