Forget the quarter what will it do mph wise at a half miler or better yet like JC at the ring cool stuff here. Jealous that I’m not in the big NA motor plus supercharged club. Don’t see why we couldn’t give a 2008 cayenne GTS the same treatment and love to though DFI 4.8L v8 PM me thoughts on that Jake
it’s allocated a similar power level, which you can do with the supercharger.
compare the two with tune and exhaust and the S5 struggles to match a stock RS4. The tune/exhaust RS4 is 75 feet ahead of the tune exhaust S5 after a 1/4 mile.
Thats what is really neat about the JHM kits your adding what I would guess is the same amount of CFM so you get very repeatable results that is hard to agrue.
the S5 is a 12.6 car with the JHM tune and exhaust where the RS4 is more like a 12.2 car. I still think there will be a gap with the S5 Vs the RS4 as the gear ratio is different but the S5 seems to have lots of potential
That makes sense cool. What is a s5 stock, I thought I saw 12.9 which I either imagined, I want to say it’s more like 13.1-13.4? If that is correct and it goes down to deep 11s high 10s that’s an impressive change any idea what these or rs4 does in the half mile?
The S5 is a great example of what I was talking about in the S6 and 1/4 mile times. The stock S5 is like 13.7 or 8 and the talk in the magaziens was saying closer to 13 flat. after tons of testing and testing even by JHM there was no s5 that was going to come close to 13 flat. all the tested cars showed 13.7 maybe one or two better but not by much
I didn’t build it because I wanted to outrun RS4’s. And I’m not thinking the RS4’s have anything to worry about. Although I did try to talk them into bolting an RS4 engine into the S5 or maybe just the heads/cams ;D.
I love the S5’s look and feel. But I hated its lack of HP/TQ and the RS5 wasn’t offered with a manual. The JHM kit solves that problem for me. If the car now has low 12, high 11 power I’ll love it. Because we all know in stock form its a weakling. Or at least those of us that have driven fast cars know this.
I think the various stage offerings is also brilliant. If an IC makes it stage2 adds more HP and pushes it deeper into the 11’s then I’ll pop for that also and cal it good.
I’m not 100% sure but I think I heard RS4’s have forged internals? if true then I could see how/why they can be pushed harder/safer? I think it’ll be interesting to see a built S5 with the boost turned up onto kill :o.
nah, low to mid 13s should be doable in an S5. 13.2-13.4 but certainly not 12.anything (nor is it 13.8)
You could get some ham fisted hack who runs 13.8 but that’s not indicative of what the car can do. My RS4 went 12.75 stock at the same track another RS4 went 13.40 stock. What is right? I’d say the high 12s.
Yeah if we work backwards, it should be like 13.1-13.4 stock in great condition perfect car and driver. Assuming this is a low to mid 11 done. Should be fun. How do the s5 handle compared to the s4 they weigh similar but does the shorter wheel base help handling, track is a touch wider? What’s even more impressive is the 3.0t on the forum going mid 11s with minimal mods, obviously on a roll or normal driving the supercharged v8 would kill it but still impressive in its own right really.
I’m still very interested by the inlet redesign. Anyone heard anything else about this? Every other kit uses an inlet that goes up right where the oem airbox used to be. This looks like it’s taking the inlet over to the driver side. Or maybe I’m just completely wrong.
