Unitronic?

Ahhh hahaha. I was thinking the very same thing about myself as I was typing my previous comment.
But regardless, elitist or not, i think these two forums cater to people seeking different things. This is much more tech and development oriented–which is what i personally seek when joining a car community.

one can join the elitist pricks here at AR, or join the moronic pricks over at AZ. pick your poison XD

I have joined both to be informed and keep me grounded.

AZ has just becoming mind numbing. There are plenty of good, knowledgeable guys over there but they seldom post anymore. Fortunately a good amount of them seem to have migrated over here.

Love how these guys have “dealers” all over, especially posting in the forums with average Joe user id’s… Yeah I’m sure their feedback is factual and honest… Wonder why Toni doesn’t crack down on them… It’s like the sciblades dude claimed he wasn’t a delaer ::slight_smile:

So far we have sciblades, cbirgl, and vwauditek25… anyone else I’m missing?

It is odd that Solo and Unitronic came onto the scene roughly around the same time and in doing so the B8 S4 forum has become a Solo/Unitronic circle jerk.

No more GIAC and APR threads to be seen.

Oh man. Just saw the latest response on the fan topic.
I was hoping the unitronic tune would be better than that. …power curve on the upper rpm bands is identical to stock. It doesnt have a lift like revo/giac et al.

I posted this in the sky wagon thread. It sees people are excited over bring ignorance. Giac and APR have it figured out. It’s clearly proven. But with fake accounts from the B5 guys trying to push the zero results from solo other then nobody asking what about the past results of the other car that got hacked into a turbo nightmare it’s just empty posting. Then Unitronic at least Unitronic has had real results but none of them have been on the B8 S4. Right now the revo guys are trying to help revo figure out how to tune. Why people are to stupid to go with what’s been prove is beyond me. It shouldn’t m come as any surprise that the new b8 wantabee tuning company’s are going to give people deals and ask for buzz. They haven’t done anything yet or learned any lessons.

^I thought APR does not yet have it figured out for the B8.5. Did that change?

that’s funny as hell

any of these guys heard of performance testing? Every periodical on the planet and every car show ever does performance testing as part of their review process.

forums instead want dyno sheets lol (or in this case a butt dyno report from someone who got a free tune)

One day they’ll figure it out. I thought the B8 section DID have it figured out over there, but the smart guys all left AZ and came here. Now there’s nobody holding up the standard of proof, and dyno sellers are moving back in to the marketplace.

Funny how it happens.

At what point does it get tiring arguing with those guys? I’ve been contributing regularly to the B8 S4 section on AZ for about 1.5 years and over the last 6 months or so, 90% of the useful posters have left.

APR seems to have essentially abandoned the platform and GIAC easily sets the performance benchmark (on B8.5’s at least). The people who spend the time to research will realize this, the others will just pay for uncertainty and “flash at home”, whatever that eventually entails.

i agree with the above post, coming from the e92 platform were i gained a lot of tuning knowledge the only logical step was to pick GIAC. I knew there had some problem with the 2014MY but once it was solved i went ahead and cant be more happy.

Especially what i dont understand is people spending 3 - 4K on Tunes which are new to the scene i would understand if there were only 500 - 1000 or so.

Yeah it’s all about the dyno all of the sudden… Jconz can spend hours making dyno charts and posting but no time for the strip… I especially like this quote… basically he saying I need to get the dyno to read a better number so more people buy my tune… No dude go to the dragstrip and post a slip… If what you say is true you’ll run low 1.6x or high 1.5x 60’s and killer 1/8 mile times… But no, lets post more dyno’s… Not sure who in their right mind would buy from these guys…

“Actually the stage 2 pulls harder in the low end as well. I really need to put up a better dyno comparison that shows it. As noted in the op I rolled into the throttle a little late on the final revision.”

EPL getting in on the mix as well.

Its like one big gay dyno orgy in the B8 S4 section.

AZ was good in the early days of the B8 platform. Ron led the charge in establishing the 1/4 mile as the only benchmark that mattered when it came to power adders. After a couple years, though, the forum just went to shit.
Since then, almost all of the knowledgeable guys have migrated over here.

Thanks Brandon I appreciate that! For me it’s how I always knew to check performance, as I always say we don’t drive our cars on the dynos we drive them on the road… Also, most street fun people have is quick stop light races and such so again drag racing tells us how that will go… Sometimes I feel like posting over there to correct these tuners but I’m sure I’d be ridiculed by the new smart folks and eventually banned anyway by the site owners, IE the vendors. Those that actually research anything will end up over here and see what is what… To those that don’t… not my problem…

the biggest mistake Anthony made was giving Ron shit for his paddles. Here was a guy making a great product the people wanted, and making no money on it (I don’t care if he made $100…that’s $0 in my book for all the time and aggro) and they chased him out by making him out to be a criminal. Ironically while protecting what was truly criminal…the dopes who are selling paddles for $700.

That was the turning point. Primetime then posted exclusively on audiworld and audirevolution. A number of people followed his lead. here is a guy who is completely selfless, super duper helpful, and knows what the fuck he’s talking about. On top of this his car is fast as fuck because he knows what he’s doing. Your dream site member. And Anthony basically tells him to fuck off.

At the end of the day, the business aspect of AZ B8 S4 is fine for the site owner. The integrity of information and the quality however is dogshit for the guys who own the cars. Unfortunately they don’t seem to realise.

When you sign up for these sites and there’s an ‘official’ advertiser etc. you assume there is some sort of vetting process and they’ve proven themselves worthy of being there. Reality is they’ve proven their cheques don’t bounce…and not much else. Unfortunately when you hold these guys’ feet to the fire, and vet them as members, you get infractions/banned.

Keep in mind though - what’s the business model for AZ?

I’ve come to learn it’s getting the new guys to go out and spend a chit load of cash on all the various mods. Once you’ve got the upgrades, what’s the point of you staying there to them? Maybe it’s to convince others to do the same, which I think they love if you’re lovey dovey. But if you think critically and challenge other products, then you’re rocking the boat, and I think they want you gone.

The best argument as to why they don’t care is how they have not improved the forum UI. No B8 S4 wiki, no B8 S4 tech section, no B8 S4 moderator to remove junk. They are pretty much happy with attrition and more people buying 1200 CF spoilers.

But anyways, I still see a use for that forum. There are tons of road course guys there that post very infrequently, while this forum is much more attractive for people who like to frequently participate. There just isn’t the same number of people here as AZ, so you are kind of required to participate if you hope to have your talking points discussed. Also, there are some opportunities to get good prices on certain items by connecting with vendors, like the BBK I got for 2.4k instead of 3.5k which Achtuning was trying to sell me.

Hear, hear!

I joined up on this site since I saw Ron and Brandon post here a lot.

I bought the cool paddles from Ron and posted a review on AZ as soon as I got it. Admittedly, it became more of a “principle” in addition to having cool paddles as well.

But AZ really has gone to shit. I was chatting with another “old” B8 S4 member on fb who doesn’t post there anymore either. But it’s fine. There are the occasional gems there still. Though the best of which is the “giovanni” threads.

az is good for volume.

Looking for info on what intake to buy? AR.

Selling your intake because you now know you bought the wrong one? AZ classifieds.

I have to agree, those that really know this platform are here and willing to help. I haven’t been posting at all but silently observing. I’ve learned so much from all of you that frequent this section. All of your inputs have influenced my decisions in modding and how I will approach my next outing at the 1/4 mile.
AZ is a zoo but I’m in there for the laughs and occasional good info. This is where I come to LEARN, be it technique for launch, the mechanical aspects of how this car functions, or what parts are good/waste of money. Some people find it intimidating here and it can be if you spew out crap, you will get called on your bs. yourself, drob, saki, primetime, dp, justinincredible, jones and even sky have basically set the knowledge I have about this car and for that I thank you all. Anyways, I hope I can help others from my own experience if this recipe works come spring (and it should based because its been proven to work with all of your cars).
