Updated Vbox list.....

Hahaha Tsivas, you said it already…IATs!!

Bear’s car was losing timing advance up top compared to Primetime because of the pure pentosin in the CPS, causing IATs to go up, and timing advance to thus go down. Quite amazing he managed 119.6 mph considering he had even worse heat rejection than a stock intercooler circulation system.

Like I said to a couple of you, I’d likely go my own route with the CPS anyhow.

didn’t he say the car’s logs (richi) looked normal last night? no sudden timing pulled. Just fine.

[quote]Felt like a slight misfire. Vag com did not show any significant timing pull/events

Yes I am fully catted.

Pete just recently got his clutch. <2000 miles I believe.

Yeah Rich’s car was acting up on the Dyno last year. Much hasn’t changed in a year. He still doesn’t know his profile order on cruise control stalk. :stuck_out_tongue:

Lucky I had vag com to see which one was the 100 file. I had flashbacks of last dyno day for a little.

its the same thing that happened to me on that dyno day at AWE. the issue the first time around was that the APR pump was leaking and drawing in air. at WOT at around 6000rpm and up(at around EXACTLY 120mph) the car starts to stutter, feels almost as if its detonating. the issue went away last year when i got a new pump from APR.

now what i noticed last night was even stranger. after feeling the stutter we check the coolant res and it was low but i saw pink at the bottom of the tube. not having coolant in my trunk(like i normally do because the CPS makes me paranoid) i topped it up with a little water and IT DID NOT MIX with the coolant that was in there, i literally had to stick something in there and had to stir it up and SOME coolant mixed in. its almost as if either A. the coolant congealed from the low temps(is that possible?) or the pump just isnt working as it wasnt drawing anything down into the coolant loop and mixing in the water. either way the CPS is not doing its job in properly cooling the supercharger.

maybe lack of proper testing from APR? def doesnt get that cold down in alabama… when pete checked his coolant in his CPS it was very low as well? i know in higher non freezing temps this issue has been NONEXISTENT for me, same as last year it only happened in extreme cold temps…

le sigh… lol

Gonna look at his logs some more later. Didn’t see anything abnormal from quick glance. Just looked like car was starting to adapt when I was in car with vag com with him. Wish I did IATs.

He’s not gonna come back for another year here. He did his yearly trip to us. ;D

order another drum… lol ill be back in 2 weeks

Yeah, but even Tsivas logs typically show timing retard at high speeds…nobody keeps the advance that Prime does in 3rd, 4th, 5th, after a long pull

Love AR… awesome potential discussion on this post… Headers CPS etc. (I do think they work BTW). At least in 4th gear :stuck_out_tongue:

Same thread on AZ… crickets. Talking about smelly ACs and dented hoods and clear bras.

i want to try and remove the reservoir and put the supercharger back on the main coolant loop and see if that shows any change but keep the HF pump and the heat exchanger

So you guys log timing…do you also log timing pulled in each of the six cylinders? I think vagcom calls it retardation. Like this. On the RS4 we have two ECUs so you can only log one bank at a time.

Gonna test Prime’s 104 file with some other stuff added to it real soon. Arin working on it. Should have this week he said. They might have also fixed the shift delay we get with faster shifting.

i hope so…

Richi was saying his car was getting choppy at 120mph at around 6k in 4th. Mine doesn’t get choppy but honestly just feels like it stops pulling, almost like detonation. I’ve logged third gear multiple times and the only issue that we see is some slight timing pull on pump, none on race and the supercharger bypass valve opening up to 25%. Here’s the thing even though there is 0 timing pull on race gas I still get this at around 120. This however doesn’t happen in the top of third. I want to get some fourth gear logs and see what’s going up but even in some fourth gear logs Richi’s logs last night looked fine if I recall correctly.

Here’s the thing like Tsivas said: his car is a 6MT and doesn’t have the issue, my car didn’t have the issue prior to the CPS/Testpipes/Clutch install. It’s def not clutch related, and that only leaves two other variables. Being cat-less and have CPS- two things mine and Richi’s car have in common.

We saw that my car with the Testpipes and CPS made almost no difference in my 60-130 time however my 50-130 was .3 seconds faster which obviously a gain from the Testpipes since CPS only helps in consistency rather than a performance gain.

In Richi’s car we saw this gain up top from his cat-less system. I just don’t know whether to point my finger at my Testpipes or a CPS issue. However something is NOT right.

The bypass valve is def an issue in itself and I should be making 1.5-2psi more from 4500 to redline however I don’t think I can solely point my finger at GIAC.

I’m not 100% sold on the idea that the Testpipes didn’t help me up top- that just doesn’t make sense to me. I’m waiting for a new file from GIAC to “fix” the bypass issue and also will be getting the pulley available from AWE hopefully this coming week. I will test this with Tsivas. Logs, vbox, 1/4 mile, pump and race etc…

We will see what GIAC has come up with and see what I can do about the CPS issue I’m assuming I have. Time will tell. If GIAC’s results aren’t good and I’m not satisfied and I decide I’m keeping this car for the long term Arin will be getting a call from me…

Yes, but I usually do a few cylinders since you are limited to 12 fields… I like to get boost, bypass, rpm, IAT’s, air mass, throttle position also… I know J sometimes just logs advance and retard for all cylinders…

I told you he would hook you up!

Remember…Timing drop from IAT temps rising doesn’t show up as a knock reduction in each cylinder…you will only see the timing advance drop…

Haha… yep. They are testing some stuff on his car and I’ll head over to Kai’s soon after it is on server for OBD2 flash.

thats the other thing i NEED the production file lol

  1. You sure? It’s one of the variables…and it wouldn’t show up on logs.

  2. It’s kinda funny how there are a couple hundred GIAC guys out there and none of them mentioned this. Takes a few guys to get keen and help these companies who don’t own the cars they tune find out how the tune really works in the real world, rather than on a dyno in California.

Speaking of GIAC…someone should page Merlins Magic, a member here who works at GIAC.
