Update: I got the fuel line as tight as possible that I could do without a wrench it doesn’t leak anymore which is a plus and the cold starts sound pretty good It takes 2 or so seconds and runs like for the first 6 or so seconds and stays at a solid 758 rpm and has a slow acceleration in 1st until you hit 3600 rpm. Once it’s warmed up it’s much more lively.
Good to hear it man! I’m right behind you with the manifold. Have only a few things left, fuel lines mainly. Hoping I can get it off by tomorrow and start cleaning.
Robocop.
Just to re cap. Your lifters are still broken or just the arms are not there on 2 cylinders correct.
All of the cars good condition or not are going to missfre if you have your SAI still and the temps get cold enough on cold start. So I wouldn’t worry much about that. Also the cars tend to missfire if the ECU is adapting.
2/40 rocker arms broke and I saw the sai delete on jhm seeing it was one of the cheaper things on their website. I’ll look into that
Update: I’ve reached 850 mi and guess what? No problems! When it’s 65°F+ and has low gas it throws an esp fault but as soon as you throw some gas in it, the car is happy. When I take the car in for warranty work next I’m going to have them replace the HPFPs as well. So far I love this car and when I get it mechanically sound I can start with the mods. I feel as if Audi will take their time seeing that parts would need to be ordered but as long as they give me a nice A4 or something I won’t be complaining
I dremmeled mine out too and its leaking like a MF in that area. I prolly need a new VC. Is yiurs leaking at all??
It’s leaking but I don’t know if it’s from the valve cover I don’t think it is
Thank you for this pos!
I will be eventually doing a CC, this will help!
Hi All this post is excellent looking at doing my flaps and CC this weekend. Just one question with the flaps locked in position does it no throw a code and put EML on?
The inside TQ flaps don’t have a sensor on them so there is no issues there. The tumble flaps those are the ones just above the cylinder heads. Those have a sensor on them. Those you would get a code for.
The tumble flaps generally don’t have too many issues as long as theyre not all carboned up. Well aside from the fact that they kill Tq down low but other than that those flaps usually don’t break or get stuck.
It’s the internal flaps in the intake that have the issue.
So after a 12 hour session yesterday removing IM and decoke and to my surprise nothing broken! Even the rubber around the flaps looked good so put it all back together and checked for faults my original fault for the manifold flaps had gone but a new one appeared randomly P1653 fault in ABS controller and won’t clear left the battery on charge as it had been sitting for over a week other then that any ideas cheers guys
Man you don’t see that often. The ABS might be a fault for a few things. Sometimes the steering angle and traction control system have not ran the adaption. I would to drive the car a few times to see if the fault self clears after adaption. If not you should have more codes in the que that should help point out what else to look for.
I know I was shocked as well! Cars only done 50k maybe that’s why. My pals bringing his snap on diagnostic to do some calibrations hopefully that will sort it. I did flick the ignition over with IM off to get the other cylinders 2 close wonder if this caused it as it wasn’t there when I drove it in.
justincredible are you UK based and i see that you say you have done the flap fix for a few people.
If you are UK based how much do you charge for doing such fix and do you supply everything needed?
Not in Europe at the moment. Do you know what damage the intake has had or the current condition.
It’s been plugged in and it is saying it has 3 misfires all on one side on the even side and the manifold runners and stuck.
Other than then couple things nothing else comes up from the engine, I don’t know if there is any more internal damage as the manifold has not been split yet.
Have you had a carbon clean and do you know the motor maintenance
Hasn’t had a carbon clean since I’ve had it but it is on the list to get done.
I have some paper work for regular services and some paperwork for previous work to try and sort the misfire from previous owner.
Obviously they didn’t have any luck with it or know about the cars enough to find the solution.
I bought a 2010 Audi s6 v10 that had the runner delete already but for some reason is still throwing this code; Intake manifold runner control bank 1 electrical malfunction short runner valve(SRV)
I was curious to know if anyone thinks it could be the motor for the top runners that no longer exist or if it could be the lower left sensor for the bottom valves underneath the manifold since it’s an electrical malfunction on bank 1.
