VCDS newbie.

X2 show us what your looking at and what you need.

trust me if I could get a camera in there I would totally show a pic. basically between the 2 flaps pictured above theres a double tee with vac lines going to each flap. I can pop them off and blow into them but that’s it, the hood latch is in the way to see or feel anymore. clearly one side has a leak cuz I can hear it when I blow in the line. I was really hoping I could get to it without pulling the bumper apart. I want to drive it for another month or so before I go nuts disassembling. ill replace the o2s and just wait till I pull the car off the road for the vacuum leak. just sucks that it could likely be fixed inside a minute if I could get to it. I just want it perfect for a few more runs this year while its still NA, want the best possible ET for the list.

thank you all for the help.

Jimmy, thanks for that link I def need a manual for this thing.

another vcds question, I had the guys at foreign auto delete my seatbelt chime and the tpms sensors I watched while they did but now I cant figure out where in vcds I can change the values of things like that.

can someone point me in the right direction and is it possible to disable the airbag light (friends car) and can I delete traction control?

Google “audizine b7 vagcom changes seatbelt” and you will find a thread walking through all of them

thanx, I posted over there.

It is very helpful for finding tweaks to different cars. For example, I went into the Audi procedures for the RS4 for instrument cluster coding to find this: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Audi_A4_(8E)Instrument_Cluster(8EC/8ED/8HE)

That shows you the different coding options for the instrument cluster and the seat belt chime is in there. I have also found that when I go into a control module coding through the vagcom that a little window pops up with this information on the cars before the B8s. You just change the coding digit to the setting that you want, save the new coding, and then check that it actually worked.

By the way, you should always save the previous coding to a Word, Notepad, or similar type file for in case you need to go back to it for some reason. Also the coding will not always look exactly like what is shown on the wiki page. I have run into that a lot with convertibles so it is always a good idea to save the previous coding before changing it.

As far as the airbag light goes for your buddy. You want to go into 15 - Airbag electronics and see what codes are stored. If it is a B6/7 with front side airbag codes then there is a wiring repair that needs to be done for a bad connection under the seat.

There is a button to turn traction control off. What more do you want?

thanks tons.

If theres a way to disable it completely I would, I cant think of a single time ever in any situation where I wanted it and it pisses me off to no end when im trying to play and ive forgotten to turn it off or didn’t leave my finger on it long enough.

9 times out of 10 my fingers go directly to the S button and the TC button. I know the S button doesn’t do anything to my car anymore but I can’t help but turn it on lol.

also it would be nice to not have the yellow light on the dash all the time.

ill fiddle with the car this week and see what I can do, im enjoying learning all the things I can do through vagcom and just want the car perfectly tailored to me.

btw my o2s are in, I ordered from ecs and the duties were 120 fucking dollars!!!

Yeah traction control is frustrating with more power than stock. I can easily overcome the tires if I give the car a decent amount of gas when going around a turn or even on a straight section of road if in the right gear/speed. I just would rather have it and not need it then need it and not have it. Kind of like condoms and guns.

Pretty sure that the S button still does something with the throttle mapping even if you have an aftermarket exhaust.

I also have the 93 tune. i don’t think it does anything once u get the tune but i could be wrong.

another question, I just replaced the rear o2s so those codes are gone, now I had no epc light for the last week and when I just went for a drive it popped on after doing the o2s. I popped the hood and fiddled with the flaps and the light went off. I then rescanned and now it says some thing a bit different than the first scan.

do you think the sensor has gone bad? or should I still be trying to hunt down a vacuum leak?

heres the log.

That’s normal on a Rs4. The car just wasn’t able to pull the flap in the correct position after start up. Check back in a week or so and see if it comes back.

this epc light has been on and off since I got the car. is that sensor a common fault?

EPC that’s not really normal. Is it on when your driving the car or just before you start it.

it pops on and off periodically, if it stays on for awhile it throws a cel which I posted above.

ok now I screwed something up while pissing around in xenon range module 55. I tried changing the coding it never worked but now my headlight motors wont work and I have the headlight with an arrow in the center display, what have I done lol???

Two things I would recommend. It will help you and it will help the community.

Make a few DIY threads on your vag com changes. This will not only help you understand better what your doing but it will open up more conversations on new things to do

Go back into the module I think it’s basic setting 60 you have to rerun the adaption. I think it’s 60… LOL see now had I made a DIY when I did the same thing I would be able to go back and check.

wasn’t really tryin to do anything just exploring. I was getting frustrated because the basic setting kept telling me error so I walked away for awhile and when I came back it was working. so I redid everything and all is well again.

Dumb question, but does Mac have this application or something similar?

ya u can download vcds for a mac. http://www.ross-tech.com/
