VCDS newbie.

The best thing to do is test the intake flap that will help give you more of an idea on what’s going on there. As for the 02s and knock codes. Check to see if they return.

if you search ‘knock’ and my username in advanced search you might find my fault codes that I posted. If you see which knock sensor I had that died, you will know that one is under manifold.

actually I have it here. Knock Sensor 3. Yours is #2 from the looks of it.

whats a list of every component involved with the intake manifold flaps. I will literally buy and replace it all. my car has 153km on it now and its around the time electronic components start failing in my past experiences.

Justin, the flaps open and close without any feeling of friction.

I will likely replace all the vacuum lines while the intakes off as well.

the misfire I think was my own fault which the knock code could be related too.and the o2s I may not have cleared all the way out when I replaced them a couple weeks ago.

anything else I should replace that could possibly fail while I have the intake off? or any other known issues I should be looking for?

cel popped on again today heres the log. the EPC light is also on with the cel.

question 1 what does the power supply fault mean?

question 2 what is the most likely cause of the intake flap fault?

question 3 do I have some kind o electrical gremlin?

question 4 whats the steering angle sensor?

question 5 what exactly does the epc light mean. the manual just says an electronics malfunction.

1 it’s telling you the battery voltage dropped too low. This is generally the code for when you disconnect the battery. You have this code 2 times so that can mean a few things. That would have to be a future thing to look into if it keeps coming back

2 the intake flap can be from a few things. Inspect the linkage check the vac lines. So far the faults seem to be return faults. That’s saying they don’t return to the home position. Check for possible interference. The good news is confined to just the passenger side of the intake.

  1. I don’t think there is a mystery issue I think there is a few things that need fixing.

4 it’s part of the traction control system tied into the ABS. It is a sensor that tells the computer what angle the wheels are at so the car will know if there is a need to help give slide assistance and other critical functions

5 electronic powertrain control

ok well I pulled the battery so theres that problem. thanks Justin ill take a look and see if theres something stopping it from returning.

is there anything that needs lubrication?

and what would cause the steering one, should I be concerned or just clear it and see if it comes back?

so since ive pulled my battery a few times ive lost the remote window function. in module 46 I have a value of 11900. the car already had this when I got it so I don’t know whats supposed to be there. does anyone know if this is correct for remote windows?

it also wont work just turning the key either.

I also cant do the euro headlight mod (ambers only on when using turn signals) is this not possible with the rs4?

You can do euro, I’ve done it on mine. Just set it to rotw.

I don’t recall off the top of my head what the window codes are, but try clicking the text box and it’ll tell you what numbers to put or add in a little popup.

ya its +64 for remote windows so if mine is right the original value should be 11846? I think it is right but its still not working.

what do u mean by set it to rotw? im not able to communicate with the module is there something I need to do first?

mistro, are u guys still doing the Thursday meet? I could whip up there, I have a ton of questions, it would be great if you could give me a quick walkthrough on how to use the software.

I got the euro lights. seems I can talk to the module if the cars running???

I figured out the windows too. the problem was one of the rear windows wasn’t reprogrammed for the one touch down. as soon as I got that working the remote started working.

Did you figure out your intake manifold flap position sensor issue? I have p2020, which is the same code but for bank 2, stored with intermittent EPC. Im about 17k in since my last carbon clean so I could go ahead and replace the sensors but id rather wait a bit if it’s not a serious issue.

How do I test the IM flap functionality?
edit: found - http://audirevolution.net/forum/index.php?topic=856.msg19131#msg19131

That looked like it was for the air box flap.

i just pulled my intake and found a small piece of orange rtv stuck to one of the flaps so im thinking/hoping that was what was stopping it from returning to full rest position. to test the flaps pull on the white plastic arms from the vacuum actuators. see if they open fully and close without issue.
