Video taping on Sunday?

There isn’t a regional section so I’m just going to post something here.
I’d like to go out on Sunday and take some video. Anyone in the GTA interested?
So far I have one other guy that’s in (TT driver).

It’s a long weekend, you can rest on Monday.

And as an added incentive, I’ll let anyone test drive my supercharged S4 if they’ll let me test drive their car (preferably a non-S4 so I can check out other cars). And if you drive an auto, you need to convince me you know how to drive a manual properly hehe.

Some rolling shots on top of video would be cool as well.

Anyway, just throwing it out there. I’m thinking of meeting up around 11am, have some fun, then grab a bite to eat when we get hungry and shoot the shit and take it from there.

This may be a horribly stupid question but… What does GTA stand for?

Sorry, not stupid if you’re not from around here. “Greater Toronto Area”

my friend matt has been wanting to get some good video footage of my car. I’m sure he’d enjoy another car or two being in the mix.

When were you thinking? Where?

p.s. general discussion works well for stuff like this

Right now, I’m thinking 11am in the west end (Mississauga/Burlington area), take some video (from other cars as well as standing on the side of the road, launches, drive bys, etc.). Take some rolling snapshots of everyone’s cars. Probably stop for lunch around 1pm or so, shoot the shit over lunch, laugh, have fun, talk about cars, and take it from there (i.e. if we think of more fun stuff to do over lunch, maybe do them, otherwise, if we’re happy with what we’ve taken so far, go our separate ways).

If God wants to move this thread, that’s perfectly fine by me.

sounds good. Matt is in. He has video and an external microphone of some sort. We have a couple of good cameras between us that we can easily do rolling shots. Light will suck mid-day otherwise should be good.

Awesome. As for the light, yeah, but at the same time, it’s easier. Hey, some of us who have nothing else to do that say can stick around to the golden hour.

Ok, here are the details for tomorrow’s meetup.

Location: Esso gas station at Third Line and Speers, just south of the QEW. There’s a Tim Horton’s, a bunch of gas stations if you need to fill up and a touchless car wash (lame I know but it’s better than nothing I guess).
Google Map: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=esso+at+speers+and+third+line,+oakville&hl=en&ll=43.41839,-79.71714&spn=0.104113,0.222988&sll=43.419127,-79.717961&sspn=0.001635,0.003484&hq=esso+at+speers+and+third+line,+oakville&radius=15000&t=h&z=13
Time: 11am (try to be there on time please).

If you can’t make it for 11am but think you can meet up a little later, PM me and I’ll give you my cell number.

Hey, I’m Matt the A/V guy…

I definitely appreciate punctuality. However my kiddies have swimmimg lessons until close to 11… I don’t (yet) drive an Audi so I was going to jump in with Saki…we’re close by but 11:10 to 11:15 is more likely.

S’allright?

that’s probably fine. I will bring my Canon DSLR for rolling shots

Yup, no worries. The “Please be on time” statement is more for those that are habitually late
Also, I was telling saki that I’d like you to hopefully provide some guidance. I’d like this to be like a video/photo shoot and usually, the photographer/videographer has ideas in mind and directs a lot of the day. Otherwise, we might either have too many chiefs and not enough indians OR, driving around aimlessly  Does that work for you? An amateur photographer friend of mine might also be joining me. If he does, you guys can work out some of the details together.

Works great for me. I was actually wondering how you guys were going to feel about my instructions of “ok do a standing start with me behind you, then turn around, go back, then stand start again with me 20 feet ahead of you, then turn around again then drive by in the same direction really fast”

To the viewer of the finished product, it’s a single standing start filmed by 3 cameramen. that’s one thing to do anyhow.

Anyone seen Jeremy Clarkson’s film from last year, “the italian job?” the intro features a car driving up to him as he sits on a picnic blanket. As seen on the “making of” film it’s an SLS AMG with a video camera taped to the hood and a microphone taped to the rear. (he jokes about how it’s a german car in england filming something called the italian job) I’m interested in taping my mic to the rear of your cars if thats cool. I don’t imagine duct tape residue is any issue. Should come off a car.

great shots. When can we expect to see the vids

Nice rolling shots.

Your RS is hot, and where are the pics of Axel’s car

Nice shots, gutted I missed it.

We had a great turn-out. 2 RS4s, 2 B7 S4 Avants (both Sprint Blue lol), one B8 A4 Avant, one TT, one A6 4.2 (I don’t think I’m missing anyone).

We got some stills and video so I’m looking forward to them being posted.

We’ll do another when the weather is warmer (May/June) as the low temps were tough for the photographer and everyone else. Still though, I think everyone had a good time (I know I did!).

Thanks to everyone who came out!

the photographer used my camera so I have probably 1/3 of the pics. I have a rolling shot of just about all the cars, which I’ll post up.

the A6 4.2 was a widebody with an 01E swap. Cool car.

see edit

will take a while. Buddy is goinig to do some editing and stuff. Nothing fancy, but we have some good views of all the cars going for a rip here and there.
