What do you love most about your S6?

For me it is simply the power and the glorious sound.

I know it’s not really that fast a car. Has terrible gas mileage. And is heavy. And not very reliable.

But the sound had me hooked from day 1.

Massive, smooth, low-rpm, v10 torque
Instant throttle response of a large NA, high-compression engine
v10 growl
The beautiful sport seats
275s all around will room to spare
Amazing brakes with 385mm rotors

…and then the modding began!!!

It’s interesting…people argue all day abotu their giant turbo 4 cylinder or twin turbo V6 being greatest because it makes big power…but that’s only if you’re doing a high speed race with someone and hitting triple digits. The other 99% of the time, their cars are lacking.

When you get down to it, the enjoyment of your car comes from a number of areas, and max performance is only one. The emotional connection to a car is far bigger, and a big part of that is it’s sound. I read a study about this once…I’ll try to find it.

That’s why V10 and V8 cars are so well loved by their owners.

And that’s why the Ferarri F355 is quite possibly the best car ever in spite of it’s shortcomings. ;D

Totally agree with what you guys are saying.

For me, a very important aspect of the car is how connected I feel to it. This can be achieved in a lot of ways in a cars design. Accurate and sensitive steering that puts you in touch with the road. Quick and accurate throttle response. Responsive, progressive, fade free, brakes. Grippy tires that are predictable and provide feedback, to let you know what is going on. An exhaust that sounds raw, and that howls when I floor the car, and sings at high RPM. And for a sports car, a good manual transmission, which is something that I recently wrote was over-rated, but have since changed my mind.

Everything is going turbos, electronic steering, simulated exhaust sounds, lightning fast auto transmissions, self driving cars, etc, etc, etc. Great for the majority of people out there who don’t really want to be connected to their car. Bad for the enthusiasts. Or at least bad for the ‘old school’ enthusiasts. For the drivers who grew up with the Xbox and PS3, the newer techno tubs might make a lot of sense.

OK, now I sound like old grumpy guy.

I love that the car is such a dick magnet, haven’t seen one woman look twice at my car, but every time I stop for gas, I get dudes walking up to talk to me. Actually I don’t love that.

Hahahaha, best response ever.

That sounds like nice cars in general. Mine is a 17 year old boy magnet

Interesting Encounter in Audi RS4: https://youtu.be/3rCmF_VxdQo

i love getting in my car on friday after work since i hardly drive during the week and feeling a whole world of stress coming off of me just as i start it and hear the sound of my straight piped v10 glory. I go for a drive and i am reminded every day why i chose to purchase this over a new s6 that posts faster 1/4 mile times

and i would have to say i love the front seats a lot ;D

HA! That’s is so correct it almost makes me cry instead of laugh… Lately I’ve been getting comments from guys about the car nearly every time I am out with it. Girls probably just think it’s a fancier-than-average ricer, never have taken any notice.

I love how I can take a long, sweeping freeway offramp at full-throttle all the way around the whole thing, and no matter how bad the g-force starts to get, it rides on rails the whole way, all the while sounding like a 24 hours of Le Mans car. Then get on the freeway, coast back into a safe speed, and everyone who drives past gives me one of 2 different looks: “You’re a real cocksucker”, or “holy shit, did your car just do that?”

I also love my C6 S6, because this is a forum for “all A6’s and S6’s”, but almost everyone in here has a C6 S6, so I don’t have to dig very deep to find something relevant to me ;D

Got on the freeway after a long lunch and I spot a beautiful RS4, I catch up and he rolls down the window to give me the peace sign. Even though traffic was starting to build he had some space ahead of him and he nailed the pedal and gave me a show. I caught up, found some space and returned the favor. Then I starting getting aggressive with the lane changes and he followed suit. Got it up over 100 a couple of times, Black S6 followed closely by a Dolphin RS4, zipping in and out like agile cats chasing its prey. Got quite the adrenaline rush. I like to think that we have the people quite a show, and not what they really thought.

In light of this thread, I’ve updated my signature haha

I’m getting to be more and more of a v10 fan. A local guy has a S8 and I have recently driven a s6 when my buddy went to go car shopping. They had one at the dealership and the sales guy was happy to let us test drive it.

The S6 feels very comfortable and confident. My S4 has headers full exhaust nitrous you name it. So sure my car is faster but the v10 acceleration was different. It was smooth but strong. I didn’t beat on the car but the car had nice instant response

The 0-60 time may not be as fast as a typical “fast car”, hell my old subaru would have beat it by a whole second, but when you’re cruising down the freeway at 75mph and mash the gas and get thrown into the back of your seat all the way til you say “mercy”, it’s really hard to beat that feeling. Not a lot of cars this heavy and luxurious can give you that feeling. Sure you can get a Z06 vette that’ll do that, but not with a 2 child seats in the back and a trunk full of groceries, with the A/C blowing and the exhaust saying “come on wuss, you’re not even close to redline”

I live in an urban area with small streets and high trees. I absolutely love driving around in Sport mode with my windows down and hearing my exhaust note bouncing off all over the place.

One thing I notice though on and off when I drive around slowly in Sport mode: when I slow down to make a turn and then accelerate I will find the engine revs like it is in neutral then it will suddenly catch gear and lurch like a mofo. It is not a pleasant experience. Anyone have any idea what this is? It went away fro awhile after I got serviced for something completely unrelated. Happened again recently but only in mild form. Only happens in Sport mode at low speeds after I slow down.

In the brief time that I drove the car (a week or so), this happened to me a few times. I must have been driving it in the same situation you were.

When it suddenly catches, it would actually squeal the tires, so it shows you what kind of force it would have when it grabbed.

Ill have to talk to CountVohn, and see if this issue can be identified, and resolved with the TCU tune.

My car does the same exact thing. If I do a “rolling” stop at a stop sign, or slow down for a speed bump in a parking lot, the car goes CRACK and chirps the tires as soon as I press the gas pedal even just a little bit. Drives me crazy, and there’s no way it could possibly be good for the transmission. I’ve been avoiding the issue by using the paddles to downshift into 1st manually, before the auto trans decides to do it for me. It can also be avoided by simply coming to a complete stop to give it time to drop itself into 1st before giving it gas again. Or, if I’m driving in an area where I have to do a bunch of “near” stops, I just take it out of Sport mode. I really hope a TCU tune would fix that, I might even do the tune if that’s ALL it fixed.

Ill definitely talk to him, and see what he says.

At the very least, we will probably have to wait a few months until my car is back on the road, and the problem can be reproduced.

Hi guys,

You will find this on Google called the ‘2-1 bump,’ and it seems to be common on many of the 6HP26 cars, mostly RWD.

Mine had it really bad, and the dealer did a ‘reset’ on the transmission - they said ‘update’ but I don’t believe them. Seems to be much better now, so it’s 100% the programming. They say it is a ‘learning’ transmission, which must be why the issue is not the same for everyone.
