what what what OK...Mick the track star

ok…we all know how lots of ppl like to track da RS4

but what is funny is i sometimes mention different cars that i was interested in buying for a designated track car and i was told many times even on a 8.4K 944 that why would i take that too the track it is too nice.

what what what

how can you say that to me when you are bringing da RS4 to the track…does that make sense.

this is what i ended up doing

i went out and bought a beater 91 964 C2 MT that i will mod to be my street/track car

i am not beating up da RS4

this car will be costly in the end but not 50K costly and the consumables should be cheaper.

check out my beater, should be picking it up on saturday morning

I drove one of those a while back…and when I got back in my B7 S4 it felt like an A8L. The 964 is so small.

p.s. go widebody conversion

nice choice, having a dedicated track car makes a lot more sense. I’m waiting until I have more space to do the same

love the wide bodies

but starting out small…i am probably going to put some money into this one to get it the way i want.

it is no doubt strange driving this compared to the RS4

i dont really have room for it…have a 1.5 car garage

am going to expand it and raise the roof to 11 ft to put a lift in it

need to check this out and pull the trigger on it soon as i would prefer to do a lot of the work on my cars myself at least what makes sense

That looks like a lot of fun! Tracking the daily driver only makes sense if you have more than one DD. I imagine hitting the track on a Sunday, then breaking an axle makes Monday’s commute pretty miserable.

This 911 gutted… it will be niiiice.

The amount of money some spent on their Audi for a track car, could’ve bought them an Exige or something.

i should be picking it up on friday

the car is going to need some work but will be fun. hopefully i have some decent weather this weekend and i can clean up both and take some pics.

i want to see how the exterior comes out on the 964 after i wash and DA some areas. i will start the DA on the worst areas to how good i can get it overall the body is pretty good. but once i get it home i will be able to gauge the overall condition of it.

Nice, it will be a fun car. I know there are plenty of other way more important “to do’s” when you pick this car up but please please please pick up a wide body conversion like Saki said. My neighbor next to my parent’s house growing up had such a bad ass widebody 964. It looked so good, absolute biggens.

swesna…you can never have too many cars to play with ;D that being said, whatever mick’s opinion is on a subject, you should almost always do the complete opposite

Congratulations I guess but do you actually track any of your cars? Unless you are planning in doing a lot of it the RS4 makes a great all around car and I just don’t see how the consumables are THAT much more than other options. I mean, think about how many sets of pads, tires, etc. you could buy with the money that you are going to spend on the 20 year old porsche. Don’t get me wrong, lovely car but having trouble understanding the logic unless you plan on getting really serious, caging the car, and really learning how to drive.

The funniest thing about driving on a road course to me is that very very very few people can even drive a Camry to its full potential. Seriously.

What kind of track driving are you looking to do? HPDE? NASA or W2W type events? More competitive?

should be a fun car.

But…how do you even know you will like “tracking”? From what I’ve gathered, you’ve never done it. Just seems a bit odd to go and buy a car that you’re already dedicating as a “track car” when you’ve never been to the track in any car. I hope you love it, and you track the hell out of it, which in turn will almost certainly make you a better driver.

I think he just wanted a 911, and will use an old reasonable cost one as a means of doing it, and can hit the track up in it if he chooses.

Thing looks like new to be honest.

Nice pick up man. I’ve never driven a 911 but when I buy another house I can already imagine stuffing one in the garage too. The body looks to be in good shape. White leather seats mean you have to pick up at least one hooker and do some coke off her tits. Its a prereq for being in the white leather club…lol

(ps Please quit putting Mick in the titles of threads. I’m sick of seeing his name everywhere  )

jared,

this is going to be a street/DE car…not dedicated track car…hope I did not state it that way but may have.

basically i had 25K worth of rs4 spares/performance parts in the basement…cleared out about 12K worth and put that money towards this.

i am stopping on the mods to the RS4 for now…just waiting on an adapter from MTM and that will be the last mod.

i am going to sink about 20K into this car and it will be fun even if it turns out i dont like to track.

now if my job situation changes…then so will my ideas…but this somewhat stopped me from buying something like a 2007 gt3 which i was getting closer and closer to buying. i might even like this so much in two years i do end up with the gt3.

steve

funny…the white leather seats…the driver’s seat is pretty worn and what sucks is someone just put up a set for free in Long Island NY…wish I saw that. But the cars interior is being stripped and going to put some track type seats in it.

ok…i agree i will leave mick’s name out of the titles going forward. was going to say more but i had enough of it and dont want to think about how he disappointed me even as an acquaintance.

you got it…me clearing out my basement of some of my rs4 parts bought the car. the car cost me 11.8K including the PPI which was $300. this is 100% a pacifier.

it have driven the car and the more i did during the test drive the more i liked it but it is just so different than the rs4. plus it needs some updating…i am going to have to get into it a bit this weekend to see how good/bad the body is. I want to clean it up…by stripping it of wax and power wash it. then dry it off and get it up on some jack stands to see how it looks underneath. also, will take the trunk apart to look for any signs of previous damage etc…

will take pics and post up.

i somewhat regret not getting the imola but that would have been a vertical move and this is horizontal aka something different

this will be mainly for street and some DE…this will be the car i teach my wife how to drive a MT. i honestly dont care if she messes up the clutch or anything does not matter. i just have to get her to pronounce porsche properly…she now calls it a porch.

sorry i did see i used the word track above…

i am no track superstar

i will only be taking a few DE courses once in a while

here is the gt3 i was tempted to get

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GT3-/230861065090?forcev4exp=true

i shot him 65K and he countered at 72.5K

i am fairly certain it could be had for 70K

i think it is best to wait two more years for this

“Porch” lol

Although it should be pronounced “Porsha”, I still pronounce it “Porsh” so that I don’t get funny looks or “huh?” type remarks hehe.

Nice pickup Steve! So I take it you ended up passing up the imola RS4?

Well was headed to pick it up this morning and a dump truck got into an accident on my way north on the NJ turnpike to NY state (city area).

Decided to go home and head up tomorrow morning.

What is strange about this last week when I went up for a test drive…the same thing happened but worse. The dump truck driver died and the NJTP was closed in both directions for most of the day.

Now if something strange happens on my way up there tomorrow…I will not know what to think.
