what what what OK...Mick the track star

thanks.

yes, i passed on the imola and somewhat regret it but the hassle of a long distance transaction and after thinking does it really make sense to have two RS4 in the driveway, i decided it was not worth it.

not sure if this will be worth it either but should be fun getting the car where i want it.

whats going on with you?

the good thing about the 911 is that most of the depreciating is done. I mean is it going to get much more below $11,800? Likely not much. However I can guarantee the second RS4 would depreciate about $11,800 over the next 3 years.

I just watched the episode of Top Gear where they reviewed some little econobox Nissan that was 6900 british pounds ($10,800) and they wondered…what can we buy in the used market for that money that might be better than this?

They came up with a first generation Boxster with reasonable miles, a 9 year old CL600, a BMW 850i, a Subaru WRX, an 18 year old Bentley Turbo R.

It was hilarious. Made me want to buy an interesting older car.

yes, as long as we have the rs4 we can no doubt deal with having a non DD older car.

i think the price was fair at 10.8K and i am sure it will cost me time and money to get it where i want it but hopefully i like the outcome.

first i got to get it home…what kind of luck am i having with dump trucks lately on the njtp…just crazy.

I have been looking for BMW 850is with six speeds for a while. Most people want like twenty grand still!

Anyone ever considered picking up a 2001ish E55 AMG? Automatic but SC V8 just waiting for tune, pulley, and exhaust. There’s a few in this area for around $10K but mileage is around 130K. Thats my budget beast.

EDIT: They’re not SC’d until 2003. Damn

S6atron has a relative with one. They run elevens with marginal modifications.

2000, 2001, 2002 E55’s (W210 chassis) are N/A. The S/C came in 2003 (W211 Chassis). My old 2002 was a 5.5L V8, had a nice tq curve. 391FTLBS of tq stock. Those cars reacted well to open exhaust and a proper intake with a decent tune.

Ahhhhhh. For some reason I thought the older ones were SC’d. I obviously know nothing about Mercs…lol. Looks like I’ll stick with buying an E39 540i with a manual.

For what?

P.S. There was an e39 m5 at the strip…and he was slower than Cory’s A4 Avant. Times have sure changed!

True that. Pretty impressive for a “slow” tiptronic car. What’s the tq limit for that slush box?

^^^lol

For a cruiser. I’ve always had a thing for those cars. I’m actually finding some 2003+ E55 AMGs for decent pricing as well. I like so many cars I think I have a problem. All of these are pipe dreams until I get a big ass garage anyways.

I’m with you. When I saw the m5 (silver) at the strip I said to the guys that I still think that’s the best looking BMW ever made.

Jspazz has one. It needs a quart of oil everyone it gets a tank of gas lol.

ok…got it home this morning.

was not sure how it would drive but did take it to 120 mph and it was very smooth.

seems like a decent car for the price…have to take some pics and then start inspecting the car thoroughly.

here are some pics of the beater…at this point it is much better than I have thought. clutch/trans/engine and braking all seem good. The biggest issue is that it leaks oil and the interior is worn.

Will try and give it a complete detail by next weekend as long as the weather cooperates.

Then I will start hunting down the oil leak to see if I can repair with engine in the car…if not then prepare to remove the engine/trans.

Looks great next to the RS4! A couple of design classics.

whats nice with these cars is they repair themselves…

according to what i saw in movies!

^^^HAHAAHAHA! DUDE, that annoyed the hell out of me when I watched that movie back in the day!

Actually, every time a nice car gets wrecking in a movie I cringe a little bit. What a waste.

@swensa Nice little stable you’ve got there

well the good news in all that is they only fuck up a shell and not an actual car.

If they killed a genuine car… id be pissed!!!

Thanks guys.

The car is more fun to drive than I thought it would be. The handling around a corner is very good and seems easier to get use to than the RS4 for example. I probably could be able to hit a curve much quicker in the 964.

I am going to just focus on getting the car’s exterior detailed and then move on to checking the brakes, fluids and try and see where the leaks are coming from.

Oh…the interior has a strange smell to it…might be somewhat normal I think I have smelled something similar when driving in old VW bugs. The wife does not like the smell…I am not sure where I am taking the interior of the car yet…going to put some thought into it prior to ripping it apart.

OK…Saki…

I did it again…I need to stop looking at the internet during the day.

When I see a good deal I just need to buy it. This is how I ended up with 25K worth of parts in the basement.

OK…will be driving up north again to buy yet another P-car this time it is a 2001 Boxster S … how can I go wrong for 5K?

Will teach the wife how to drive MT on this one…she likes the car too. Will probably get it insured in the Spring…not much sense for her to drive it in the winter…we shall see…now got to get rid of her beater.
