I’ve spent around 40/50k more on my B5 than I did the B7 but then again my B5 is on another level compared to the B7. Well I hope it will be when it’s finished lol only been building it for 2 years. I like to pop over to the US forums to see what you guys are doing with the B5

Anyways yeah car runs well having a 3 year old vast tune and changing out the intake manifold throttle body ect. it was tuned for 24psi spike 22psi hold before and had perfect AFR when mike tuned it now at 18psi it has a pretty solid afr and pulls sub 2.5 fats

1.rods $800-1200
2.pistons $1100
3. 3L crank $600
4. misc gaskets belts and bolts $900
5. 2.8L heads $500
6. complete valvtrain with new valve guids seals dual rate valve springs and retainers $1700
7. machine work to the heads $800-1200
8. machine work and balancing of the block $600-800
9. having some one build the motor $1200
It can be done for 6-10k at the absolute most being 10k
Some of those prices seem a little low to me but I am going off of what I remember from years ago, I’m sure prices have changed quite a bit from back then, it sure seems like it.
