Who's ready for some Football?

^^ Good post, Jim. I tend to agree with your analysis.

Now how about that Tom Brady press conference yesterday? I thought he handled it well (stocking hat and all), and it was also pretty fucking hilarious. “This isn’t ISIS” lol!

I think that this fumbling statistic is the most interesting fact to come out of all of this.

http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/2015/01/25/patriots-fumble-nearly-impossible-rate/LCgrlUR9qgxDsIgcal9dUI/story.html

What is interesting about it is that their seemingly impossible fumble rate coincides exactly when Peyton Manning and Tom Brady lobbied to get the rules changed to allow road team offenses to bring their own balls.

[quote]The Patriots have held the best plays per fumble rate since 2007. Sharp also points out this is the first year the Patriots started outperforming in wet weather games. After going 0-2 in 2006, New England has gone an unprecedented 14-1 in Tom Brady wet weather home games (compared to 51-9 in dry weather home games). According to ProFootballReference.com, from 2001 to 2006, Brady averaged 9.8 fumbles per season. From 2007 to 2014, his fumbles per season decreased to 5.3.

Interestingly, one other thing changed the season prior to 2007: the rules. In 2006, Brady and Peyton Manning successfully lobbied the league to allow road team offenses to bring their own balls, breaking from the rule in which the home team provided all 24 balls. You may have heard of this rule change recently in the news again.

BEST. SUPER BOWL. EVER!!! Craziest fucking game I’ve ever seen.

That’s for sure!

Had I bet on the Seahawks, I would have been pretty upset with that last play. That was completely ridiculous!

Yeah disappointing way to lose. Really a horrendous decision. You have the best running back in football at your disposal, and rather than let him punch it in, comfortably, you run a weird little pass play over the middle with 22 guys crammed in a dense little area, 11 of whom are on the other team. Shocker…one of them caught it.

I don’t get it.

Can’t discount Brady’s performance. Set new SB records tonight - went 37/50 with 4 TDs. And another game-winning drive. He’s the best ever. It’s why I’ve always liked him and Belichick- they’re winners. Period.

Btw - Katy Perry is sexy as fuck. Good god. Thought her halftime show was decent - just wished she wasn’t so dressed up.

Can’t wait to go to my 1567413th championship Parade on Wednesday!!!

I’m a Broncos (Peyton Manning) fan (who was also a former longtime Colts fan), so the game didn’t hurt me as much.

Plenty of blame game going around and “why didn’t they just run the ball” going around the office today. While the coaching staff does deserve some blame, the players do too (Wilson and Lockette).

It is beyond obvious that it was an unnecessarily risky call.

Every bonehead armchair quarterback immediately knew that was the wrong call.

A words-fail-to-describe-the-fundamental-idiocy type of play call.

Seriously - who fucking runs that play? Why is it even in the playbook? Shocking. One for the ages.

Pretty good analysis in that article. Seattle must be a downer town today - that was a pretty epic choke.

Still, can’t forget how unlikely it is that they actually made it to the Super Bowl. Green Bay dominated the NFC Championship up until the last four minutes or so. Wilson had a horrible game that day (how many interceptions?) and barely completed a pass through the first 3.5 quarters. Then, when they made the comeback, Wilson had the miraculous Hail Mary of a two-point conversion. Seems like no one remembers that the touchdown wasn’t enough - the Hawks needed 2 to stay alive. In case anyone has forgotten, here’s how wild that 2-point conversion was:
