All of the above?
lol
I definitely don’t think it’s a money issue for the guys who are dumping 4 and 5 digits on a build.
I definitely don’t think it’s some trick EPL does to keep their customers paying them.
I honestly think people are just terrified of the quarter mile for one…so they often try to sandbag their expectations (pre-excuse as faw put it). Everyone is excited to announce their build. Everyone is excited to provide photos of the build and updates, and everyone else loves to follow along. However when the build is done and it comes time to hit the dragstrip to provide some evidence of how the car is performing, people get cold feet after seeing so many people/cars in the past struggle to match their dyno success. Ironically, this is especially true with the dyno superstar companies, across all platforms. The companies who post the best dyno sheets seem to struggle at the strip whether it’s a B5 (EPL), B6/7 (PES, everone but JHM really), B8 (GIAC).
As a result of this, you see guys like one member of this site who is happy to show us his dynosheet (who wouldn’t be…500 whp is ridiculously awesome)…who is happy to do some pulls with various beatable cars…however when asked to hit the strip, suddenly the goal is to do better than 13s. What? ‘Better than 13s’ is basically the goal of a full bolt on stage II car. Not a 500 whp car.
