Will it blend? (BritishTurbo build)

Was a stock tranny. Time and funds did not permit a rebuild lol.

Here’s a video of the 11.7 run:

BT - want me to add this to the quarter mile database? If so, give me some help on your modlist.

tune

downpipes/catback

octane of the fuel you used

power adder on your car (if stock, say so i.e. B5 S4 K03 or B8 S4 TVSr1320…and if you’re a B5 with K04/RS6 hybrids, make note. If you’re an NA car with a supercharger setup, give as much info as you can about the kit and the power adder )

boost/shot (if you’re a boosted car and know the peak boost, post it up. If you’re running nitrous, post the jet size)

other mods (intake mani? lw rotors? FMIC/SMIC? etc.)

other info (any weight reduction done? tire size? density altitude if you know it…however DA corrected times are never going on this list, but it is always interesting to know in extreme cases if a car ran at say -1000 feet, or +6000 feet)

How many runs did you get… can we see the average…

You deffinitly have to clean this up if you can… the advantage of e85 and the power level your at seems to be screeming the same song as all the other big big hp cars…loads of top end nothing else where. …

Keep at it…

I got 4 runs in:

13.7@115 (missed 3rd lol)
12.7@131
11.7@132
12.2@133

Cool thing about your car and the results…it looks like you can sleep most of the time and the car is st8ll going to run like a missle uptop…no matter how bad the et fell off the mph stays the same…good build…

Whoa 130’s. That trap is movin’! Congratulations! Now work on your launch etc… and get deep into the 11’s (although don’t get kicked out for no cage).

If you look at this data you’ll see I left a LOT of time in the 60’ and 1-2 shift…
I also was only at full boost for about 5 seconds lol.
With practice and nitrous I’m pretty sure 10s and 140+mph are doable.
The car will run a 1.9 second fats time with nitrous lol

Make that full boost for 4 seconds lol.

Here’s some virtual dyno plots from 3rd gear runs with and without the nitrous.
Remember I didn’t run the nitrous at the track…

wow 1st and 2nd must be tough…you’re not seeing boost till 5500 RPMs, and you’re launching off 100 wtq. That’s pretty tough.

Hopefully the nitrous fills in that massive gap in your powerband

Problem with these big big power builds in B5 land is that they tend to wait a month for boost. The relatively tiny V6 is really not able to help fill in the early part of the curve for you.

This is why ‘the dragstrip is irrelevant’ is the big argument of those Tial guys with poor tuning…they are setup to fail. The powerband is moved so far to the right, they can never really get into it, unless they just park it in fourth and do a speed test at double or triple the speed limit. They’re trying to turn the road into the dyno…and avoiding the entire sub 80 mph world of first second and third…the world 99.99% of us do 99.99% of our driving.

It just doesn’t work.

The majority of the gap was from poor 1-2 shifting lol. Once I get more confidence there (I had just swapped tranny for 1-2 shift collar failure) then that will help a lot.
But yeah the nitrous makes a big difference in the spool.

Here’s a little on ramp fun from this morning. And yes… I need a Go Pro lol.

BT, how long until the 3.0 liter block gets put in?

the gap is evident in your third gear pull pseudo dyno above…a big gap in your powerband from 0-5000 RPMs.

That’s a bit of an exageration… lol
And besides the largest rev drop (given my ~8000 rpm shift) is from 1st to 2nd, which is a drop down to around 4500 with the sloppy shift at the track… which with the nitrous is right back into the power band… so I think you’ll be surprised what the car will do with nitrous and clean shifting

I don’t know… I haven’t worked on it much given all the stuff I have been working on with the car lol

I was just clarifying that for 1 and 2 you are up against it with that powerband you posted above. If you don’t think so, we will agree o disagree. If you are launching from 3500-4000 RPM, you’re launching with 200 lb ft of torque. a.k.a. like an A4 3.2. That’s not very dynamic. Then you’re shifting into 2nd gear pretty quick because there’s not much of it, and are falling out of boost again. Then you’re back on to boost but now you’re at the 300 foot mark and have spent 25% of the track fighting the odds. That’s a huge gap in your powerband, and as I said, the nitrous will hopefully help you out early. You don’t need much help on the top end, although it’s falling off hard at 7000. You don’t see too many dynos where a car hits boost at 5000 RPM, make peak HP at 5500 RPM, and then lose power to redline…which is 2500 RPM later.

I don’t think I will be surprised what a B5 S4 with clean shifting, nitrous, and 35+ pounds of boost will do. Have a look here…I compiled all of the data in this list. I’m well aware of what cars should or shouldn’t do.

Let me know if you want me to add the 11.7 @ 132 to the list. It’s a good data point for non-nitrous, single turbo not at your biggest boost level.

If you leek at this image:

http://i1357.photobucket.com/albums/q755/britishturbo/117-rpm-over-time_zps34bcd152.png

You’ll see I launched at around 5000… and shifted at over 8000rpm each time. The Red line is rpm.

And yeah I’m going to get you that info to add to the list lol sorry been busy

btw I see my MPH would be 2nd on the list already… lol not too shabby ;D

#3… sorry

Dude…stop yiur suposed to be the staacceleration the b5 guys not more of the same…

Its not called the 1/4 mph list. 3rd best mph and 21st slowest time. Your 60ft isnt going to get you into the 10s. Your 3rd gear fats times just showed the fats time is a joke when it relates t0 1/4 mile atime… seriously dump all the wasted b5 back seat partisipation medal bs…

Come on man…you showed a 1.9 but a 11.7… your power band is taking a beating due to some lag issies and your on E85 your spooling has evdr best chance now that your adding 40% ectra fuel…

You can put njtrous on a 11.7 1.8t car and get it to wake up quite a bit…its nitrous. …

Here is my point. …you didnt do too bad… you knkw where your at with the set up…11.7 is about stajdard range for all stage 3+ b5 cars…the mph just says you took a different approach to tbe power band…keep at it bt style not b5 style…

lol wow, actually what all the data tells me is that when I learn to drive the car at the track - including launching properly, shifting well etc… is that the car will do 10’s. If you choose not to believe that then so be it.

Oh and the spool was better on pump gas actually… but then the E85 tune isn’t dialed in yet at all.

Don’t pretend you know how I drove the run from the ET… because you can’t see all the time that I know I lost by driving shitty, which I know cause I was the one driving lol.

I guess I’ll just show you when it happens. Carry on
