I think they’ll probably make it past Belgium. Argentina, it will be hard. But then again, we’ve had a hard group and managed to only lose against Germany.
I think people will be surprised when brazil and argentina make early exits. They just don’t look that good. Brazil especially looks really sloppy. Germany looks tight and solid. Netherlands too.
I wouldn’t mind France beating Brazil in the semis (France beats Brazil in 1986, 1998, 2006) hehe.
And if they did, that would mean France would have beaten Germany seeing as France would face Germany in the quarters assuming both make it (which will be a tough match).
Although Chile beating Brazil would be nice. My best friend from Chile is currently in town for the month and would be fun to celebrate his country’s win with him (even if it’s just the 16) But if Chile beat Brazil, they’ll have a chance to beat Colombia or Uruguay.
Holy smokes the US mens soccer team could teach England a thing or two about fitness, determination, committment, aggression. Those boys can hold their heads up high. Awesome game.
I enjoyed it as well. The one thing that stood out for me, regarding the USA team, was Howard. Had he not been on fire there wouldn’t have been an overtime and it would have been a more painful game to watch.
When did the British press ever have class? They’ll hack the cell phones of murdered girls, relatives of deceased British soldiers and victims of the 7/7 London bombings ffs.
And you know they’re doing because that shit sells because the British people are completely classless themselves.
Have you lived in the UK to see their tabloids each and every day? Your argument based on the last few pages of a Canadian publication is completely irrelevant and not even close to being on topic.
You just dug your argument’s grave with the portion I highlighted above. You should edit your original post to ‘The British tabloids’ rather than ‘The British press’.
You said ‘the British press’…then went on to describe the actions of a small group at 1 (now defunct) publication. That’s more relevant than my Now comparison?
To me, the British Press is the British Tabloids (I may have forgotten to specify print media, not radio or television). The BBC has decent news coverage but the print media is just horrible.
When I lived there, I couldn’t find a single decent British newspaper to read. I basically only bought the International Herald Tribune. It was the only newspaper worth reading (and it’s not British).
