I take it you haven’t messed around with B5 S4 OEM downpipes…both pre and main cats have O2 sensors located atop the DPs.
So to answer your question, Audi engineers on the B5 S4 ;D

Yea I’ve heard about the Milltek. I got it for $600, and it was before I even knew that it wasn’t really 2.5". I’m still happy with it though, for now. Like I said, JHM full exhaust is the next modification I do to this car, so it’s all good. This is merely a temporary setup.
slow4: I actually had a B5 S4 for 4 years, (NastyNogaro on AZ) and had 3 different sets of downpipes on it. Stock, piggies with straight pipes welded in, and then eventually upgraded to the 3" 034 downpipes which were beautiful pieces.
Take a look at the location of the rear bungs on the 034 ones: http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_images/4/275/369/38185184027_large.jpg
What about the JHM RS4 downpipes? Also located on the side. http://jhmotorsports.com/products/pictures/exhaust/B7-RS4/JHM_RS4_2-75_V2_Exhaust-DPs_installed.JPG
I’m not about to argue what Audi engineers did vs. what aftermarket companies do regarding bung locations on downpipes. My point is, if you are contemplating buying an XS product, understand that they don’t take into account these types of things, and can care less what modifications you need to do on your end just to make the shit fit. Could the downpipes have fit with the bungs located on top somewhere else? Sure, but why even risk it? Why not put them on the side for A. easier access and B. the ability to fit J-pipes.
So now, my XS downpipes have been modified with bungs on the side of the pipes, for these reasons stated.
^^^If you got a milltek for $600 that’s awesome. You’ll be able to sell it for that 7 years from now, so it’s a good buy. Sounds great. Just not so well designed…basically stock + volume = Milltek = $2,000
It’s crazy lol.
Nono, I wasn’t disagreeing with your post. I was just humorously answering your “who the fuck does that?” question.
That thread is fucking painful
Who is this gt-er moronic douchebag?
First he says this, for dramatic effect to curry some sympathy for the guy who bought the ghetto headers, and to paint jhm as a horrible company
View Post
he originally purchased JHM headers and AFTER A YEAR he still did not have the headers in his possession. .
Then he gets called out here by capt scuzzy, and on AZ by jfunkey. Then he changes his tune…
no one ever waited a year for JHM headers? Well, the OP did…plain and simple. He didn’t pay for them at the time , because as stated, they didn’t have them at the time due to their circumstances.
What a loser. Make up your mind you fucking liar. Then he goes after jfunkey for bad spelling lol. Hey…fucking new guy…welcome to 2008, which was the first time someone tried to make fun of jfunkeys spelling. Back then, just like now, people found out the hard way it doesn’t do anything but make it clear jfunkey just fucking owned you and all you have to come back with is spelling corrections.
And JHM headers are $2750, not $3000. Are we just randomly rounding up by $250 now to make the argument of buying these shitty Xs power joints better?
Someone… Please please please post the rsfazz review of his X’s power Down pipes in that thread on audizine.
I’ve posted twice about XSPower/SSAC’s history of illfitting and cheap production downpipes for the B5/B6/B7 platforms but it seems that the “supporters” just ignore history and want to give the products a “chance.”
It boggles my mind about all the negative experiences I’ve read in regards to XSPower/SSAC and yet they are still accepted as possibilities.
Come on guys, I’m sure this “customer” will be very happy and is in no way being compensated or affiliated with XS-Power. Also, his “friend” who created his account in Dec 2008, does’t appear to own an Audi, and has never posted until that thread is just trying to back up his “friend” with very valid points.
I smell BS…
Strait from their ebay ad
“Check us out on Audizine - we will be makin the rounds”
Yet they are not a sponsor there so how else could the possibly advertise?
I gave up, if all those fucks want to waste their money…then they can get fucked.
The OP ran out of money buying the JHM supercharger kit and is skimping now. It would have made more sense to do the stage 1 with a nice DP back exhaust.
Look what he said…his only mods are the JHM supercharger and XS power headers
Hopefully next saturday. The only day my mechanic can work on the car is saturday due to his work schedulle.
No other mods on the engine: jhm supercharger and the headers…
…and he isn’t even doing this himself, He is probably paying someone…only adding to the cost of installing a shit product.
whatever…
It’s funny, some people really need to learn the hard way. I can take one look at those pictures of the headers and know they are garbage, so can many others. It’s the people that think these companies like XS give two shits about them and their cars that get screwed. Has an XS employee ever even sat inside an Audi before? ;D
Anyways, I should really re-iterate, AFTER I got the XS downpipes modified and fit correctly, they really do sound awesome. I mean the car has totally woken up. It’s been raining here in NJ so I haven’t been able to really open the car up anywhere, but I am excited to get that chance. The crackling when letting off the gas is a beautiful thing, and the RS4 V8 just sounds like a beast when it can breathe freely.
Slow4: I wish I took your advice about the ill fitting downpipes. Both swesna and I anticipated they would fit really well, I mean they are like exact copies of the Milltek catless it looks like. They were also in his basement next to his stock downpipes and comparing them side by side they looked like they would fit. Either way, it’s done now, I paid the extra money to have them modified and that’s that. Overall I am very happy with my current exhaust setup.
You really do get what you pay for, especially in the automotive industry. I would never buy something from XS given their reputation that required me to pull my motor. You can’t expect to bolt those headers up and think you are good for 3+ years. I bet they don’t even last 1.
We will see how these downpipes hold up. Again, I am going JHM soon, just want to find someone who wants my setup first before i take the plunge. It’s definitely a great sounding exhaust (even if the Milltek isn’t 2.5"!!! lol)
Oh and yes saki I got it for $600… SHIPPED! lol not a bad deal. Steve hooked it up with the downpipes for $100 so all in all, $700 + $500 to fit and modify the XS downpipes to fit, $1200 installed for a full catless exhaust for the RS4, with oval tips. Not great, but not terrible. People pay $2,000 just for a ‘2.5"’ catback for the RS4 :o
yeah that’s not bad at all now that it fits
Bet it sounds killer. The most annoying thing about milltek is how good it sounds… Makes me want to just buy a used one like you to throw on for fun. Then I step back and don’t do it
I have a Jhm catted beta fullback in my basement right now. I haven’t been in a rush to throw it on. Still on audi warranty. Actually got a cel for a knock sensor so we will get to put that to use if some work needs doing.
Ohhhh the irony
Bensti stepping into the thread about a company reverse engineering and ripping off a Jhm exhaust product.
Surprised he hasn’t been blasted out of there yet lol

^^ saki, what app is that?
Also, did you read his reply:
But you forget that much of what comes out of china is that, cheap replicas of other people’s products…
I wonder what am I forgetting if I posted a similar statement referring to XSPower/SSAC
looks like tapatalk with a different color scheme.

They even fit the super duper rare DSG B6-B7 S4!
I actually want to see people buying these headers. That way when I see “SSAC Headers” in their signature I will automatically know that the user I am looking at is a dumb ass.
“Here’s your sign”
looks like the thread got closed on AZ
I don’t know how often amyone says this… good for audizine
SsaChina has been knocking off venders and getting away with it for too long
It’s a cancer for the platform.
