Sure, however that’s not what the myth says. The myth says you suck up sediment and oh noes…
You should post a thread about your S5 and RS4. You should also change your username to something that identifies your shop connection. Is GRD still in business, or has there been a name change?
Thank you all. I have run my car down to about 20 miles on the range dial. Even that low there is still about 2 gallons left. Obviously going lower is a must. They seem to be changing the weather forecast for Sunday in Jacksonville NC. No rain but warmer and the prog charts show a front coming in, no high in the area. Of course the forecast will change again.
West, you just did me a favor, thanks. It’s been about 5 months since I last went to the strip. I thought I had 104 octane in garage, obviously I was wrong. At least now I know exactly what I’ll be burning. Will have 10 gallons of 102 with me.
Alright, just got back and the night was mixed emotions.
First and only legitimate run was my first run at 12.007@119 with a 1.786 60’.
Second and third runs the clutch started slipping so I eased off and coasted down the track. After the third run I called it quits after that not wanting to make things worse. Time was good but the trap was screaming and I figure if I were to upgrade the clutch I would have no problem dipping into the 11s.
If the clutch doesn’t sort itself out might need an upgrade. Slipping is always scary at the strip… You’re terrified you’re going to get stranded and it’s always in the MOFN so it’s never fun
DP, do you know your density altitude during the runs? Also, unrelated, for anyone running REVO position number four on their SPS is for any fuel 100 octane or above.
Quite welcome. Good luck on your track visit if you end up going.
If you can run car down to 0 miles and drive for 5-10 miles past 0… you should be good. That’s what we usually do, then add the 5 gallons of ms109 and drive the car hard (usually second or third gear pulls while data logging) en route to the track for a few miles.
We have our track trip down to a science at this point with gas calculations and race gas adding destination along the way.
It usually takes 2-3 runs down the track before it’s running consistent and adapted for us.
Thats what I did yesterday and then there was a shit ton of traffic getting to the track and I thought I was going to run out of gas before I got there.
DA from my app was -867 so pretty close. Lots of cars breaking last night due to the cold temps. Feels good and bad that I got that run in, sucks because I wasn’t able to make any more solid runs and probably won’t until I do something about the clutch.
Is a slipping clutch at the track something that can sort itself out? I imagine hot lapping and the race map exasperated the issue but I didn’t notice any of that on the pump map. Car drives fine and stalls if I try to start it in 5th so I believe its OK, maybe just not OK enough for high RPM launches.
