2014 B8.5 S4's...

Why’d you copy that over here? It makes you look kinda crazy…

He is not admitting anything. He is telling you why your results are what they are. You didn’t pay for trend lines. You paid for

  1. elimination of the stock boost restriction (done)
  2. a pulley to spin the blower to a higher rpm than stock, to deliver more CFM of air to the engine (done)
  3. parameters that increase power made by your car (timing, AFR, etc) (done)

The fact that your car is short shifting (transmission problem) or has a shallower redline than MT and 2010-2012 DSG is not Arin’s fault or anyone’s.

Just wait for a TCU tune and calm down.

Saki, I am crazy!!! Thanks.

yes, excessive question marks and exclamation points generally leads to that diagnosis

Saki, I think your member rating and all the stars next to your handle is affecting your judgement. You’re taking yourself far to seriously. That’s my diagnosis…as good as yours I’d wager. Keep smiling and thanks for the entertainment.

again…your on the internet now grandpa, not on your CB radio at home or your VHF radio in an airplane.

Stop with the “handle” thing

Interweb? Wow! I guess you helped Al Gore invent it? Is there something you’d like to do about my age? Do you have something against senior citizens? Good grief!

I thought they were called net handles. Where did I go wrong?

who cares how old or young anyone is. If they know what they’re talking about, that’s all that matters on a forum.

Skywagon hasn’t a fucking clue what he’s doing…that’s all that matters here…and the people who are telling him what he oughtta be doing are wasting their breath. That skywagon synopsis by the new guy was bang on.

Saki, do work for APR? Regardless, I just left a shop where a gent professionally road races a 700 HP BMW that started as a 135i. Also does extensive work on BMWs of all kinds. I paraphrase…APR knows their tune is not working on newer cars. The ECUs just get smarter and smarter. Also, I do know what I’m fucking doing…having lots of fun!
Thanks for the kind words.

I think what everyone is saying here is the ecu part of the tune is working. The TCU part of the car is limmiting performance due to a smaller power curve and limited RPM. They’re saying if you’d have another thousand RPM you’ll be making power longer and that’ll result in faster acceleration.

For instance. Goto the track and shift in every gear at 5000rpm you’ll be slower then you currently are. Get the TCU extending the RPM and you’ll see the extra acceleration you’re missing.

Fwiw and since I started this thread, the short shifting is a huge part of the issue as I and others have stated numerous times however the logs that I’ve reviewed show less timing than 13 and older cars between 4000 rpm and 6200 rpm… I’ll say it was a few cars so technically not statistically significant but there is/was a difference in the logs I looked at… I really wish we had psu’s logs but since GIAC won’t share them we don’t… I’ll go review the book on vendorzine and see what is being said over there as I didn’t spend much time on the forums today… Just my .02 as I think something is different… Could be conditions, gas, etc. but I don’t think so… Of course I could be wrong and I don’t tune and, just a user…

Ok, wow that thread is a mess… Anyone with a 14 6-speed car that can log? Be nice to see timing and retard up to 7k as well as the 4-6k range… That’s the only real difference I’ve seen…

I think Arin is being rational and trying to get data to prove or disprove things… Unfortunately he’s gotten mostly noise and few facts… Dominick’s car makes things interesting as he’s run good time albeit in good air… Would be nice to see logs of his car, has anyone asked him?

Would also be nice if Austin commented or shared his customers logs with others… The dsg tuned cars not performing is what really confuses me…

Maybe I should quit pushing logging and drag racing to others, raises too many questions ;D lol

Are any of the 2014 guys capable of logging themselves? One major source of this cluster fuck seems to be all these 2014 guys requiring shops to hold their hands for logging…only to pass them on to GIAC or APR for analysis. You kind of need to be “there” to fix things and check them.

Even better if you can analyze them. I have a pretty shit matlab script I used to generate my figures. If people are interested, I could spend a little more time to make it useful.

Drob, true… I messaged cap’n toll and he needs to get them from apr first… I’d use any tool you put together as I’m always 1offing shit… Lol.

Ask arin about that one

I can log. I have a 2015–but it’s stock. Would that benefit this discussion at all?
Oh and btw, I assume a vagcom is required to do this–I can borrow one. However, one does one start the process of logging?

Jran made a good thread on AZ: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/611658-How-To-VCDS-Performance-Logging

Might want to invest in a vagcom cable, especially if you ever plan to start modding. Works for all VW/Audi’s which is also nice. I’d grab that bluetooth version once Ross Tech sorts it out.

I can try and log my 14 6MT this weekend too. Stock except for exhaust.

Ron, APR knows my car will not achieve 7000 RPM. APR knows that’s where the HP is and where the timing will achieve it’s optimum. Yet APR sold me a tune that, until the shift RPM is increased, is essentially worthless. That’s my beef! I took delivery of a new computer yesterday which I will dedicate solely to logging, if this helps? I’ve not heard anything from REVO. I’m continuing with my hole in the hood and have assembled all the parts and had them painted. An Auquamist water/ethanol system lays at my feet as I type.
Thanks

lots of the guys who pay $60,000 - 70,000 for a new to order car aren’t young tech savvy guys who like to work on cars. They’re professionals and family people with not much time and often, not much no-how.
