You’d think with all the issues going on with the 2014 S4s that they’d jump on this. I don’t see how they can potentially work on a stage 3 kit of their standard stage 2 stuff for the newer cars is suffering.
APR has several logs from me as well as some sent from GMP in Charlotte professionally compiled. Also Primetime and a couple of other gents have seen them too. Not much more I can do there.
I don’t think I’ve posted any but I could or I could send them to you… Just real busy lately not trying to make excuses… We’re going to need to extend the chart up to 30 as most of my values are in the 20-30 range ;D I’ll send you a file and if you’d be so kind to graph it and post I’m fine with that otherwise it will probably have to wait a few days…
Just sent a few your way… Like I said feel free to post anything up… They were all at the strip over the past few years… Let me know if you need any details from them… They are all dated…
Cool, thanks Ron, I’ll try to put them up when I get the chance.
Skywagon: do you know if that figure Arin made with your timing vs RPM was from a 93 or 100 file? Not necessarily the gas you ran, but specifically which APR file.
All: do you think it’s safe to say the tune requests an ignition advance timing equation similar to this
?? Is that too simplistic? Assume the signs are all correct. I know you can log a requested timing with VCDS, but I only grabbed actual timing during my run. Can I infer information about what my tune is requesting by inverting this calculation to get requested timing?
They may just be referring to fixing their boost issue on the stage II file which was the whole point of their v2 file on the other B8/8.5 model years. This is something, at least in my understanding, that APR addressed early on in their files. Only point being that I would love to know if the reference to a fix identified an ECU issue causing performance degradation beyond the boost problem they were already known to be fixing.
Below is a link to a shop I spent yesterday afternoon with during an Aquamist methanol injection install. They are a Revo dealer and also have a very sophisticated dyno. They are also trying to nudge Revo along. Owner states the dyno can be used to tune a particular car as well. He has contacted APR about attempting to reach some type of an agreement to get into their, APR’s, tune to see if my problem is correctable. However, since APR says my tune is OK I’m not holding my breath!
Drob, the 2014 B8.5s come with no switching, only one tune. It was inferred to me by Majestic Motorsports the new ECU’s are dumbing down, defeating ECU tunes?
I was told by a GIAC dealer just the other day that their V2 switching, which should be available soon(?), is simply to turn the tune off and on. Revo has a switching tune but not yet for the 8.5s. APR…next year for the 8.5s?
Stop relying on dealers for information, many of them are clueless as fuck…especially in this example. A 5 minute search on audizine would have answered this question.
2014 6mt GIAC stage 2
Roc Euro intake
1/4 tank of gas
No idea tire pressure.
So I went just to get a feel for my car and see how fast it was. Not my first time in AWD car at the track but its been awhile. Wasn’t sure how to launch the car (ESC on/off dump or slip the clutch) but I managed some decent 60’s. Regardless the trap speed wasn’t there and I have no idea if my car is suffering the same issues as the DSG cars are or my driving is just that bad. I thought for sure my traps would be higher but I think at first I was shifting to early (7000 vs 7300) and the last one I bogged the shit out of the launch but the trap was higher. DA all night was right around 1000 if that matters.
I didn’t log anything as I would have to borrow a cable and didn’t want to worry about the logging the first time with my car. Will go back and hopefully get some logs.
d.p, thanks for sharing… DA. Matters quite a bit but 1000 is pretty good this time of year, what track was this? Given your stage 2 that is a low trap… ETs not great either but would improve with better 60s… Never dragged a 6speed b8 but with my TTRS it’s best to sweep the revs up to 4500-5500 and then just dump the clutch… It’s pretty violent but yields high 1.6 low 1.7 60s… You need to log the car too see what is up? I bet it’s low timing like the other 14s…
