Jim, great to have you on the board you’ll be a great resource and I for one appreciate that!
Oh in other news… Look what Austin from GIAC posted… Looks like I was on to something with all the logs I reviewed and I’m just a dumb user… Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while, right? Lol
Apparently not - either I don’t know how or I can’t edit until I have more posts… Yes, reading it back I can see how that’s not clear - sorry for the confusion - Mike = Drob23, Ron = primetime
I wonder if this means GIAC had specific 2014 maps that were conservative (V1), or if they just rolled out the previous V1 maps for the 2014 ECU files ? And, are the V2 maps still different enough that owners should expect different results for a 2014 car vs the 2010-2013 engines?
Unfortunately, will never know as I can’t see Austin sharing that not that I think he should… My guess would be it started as the 2013 map with probably a few tweaks and then released… The issue probably stemmed from them wanting to get to market and not testing in varying conditions… They may have seen the same behavior as the 13s locally and figured all was well… Subsequently they probably found some differences in the tables or ecu strategies that needed to be tweaked so not to run the low timing values… Again, a guess on my part…
CV, any thoughts on the 14 cars and what could be different or what the tuners are finding?
So… AWE logs PSUs car, well kind of… The logs were a joke… Wrong fields selected and no turbo or group by so pretty much useless… They tell him everything is fine yet they later have him back for hours of logging on the dyno… For what I wonder? Everything is fine… They then conclude the iats are high, really? No shit it’s a fucking dyno go log the car at the strip or street… Now these logs were inconclusive and irrelevant in GIACs decision to revise the tune, even though it ran a 13.xx with tune and tcu tune… Can’t blame the low shift points here like APR… Let me guess the cooling system upgrade and he’s running 12s? No fucking way… Oh and they won’t let anyone see said logs… No worries I’ve seen how others behave in bad iat conditions… Bottom line the tune was not good in warm/hot conditions… Glad they are/have fixed it just stop treating us like idiots… Now I feel like federer… Lol
AWE asked me today if I would come up to test a tune and do some data logging. I asked for details and how long I would be there but have yet to hear back. It just seems to me that Austin is trying to lay blame elsewhere when he should just admit they were wrong and promise to make it right.
d.p, I’d take them up on it if it’s not a huge inconvenience to you… Just make sure they give you a copy of the logs and log the right shit… It will be interesting anyway as temps and conditions are improving which only benefits the perceived affect of the new tune… I’d really love too see psu reflashed and some new passes…
Yep, just say hey the tune had issues and we’ve fixed it…
Welcome to the site. Looks like you’re well aware of the very knowledgeable guys on here. That’s great information you’ve put together. Don’t be afraid to make an introduction thread. Helps guys like myself that might not know you from other websites. It also is a great way to show off your ride.
From what Austin posted it looks like the IATs are reading higher across the board on the 2014s. Granted it is a small sample size, but really interesting if that is indeed the case. I didn’t think there was any hardware change between 2013 and 2014
I don’t know if that is the case. I think what he is saying is the IAT’s are higher due to the conditions, but the 2014 is responding differently by pulling more power/timing.
GIAC Stage II V2 2nd-5th gear pull. 93 Tune, 91 octane ethanol free gas, Shell V-Power. DA around 2000
This was my last pull of the night. No methanol on this run. Boost seems low, Ron can you comment on what kind of boost you see in 75-80 degree humans weather?
The value is absolute boost, not the other.
Knock is awesome for running ethanol free v power 91. I was a little hesitant, but after seeing values I am confident that gas is top notch.
Jeff, I just looked and in 75-80 degree heat stage II I see 15.0-15.5 psi in the upper RPM’s of 3rd and 4th gear… Can you send me the logs? Would like to see the raw data…
Just reviewed some other very interesting logs… I’ll let him post them before commenting…
