I data log my car, send the logs to GIAC, they review- make adjusters and re-flash me. Local GIAC dealer is ~5 miles from me and I get flashed and I’m on my way…
APR has done similar for Tsivas and Ron…
So yeah I guess you can say all our cars are custom tuned then…
I’m going to TMP in the Spring to see how my car does on 93 and hopefully get the 104 tune tested as well. Hopefully we can set something up with the GTA guys. Is Pete the only 6mt guy to run 11s on 93 so far?
I try not to post out of emotion. I have been doing this for over a decade personally and I have dealt with my fair share of forum people with very passionate and opinionated views.
Your “facts” statement though needs some work
Here are some Facts:
Our showroom stock B8 S4 went 12.45@110mph at about 500ft DA with a 1.82 60ft. So far on that list the ONLY car that I can see that went quicker than that on a tune only did so by a .04 seconds and in -1300 DA. I assume it is a tune only as he has left the field blanks. This is on an off the shelf S4 tune by EPL after an impromptu run to the track. This was our one and only time taking the car to the track. I’m sure with better conditions that number can be improved on.
We know how to make parts, just ask our customers over the past 14 years. Ask The countless customer’s running around in ALPHA powered GT-R’s. We break records to PROVE our parts. We have used that formula since we started this company. We have or still do hold every major record in the platforms we have worked with. The GT-R is really the best example as we are still very active in that platform. The ONLY record we don’t hold in fact was just taken from us and that was the standing mile speed. We might go after this one day but honestly its the one record we never really cared much about as our customers that compete in these events only care about ET…and making our customers happy is job #1.
We do still hold the following records
Best GT-R 1/4 ET: 7.98 seconds
Best GT-R 1/4 MPH: 186.6 Mph
Best 60-130 (for any car recorded) 2.67 seconds
Best 100-150 (for any car recorded) 2.42 seconds
Best 30-130 (for any car recorded) 3.63 seconds
Best 0-186 (for any car recorded) 7.98 seconds
Worlds fastest standing half mile for a GT-R: 214mph
Worlds quickest standing mile for a GT-R: 22.0 seconds
Worlds first 9 second GT-R
Worlds first 8 second GT-R
Worlds first 7 second GT-R
We have built more GT-R’s in the 8’s than the three next competitors combined.
“But this isn’t a GT-R” You are right but I put those there not to brag but to show you that in order to achieve that you have to know what you are doing. We entered the Mercedes 5.5biturbo market and within weeks broke the standing 1/2 mile MPH for that car. In the EVO World we were on top before we decided to pull back from that market. Again this isn’t dumb luck. We did our research just like we have with every platform. The Audi will be no different.
I know that you have a great deal of passion for the Audi but as we have learned working with the GT-R, Porsche, BMW, R8, Mercedes etc…they are all cars. Do they each carry their own unique challenges? Absolutely…but they are still all cars. We will work our way through this one just like we have with every other one.
“evo style testing” We pride ourselves on testing these cars at full weight. We went 8.20 in our GT-R with a full interior before tossing a slick on the car to crack off a 7. If you mean back to back testing with actual empirical data to show if something works…yeah you can expect that from us.
You are clearly happy with APR. Stick with them, they are a great company. We plan on coexisting peacefully with them and if they want to develop tunes for our parts we welcome that opportunity. If EPL proves they can’t get the job done then we will address that. However Tony has shown no signs of that happening and we believe in what he can do. Tony is a smart guy and With Martin and Chris here at AMS (who do our in house tuning) I bet those three can lock down some awesome options for Audi owners.
in closing i have learned It’s ok to waive your flag, just don’t shove it down someones throat. It’s capitalism, if you don’t like it, don’t buy it.
DSG or 6-speed… Please post the slip and vid if you have one, which given your guys record I assume you do… That time would be about .35 quicker than the fastest stock DSG and about .25 faster than the stock 6-speed… Won’t call BS but I would like to see some proof… Props on the rest of your post and I look forward to seeing what you guys do… For the record my 10 DSG car went 12.85 @ 109 in 1700 DA with 770 miles on the car…
Eric, Thanks for the clarification and that is a pretty good time, especially ET the trap is a little slow… Keep in mind all runs aren’t recorded in the database just bests usually… Vendorzine is the same way… None the less a good start for the car…
Edit: damn, internet went out and I’m 7 posts late now haha
Prime, I think he meant that time was on a “tune only” car. I.e. it was a “bone stock car” + a tune.
Could be wrong, but depends how you read the second sentence. Either way, please share the slip for everyone’s.
Thanks for coming and posting. Again, everyone is excited to see AMS enter the Audi market, and glad they ponied up and bought an actual test car. Shows you want to do it the right way! And I think we all appreciate the thorough testing and proving of products that you’ve done in other platforms. That is something that historically been overlooked by most Audi companies until people started demanding it, and it’s still only a maybe for some of the companies in the market.
Guys, the car was not stock. What he means by showroom stock is everything on it is stock, exhaust, wheels, tires etc.
They added the EPL tune and went 12.45 @ 110.
So it is a 93 or 100 tune and it went 12.45 @ 110
Now, I would love to see a timeslip to add it to the list because this would be one of the fastest EPL cars ever, be that B8 or B5/6/7 I would also like to be able to confirm +5000 feet of density altitude.
I’m a little concerned that the date appears to have been deleted from the timeslip. Here’s what a Byron Dragway timeslip looks like…
