haha yup
that’s why you want a non-car-model related username…case you sell it and get another Audi.

I’m drubk, most things are misleading
That stock time is mighty impressive. I might have to go and test a B8 S4 just for shits and giggles. Maybe even do some pulls against my B6
[QUOTE=AUDI A5;7316274]Hey guys, it was great to meet the ones that where there late. I didnt get there until 2, but got some runs in. Best was a 12.92. My car is bone stock, dsg and I was running on Dunlop Wintersport 3d’s (winter set up). Then fell off and ran dead on 13.0’s. Car is deadly consistant if you know what your doing [>_<][:D] All those years of racing pay off I guess. I shoul have drove some of the other cars [drive][s4]

This dude is funny. I guess if you can get an awd with winter tires and dsg to be consistent then you’re an awesome driver. Must be “all those years experience.” ::). I wish I could have seen him “drove” all other other people’s cars with those scary good driving skills.
Nice! Glad everyone had fun and made it out of there safe… sucks for the dude who grenaded his clutch as that is shitty feeling that I know too well as I have done it in my mustang twice… that is my biggest fear when I travel to race… sorry I couldn’t make it, had to go with my mom to the doctor on friday and the weather here was horrible… we have about 1+ foot of snow that came between friday afternoon and yesterday midday… Based on Jason’s results it looks like the conditions got better as the day went on… 12.08 with his mods is solid…
Matt, yeah I saw that dudes comments and was thinking he had to have a 6-speed… LOL… Best is he redlighted twice and only had 1.8x 60… bet he didn’t tweak airpressure in his tires at all… heck my car ran a better time when it was stock with 770 miles on it and a near 2k da…
Any vids floating around? richi?
Oh and what did Marty run in his 335?
Marty didn’t run his 335. In fact there was a group of BMW guys there in 335’s with various mods. All of them were in the 13’s. They were having a tough time hooking up.
MDMA2004 took a bunch of videos that he’ll post up soon. It was his clutch that went. He has the same clutch as Richi.
What is the best way to get traction in rwd in weather that cold?
Jason’s brother, he’s got a mid 90’s mustang that he races regularly, was giving me some tips on trying to get off the line better but I just couldn’t seem to cut better than 2.1. I’ve cut 1.8 at Atco before but not yesterday. I wish you could bypass the water box at Atco but they force you through it. He seemed to think that was hurting me.
How would you have tried it? I had the stock PS2’s on.
Yeah. Towards the end of the day there were a few minutes when the wind let up all the way. Almost immediately Spazz ran a 12.08, a new personal best, and AudiA5 ran a 12.9, 2nd fastest stock dsg time I think. I think if they both could have had a chance to get a handful of runs in during those conditions they might have gotten even faster times.
Overall, I think people got enough runs in to have had a chance to run without much wind interference. The track wasn’t busy at all.
Matt, gotcha… well cold temps, a cold track, and street tires is about the worst sceanrio for launching a high hp rwd car… I would have probably started at 20psi or so in the rears, done a decent burnout to try and warm them a little w/o roasting them since they aren’t dr’s or slicks and varied the launch rpm to try and find the sweet spot between bogging and spinning… it’s trial and error until you learn the particular car well… I may have went down to 15psi but with the wind you have to be very careful on the big end with lowering the pressure too much and losing control at 120mph… what does the converter let you rev to on the auto? also, modulating the gas pedal to WOT would probably help vs just hammering it… again just speculating w/o seeing what you were doing… that sucks you have to go through the waterbox as most tracks let you drive around them… this couldn’t have been helping you either… just my .02…
and of course i left before then wind let up ::), but we left for MDMA to get his car up to the shop. this questions for prime, what would you have done about your tire pressure with my tires. i got to the track on 38psi and ran shitty times, then i dropped it to 31psi and immediately ran 12.5’s i was just nervous about going too low. wha would be too low in your opinion, i just kept spinning and wheel hopping

due to a run in with jack herrera i didn’t realize the sd card in my go pro was set to lock…lol

I’ll be honest I don’t have the experience with snows nor a decent HP 6-speed Audi… with my car I have to launch off idle so that takes the rpm variation out of the equation… everything for me is based on the car hooking and getting good weight transfer out of the hole… fortunately, the car makes such good tq instantly it does well with this tranny… I had to go as low 28psi in the rears(Conditions: 48F, 42% humidity, 30.18 BP… DA was 550… ) to get a good hook with little to no spin… you probably could have went a little lower like 24-26psi… IMO you are still pretty safe with that pressure but 50mph head/cross winds can be scary… Most tracks would have restricted cars to 1/8th miles, that is what Thompson did early last year when we had similar conditions… what rpm were you launching at? do you dump the clutch or slip it?
this clutch was new to me obviously. first launch ever was at the track. i tried a bunch of different rpm’s and the best rpm was 3100 rpm otherwise it had a lot of wheel hop if i went higher but any lower it would bog. yet still at 3100 i had tire spin and i was slipping it hard, when i would dumped it it stepped out of the hole a little sideways

I think that’s saying it all. hahahahaha
why didn’t marty run his 335? If it runs nearly as well as he runs his mouth he’d have set a world record. ???
Best part is that after jumping on me whenever he could for calling out tomfoolery in the B8 section and calling me a B8 hater for it (even though I have never said a bad word about the car) he ended up buying a 335 and eventually grew to hate the moronic chit chat and bench racing on the B8 forum more than I ever did. He was so protective of the B8 S4 lol. I think I once described him as a roid-raging over-protective boyfriend at a club…but it wasn’t even his girl he was protecting.
Marty showed up a little late with D&D coffee for the whole group. I had him pretty much convinced to run when he spotted a small group of 335 guys he recognized from the BMW forums. I think once he chatted with those guys and watched them all run mid to high 13’s he lost interest.
As for the AudiA5 guy, his post just seemed like a jab at some of the guys that were there which surprised me. We all had a great time then went to dinner afterwards and had even more fun. It seemed totally unnecessary to say that he should have been driving other people’s cars for them.
something that i had totally missed but tsivas pointed out, the left lane was trapping much higher. my traps were really inconsistent
Rich- I’m setting up runs this week. Revo car is game so he says.
Wed they are calling for rain but other nights look good.
I want a good damn pump vs pump run. Bring the vbox too.
what were petes highest traps?

yeah, that was a jackass thing to say. I think maybe he meant he’d like to know what him driving the other cars would do so he could compare them to his stock time so he can see what the mods do.
Actually no. No matter how you re-word that was a douchebag post.
