C5 allroad

Ended up going with the lighter grey. But, second guessing now not because of input but realized my hvac vents are basically a steely dark silver.

Meh, oh well. I wanted more of a contrast against the black alcantara…

Allroad interior (and exterior for that matter) is such a hodge podge. Brown, beige, black, steely silver, silver cluster rings, etc…

Low oil warning light. New issue and first since owning this car. It barely if at all consumed oil. I did have leaking valve covers, those have been replaced.

I was well over a quart low and obviously have a sizeable leak. I noticed the face of my charger is covered in a oily film. Time to chase down another issue I suppose.

Wonder if I am suffering from a faulty oil cooler / fitting like axel had dealt with on more than one occasion during his sc ownership?

Also going to check my pancacke pc valve behind the oil filter housing.

Other news, got my gauge pod. Pretty happy with it.

And update from steering wheel. New audisport emblem ready to place on flat bottom.

Nice updates.

As for the oil how long was the last time you had to add oil. Did you go on any long trips. After your last long trip did you see any oil consumption.

With the supercharger you should have a very strong updated PCV system so that part should be good. The oil on the face of the blower looks like oil with dirt so it looks kinda older and not from just a few days ago. Do you have your belly pan on the car still.

You might want to consider taking it off for a few days and parking the car over some news paper checking to see if you get any oil drips.

All of the aluminum motors eat a little oil everything from the RS4 to the new 3.0T S4 one of the best things you can do is make sure to use the right seasonal oil and make sure to get thicker as it gets hotter and hotter out. Not saying thats nessessarly where it went just thought I would take this chance to mention that.

I will drop the belly pan and search around.

I live in a pretty dry dusty climate. Last weekend I did go down to Phoenix. Hotter temps and got stuck in bumper to bumper traffic for very long stretches. Like 35-50 miles long heading up the hill. Was getting very eradict idle dip and had to turn ac off which stabilized idle. After that trip is where I got the low level lamp yesterday. I really didnt even think to look at oil level because i had never needed to add oil between changes. I will be checking religiously now.

Prior to that, I took the car to San Diego about a month ago. I did not see any consumption issues after that much longer trip.

Email me with what you find out! I will be your direct contact now by the way.

Unfortunately with these 4.2s oil consumption can start at any time.

Sometimes these supercharges will sweat some oil, so that could also be a possibility for the film on the blower.

I can’t tell from the pictures that you have posted but do you have the block off cover that covers up the opening behind the fog light grill to the front of the SC pulley?

My S4 doesn’t have that block off cover and I stopped heckling the guys at JHM about it a while ago after asking a bunch. Supposedly that block off cover is to be for cars that see snow but I would think that it also helps keep dirt, dust, and water out of the belt area and front of the SC.

Also have an oil leak around that area of my S4 that I need to track down too after it comes back from the body shop.

Thanks Jake.

Not sure I like that notion of oil consumption issues popping up at any given time but guess its nature of beast. >:(

Thanks Jake. Z already sick of me? ;D

On that note, any word on belt squeek vid I sent Z?

@jimmybones, I am having difficulty seeing content of your post. Interested to get your input. Thanks

There is a block off cover that goes behind the fog light grill to stop snow and crap from getting on the front of the SC and belt area. I was asking if you had it.

Then I need to track down an oil leak around the same area on my car. I think that you are on the right path looking around the oil cooler lines and thermostat.

Thanks.

I dont have a block off plate as far as I know. My sc and belt area is open and exposed like in the pic I posted. Only the fog grill and light.

Update from ebay steering wheel. Just waiting on mail now. Pretty stoked to get this in the car.

Really like the look from the pic.

Also finally ordered new maf, rear 02’s and plx digital boost gauge from jhm.

Your not a snow state car so you would want to not have the block off plate. By leaving the area open the air can get past the supercharger and cool it off when driving at low speeds and on the expressway.

Also I just remembered. That the actual fill prosedure from vortech is to fill the blower with blower oil to a certian spot and to just let the blower weep out the oil it dosent want. So its common to have blower oil on the face. Check the face and see if the oil has a small red tint to it even with the dirt on it.

I actually am in a snow state or at least town. Flagstaff is at 7000 feet elevation and regularly gets snow

That would get you some snow. In the winter if they are really bad it isnt a bad idea to put the cover up but for the hotter temps is really good to leave the air passing by the blower. I know a few Audi guys have noticed a big difference in lower temps but the good thing about JHM using the vortech blowers is a ton of domestic guys use them and they sware by it

Pretty darn sweet work assignment today. Decided to drive my own car instead of work truck knowing the nice drive in store. Marble Canyon/Lee’s Ferry near north rim at the Grand Canyon.

Replacing maf and hopefully rear 02’s this weekend. See what comes of that diy project. Maf is no brainer but we’ll see about the 02’s. Also got my digital boost gauge in order from jhm.

Great pics thanks for posting.

The MAF is easy just make sure you look at the flow direction when you put it in. that is a simple step some people miss. As for the 02s just make sure the car is cool they are not to bad to do. If its the S1 sensors on each side you might be able to do them from the top

That’s awesome!!
