I love how you put totally reversable in there.

Its bold thats for sure. Kinda a hard call If your asking me I dont think it follows the flow of the car. If your looking for something bold that stands out.you got it right

I agree Justin. Kind of on the fence but leaning towrad keeping it for a bit. I don’t necessarilly want bold, rather more subtle color accent to standout on the drab alpaca beige

The hits just keep coming. Car is stranded. Accelerate from grocery store lot, car bogs, bucks then shuts down. Wont start. Cranks and tries to fire, but won’t stay on. Smell of unburnt fuel. Luckily I was able to coast off main road to a parking spot. Gonna let it sit and see if it wont fire up to get it home. Thoughts, ideas, help…this is really getting old.

Drove my reliable B5 S4 and scanned these new codes. Lol!

18628 - O2 B1 S1 P2196 - 004 signal too high (rich)

16490 - Manifold / barometric pressure sensor (g71) / (f96) P0106 - 008 Implausible Signal

I guess the too rich code may help explain fuel smell? First I have ever had to deal with manifold issues.

Great, a little research on ross tech shows “known problems with timing chain tensioners can result in this code”

Exactly what I was afraid of, bullshit Timing chain issues. FML! And this car.

Lesson learned, dont sweat the small stuff. Check simple stuff first. Blew off the intake charge pipe. Refastened and fixed. Not sure what it is about this car but I just dont have a peaceful easy feeling about it. Always suspect the worst. Sorry for being chicken little. Ha!

In putting the silicone pipe back on I noticed the inlet where it attaches at rear of manifold has no lip to speak of. Is this normal? Wonder how I can try and sure that up to make sure it doest keep happening?

You can make a fastener. Sounds like you like the car but have some finicky stuff. Always check small stuff on these cars as they make a big difference! Blowing a hose off can cause some issues as well as inlets. Perhaps jhm has some ideas?

Yep, she’s a high maintenance bitch. Thank god my fiancé is not!

So you blew the MAF hose off the throttle body? I did that recently too on my SCed B6 S4. I felt really dumb when I realized that was the problem.

I have a really big Home Depot clamp holding the MAF boot on the throttle body but it may get switched out for two thinner normal 7 mm screw clamps. Kind of like the inlet hose for the SC. There is no lip on the throttle body that will better hold the boot on with.

Yep. That exactly what happened. My bad for not explaining it very well. Still flustered. I was more relieved than anything. I have a pretty widebanded clamp on mine. Tightened her down pretty snug.

No issues now?

Thats a pipe dream…ha!

The most recent is resolved. I do have a squeaky s/c pulley and/or belt. Pretty much since I got her back. It is intermittent, but needs addressed.

Had some fun with a maserati sq4 today. Sure it was the 404 hp version with a twin turbo v6. Pretty heavy at 4500 lbs. Read a sub 5 sec 0-60 and a 13 second 1/4 mile. Not sure how into the pedal he was but my car was pulling on him while he couldnt leave me. Pulled off to get some ice cream. Pull back onto freeway cruising at speed limit and the passenger shrugged his shoulders as they rolled up next to us. I held up my ice cream cone. Let him go on his way.

Getting ready to flash an update to my tune. I gather I need to use a battery charger while doing this. Will any old portable charger from say sears (diehard) or box store suffice? Elementary question but want to be sure.

I ended up using my fully charged jump starter battery pack. Not sure if that was the right thing to do but I thought I’d throw in the suggestion.

I assume it should stabilize at some point? Most issues addressed? What is causing the most issues overall?

Honestly, I believe the biggest culprit to drivability issues was the loose maf to throttle body hose. It must have been loose for a while. Once it finally blew and reattached snugly, no maf code and associated abs/esp fault codes since.

Bought a portable charger. Going to try and upload my new file.

Thanks man. I am going to do just that as well.

If you have a voltage tester pull that out and during the flash you can check the batt voltage. You dont want it to drop into the 11 range. The entire reason you want to put a battery charger on the ECU during the flash is that if the batt voltage drops too low the ECU can brick and not be saved without a major hassle.

Most the time a small 2amp charge during the flash is more then enough to keep a healthy battery good.

The funny or maybe not so funny thing. That was an issue with the S4 guys as well. The throttle body boot would swell under pressure but it wouldnt quite come off the throttle body all the way. The car should feel a little better on power as well. Lots of the time the guys would get some boost loss.

Its nice to hear you got it found out.

Yeah hopefully he has a fastener or way to secure much better? Would zip ties work or would those melt from extreme heat?
