cylinder count dropping

We’ve had about 8" of snow in Toronto in the past 12 months. You guys are killing us for snow.

Not this winter, I’ve had about 10" at my house this year. Last winter was awful though, about 120".

It was 55*F yesterday. I just brought this storm back from Buffalo with me

The car looks great Beem.

We got a historic snow fall two weeks ago. I measured like 30 inches of snow. It shut down the DC area for like four to five days.

Threw the ECS hatch pop kit on last weekend, hoping it loosens up after some use.

Recently left warranty, gonna do a last check on 7Rs and if there are no good deals it’s tune time. The Cobb news had me hold off from grabbing an IE tune during their sale, gonna wait to waterfest to see what shakes out.

Some small updates

Popped in the Ziza interior LED kit, quite a change.

Grabbed some Yakima Whispbars, quite impressed with how quiet they are.

And finally found some of these. I was missing 1 and they’ve been discontinued for years. 4 year search iirc.

Nope, ran out a little while ago. Holding off on tuning until I decide on the MK7R and Cobb question

Great wheel!

looks good!

Thanks guys

Popped the VWR intake on, sounds great. Don’t really notice much on the butt dyno, but took before logs and will do the same after this week. May be hitting the dyno stayed at as well.

That looks nice; why cannibalize the rs3 sedan sales with this? I guess it is more usual or with hatchback especially if the us only gets a rs3 sedan

Ran some logs with the intake installed. The numbers support my butt dyno conclusion that it didn’t really add any go. Sounds awesome and is way more serviceable so still worth it IMO.

Isn’t this the general consensus all most all VW/Audi cars that their intakes already flow well enough that aftermarket ones don’t add much go?

Lookin good beem, do you miss the V8 growl?

I’ve never seen strong data supporting there’s much improvement. My main motivation here was to get rid of the awful stock engine cover/intake combo as it’s a pain to work around for other service.

I was pleased to see the air was cooler than stock. The design isn’t the typical open filter hot air intake so it’s not surprising.

And not really honestly, the R makes plenty of other fun sounds and its so much more nimble than my other cars.

Yeah, I’ve heard the Audi design is decent, I hear similar things about Porsches. Sometimes there are peak gains on a dyno etc., but in most cases in conditions that are not ideal the stock setup usually outperforms the rest

I think tweaking what already works might be best such as a better filter, and possibly finding ways to increase the flow of cold air without completely revamping the stock design.
