DSG tune from GIAC...

Correct, typically we work with VF for the supercharger kits. I know you have a word or two to say about that Saki hahaha.

I don’t think they have made much progress on a B8 kit…

Welcome to the forum Thomas…

I might engineer my own supercharger kit and who knows maybe I’ll find a shop to replicate it and you guys can tune it

If you need any help with CNC work for the housing and such, shoot me an email.

I don’t think they have maed much progress on ANY Audi kit for that matter lol

Someone from VF was calling all over trying to figure out who I was a few years ago. Specifically they focused on badgering JHM for my info because I bought a JHM tune and catback. Same thing happened from PES. JHM scoffed at their idiocy.

I’m sure people at some companies wll do the same about guys like primetime or clochner or anyone else who champions facts over fluff on the forums.

Ok awesome thanks man! I have a little plan if you want to PM your email.

Love this one… So an S4 with APR stage II is a “sluggish sport sedan” but if it’s GIAC stage II with the DSG tune it is “transformed an agile machine with lighting fast shifts” and “APR has nothing to compare, and I haven’t heard anything in the rumor mill that they are working on a DSG tune.”

Right… So when will these agile machines be posting some good 1/4 mile times? Temps are cooling down come on GIAC hit the strip show us some 11.5’s

that’s fucking absurd.

Last time I checked when my 420 hp RS4 lined up against 81bear and he had 5 car lengths on my by the time I hit 3rd gear, the LAST thing I was thinking was ‘wow…look how slugghish that stage 2 S4 is’

Yep… They 60ft slower but that’s because I cheated and adjusted air pressure… lol They trap slower but that is because I only run in good conditions, which is when I made all 220 passes… They ET slower but that is because I run at a “fast track”, you know Thompson that is at 1,230 feet compared to the 30 feet elevation that Sacramento is at…

Even if you cheated and adjusted tire pressure, there are a dozen guys making 1.7 60 foot times. Sluggish is what you’d call a tip A6 2.8 from 2001. Not a B8 S4 of any ilk.

I think he meant a stock S4 is a sluggish sports sedan and that APR has nothing to compare (since they don’t have a DSG tune)?? At least that’s how I read it? Why must it always turn into a APR vs GIAC debate… ???
I’m not going to argue… the numbers don’t lie and APR is faster. But the sample pool of GIAC Stg2 cars is also much smaller compared to APR, and it’s true since these tunes came out the weather has been la-shit.

Are you seriously saying/agtreeing that an S4 is a sluggish sports sedan? lol

Primetime’s point was simply that APR needs to do NOTHING to the ECU/TCU to match the explosive and agile DSG tune from GIAC…because it has been shown that even on their test cars, they’re not running any quicker or faster than customer APR S2 cars.

For this guy to say it transforms the car from a sluggish sedan is silly. He’s overstating the gains of the DSG tune to justify the purchase and pimp GIAC’s work. No offense to GIAC but I think the only beit of a DSG tune would be to make manual truly manual. DSG shifts fast, DSG launches fast. No need to improve those because they’re awesome. Making shifts more zippy is fruitless. 150 milliseconds to 100 milliseconds is indistinguishable. Not sure what this does but as I said, it’s not a major problem with the car that is being corrected.

Eliminating boost bleedoff? DEFINITELY a great idea. Improving AFR and adding a little timing safely? GREAT GAINS.

This DSG stuff though? No real point in my eyes. It’s a bit gimmicky. I wouldn’t be surprised if APR did this a while back and just realised it’s not worth it to stress the trans for nominal gains and big $$$ for customers to pay.

I’m not saying that, he did. ;D
It is by no means sluggish even stock…

edited. Are you agreeing with him and his assessment that it’s sluggish stock and dynamic and spirited when GIAC DSG flashed? As I said, I think the performance data shows that stock trans tune, the DSG car does just fine.

The car in stock form was far from sluggish and the DSG tranny is great in stock form.

Having been stock, then GIAC Stage 1, then GIAC Stage 2, and then getting the DSG flash, all I know is that the DSG tune compliments Stage2 very well and the car really comes to life. I have driven an APR Stg2 S4 and my butt dyno can tell you the GIAC feels like it pulls harder. I’m not talking numbers here, just how the car drives…
