DSG tune from GIAC...

You would think…

Now that I think about it, I believe one of the cars was a 6spd anyway.

Which one? I thought both 1fastscam and Austin were dsg.

B8 six speed is same mph per gear as my rs4.

Approximately:

40 in first
70 in second
100 in third
129 in fourth

Do we have in-cabin vids of their 1/4 mile passes? 1fastscam obviously has the capability to do that, given the videos he just posted on AZ.

I would say they didn’t use it/have it then… 1fasts4 hasn’t gone that I am aware of… The 11.8 was GIAC(not that 1fasts4 isn’t GIAC also)… They don’t seem like the type to BS and I know 1fasts4 can’t keep quiet about anything so if he had it he would have posted vids sooner… Just my .02

Saki, Curious why do you think this won’t help my 60’s?

Unless they can give me instant-on LC (no waiting 1,5 seconds), it will remain a feature and not a useful tool.

Raised redline is obviously at the top of my list.

Redline to 7200 in all modes, no-shift redline in manual, responsive manual control programming (full redline downshifts would be nice, also if you click 3 times fast it should ALWAYS give you 3 shifts, etc).

I would not care about the launch control.

why is that (re the delay)? RT is irrelevant for 99.99% of us at the strip

Everyone’s coming out with DSG all at the same time? NO WAY!!!

Except APR?

I usually enjoy your posts but maybe this time skip the snide comments and either release a DSG tune or let others do so in peace…

APR announced (quietly) that they were working on one at their dealer conference a few months back.

Lots of the companies are doing this sort of ‘we’ve got something coming!’ to try to stop people from buying competitor product. Common enough. APR has had ‘stage III’ coming for a year. Not that anyone’s close, but if PES or someone launches a rushed out kit, people will know that APR is coming, and will hopefully be patient enough to see what everyone offers.

Looks like the tools to tune ECU and TCU are available for anyone with a chequebook, so I reckon that is part of the sarcasm in Arin’s post…no wonder suddenly a plethora of tuning options are suddenly showing up.

For me, it still doesn’t change the fact that virtually nobody else is investing in the platform like APR. So I would support their development. They will all be competitive, but while GIAC or REVO is taking tuning profits and putting them into other tuning solutions for other platforms, APR is investing (or should I say, has invested) in the B8 platform hardware development.

APR is also still the fastest. Hands down.

Sorry, but pulling equity out of a project to subsidize or fund another is standard business practice. Not sure why we should hate on GIAC or REVO for only being tuners and not hardware people. Sometimes its best to stick with your core competencies.

Do me a favour…quote where I advocated hating anything.

I am talking about product development, and I suggested supporting the one company who has shown an interest in your platform on both the software side (before anyone else) and the hardware side, including the continued development of leading products.

I used to own a B7 S4 and the only company who really invested in the platform was JHM. They made it easy for us to decide who to buy from because they were able to distance themselves from the competition, but to be honest, if all else was equal for things like tuning, I can’t see a reason to support one of these software only companies…why not support the one company making a go of making the platform all it can be?

While the other guys have all moved on from the B7 S4, JHM is now making a built motor supercharged solution that will produce something in the order of 600 whp. How? Because when people buy their other products like software etc, it allows them to invest in hardware development.

If I owned a B8 S4, it would be really easy to buy APR.

I agree with virtually everything you’ve said. I’m a big fan of APR and its clear to me that they invest more into the B8 platform than anyone else. I had their software on my old B7 A4 and I always recommend them when asked. I decided to go with Stasis this time around solely because of their warranty.

I can also understand that comments like these were warranted back when all the “other” tuning companies released their tunes at suspiciously similar times and when APR already had a tune on the market. But, there’s no APR DSG tune on the market now. So calling out others when you yourself haven’t accomplished what it is you’re referencing, seems silly to me.

I don’t think it was a call out was it? Just seemed like he was making light of the sudden wave of announcements.

Like how 1fastS4, used the term we when refering to GIAC… Ken made sure to call him out… Thought he wasn’t an employee… LOL…

Worst part is they are going to put this out yet can’t fix problems that their current ecu tune is causing on DSG cars… Kind of ironic…

Come on primetime… 12.9 @ 107 is good isn’t it?
