I also requested his timeslip. Let’s see if he responds. Actually, I wish he’d come on here and respond. I’ve asked him to do so before. In my mind, a tuner shld not be taken seriously unless he posts on AR ;D
There is no hiding on AR. You srand alone. Comoanys with stuff to hide wont want that…not bashing giac…I think they would be smart to come here. Todd from awe has and I think awe has made a postive impact for doing so
Sure Brandon I have nothing to hide since I’m not in the business to sell tunes…
So after I got thinking about things I was going to go Wed. night and then pretty much changed my mind… But I got out of the office early and my brother was into it so I figured why not nothing else really going on… Got home and got everything ready when I realized I was down to 15 miles on the readout in gas… No biggie I have a few pails of URT so I’ll throw some in… I had told my brother about the whole online drama and as I was about to fuel up in the garage he says, why not run pump gas, as that would be an even bigger fuck you to them… I thought about it and knew I wasn’t setting any records tonight, URT is getting harder to come by for me anyway, and I knew I could get close but wasn’t sure I could cut a 1.6x 60ft time on 93 with such a high DA… When I went in April on pump I managed a 1.69 60ft time and a couple low 1.7x’s in a much better DA… So I decided to try it…
I had my video camera and figured we would make a fun little video for proof so as I filled up I had my brother tape it or so I thought… After we left and were almost at the strip my brother mentions something blinking in the middle of the screen as he taped, hmmm… I grabbed the camera and sure enough the wife had taken out the SD card as I have one for racing and one for vids of my son, so it was w/o a sd card… grrr… Oh well… Thus the reason for the picture of my air pressure vs a small vid… My dumb ass also forgot about the one in the gopro…
At any rate I made two passes before it was racing time…
I ran nearly an identical 2nd pass at 12.00 with a 1.71 60ft time… Car is so consistent… I could have probably stuck around for another hour as the DA dropped and made another pass but it was very crowded and they had closed the lanes for testing and were moving to the bracket race portion to it would have been a decent wait so we bailed…
DA was 1888 according to drag times but my weather station had it at 2005, but I’ll stick with the dragtimes #… Also, to be fair the car still had at least a gallon or two of GT260 when I put 3 gallons of shell 93 in it so it definitely wasn’t straight pump, but I did run the pump tune and 37psi all around! LOL! Ironically, no wheel spin… IMO the short times aren’t impacted nearly as much by DA as the overall MPH and ET… It does hurt some but just not as much, the fuel obviously makes a big power/timing difference… My brother wanted me to run the 100 tune but I wasn’t going to chance it… There is a TNT Sat. and Sun so I’ll run this tank near dry and run 100 if I get time and probably go Sunday… Will see… I’ll load the slip for proof unlike others do!
That’s awesome that you posted another 11 second time on pump gas in shitty DA.
Also +karma for the intention of making a nice video. Would have been funny.
All around you’re continuing to prove three things:
that the B8 S4 is a fucking insanely awesome and consistent performer
that launch control on a DSG B8 S4 is really not a requirement for success
that GIAC needs to go back to the drawing board because 37 PSI+1800 feet of DA+93 file = GIAC’s super-duper launch control time…on race…which they haven’t even shown us proof of.
Agreed. I don’t understand the reluctance to come over here and answer questions. This is my first Audi so my thoughts on tuners and companies is relatively fresh. I keep an open mind and hold no unrelenting loyalty to any company. APR was the first to make a tune for the A6 so I went with them. Their customer service and transparency has proved it to be a good decision. Stage III coming is just icing on the cake though I’m not sure my car will be enjoying that upgrade.
However, if GIAC were to come out with a Stage II + Tiptronic tune, I would definitely be interested in pursuing that route. Still though, their reluctance to come here and answer questions doesn’t help the cause. Don’t really see the harm just coming here and giving an answer or saying why you can’t answer.
Another 11 second time on pump! That is awesome. You would have probably set a new pump record if conditions were better.
And it really is amazing how consistent the DSG is. There’s barely a difference in ET between runs. Manual guys probably notice more variation when they make several passes on any given day.
People are scared to come here as competitors of JHM in the V8 world for example due to a perception they will be crucified no matter what the facts say. That’s simply untrue. The guys from TTS/MRC came over and were badgered for fluff, but when they posted the goods, everyone congratulated them here, and patted them on the back for kicking ass (and kicking JHM’s ass at the time). The members here who saw the goods then went on other forums (AW, QW, AZ) and supported TTS/MRC for their accomplishments.
If your shit works, you get support and this place isn’t so scary.
The same situation exists with respect to the B8 S4 and this site…it’s seen as a haven for APR and APR fans, and companies like GIAC, REVO etc. see coming here as a suicide mission. Reality? if your shit works, and you come here you will be lauded and applauded. If your shit doesn’t work, and you ask for help, you will probably get lots of good feedback. However if your shit doesn’t work and you come here like an idiot, yes, it is suicide.
audirevolution members just like legit companies with good products, service and support. That’s the end of it. The bullshit artists, and the bush league guys who blow up motors and don’t know what they’re doing…they don’t do well here lol.
yeah, that’s staggering. I keep looking at that and just wondering ‘why do people shit on these new dual clutch autoboxes???’
I love the concept of a dual clutch paddle shifted car. Frankly I don’t mind the paddle shifted tiptronic cars. I traded my manual B7 S4 with my buddies auto B6 for a week and loved it. So much more fun for attacking a race course, or street corners lol. I’m big on getting the ultimate performance out of something though…so if DSG is quicker and better for lap times, why fight it? It’s an advancement, and people need to let go of their emotional silliness. The whole ‘if it’s not a manual it’s not driving’ is bullshit frankly. I guess Formula 1 racers haven’t been driving for 9 years then.
With that being said, I love driving a manual and am disappointed to see the choices shrinking.
