EBWerks vid I just watched of their new exhaust.

btw…yes that is the prototype exhaust on bennie’s car

probably bc deep down inside he realizes that it sounds better than the production one.

cans make a difference

i can tell you all…there is no doubt the capristo has the most costly mufflers

the quality of the build on a capristo and mtm is very high.’

the jhm prototype was just that but they were built well. the welds were nice but not as nice as the capristo or mtm.

but we know the jhm does sound great and once they are release on a production basis i am sure they will be build well too.

the capristo is sold already but i should take some pics of the mtm next to the capristo…the mtm has the sharpest bends close to the mufflers and the jhm and capristo were relatively straight.

Thanks for sharing some of the smoke and mirrors of benriquewerks. Sounds like a lot of work they wanted from you. If they were serious they’d do the comparison themselves.

It also seems that zmon is happy with the JHM exhaust you sold him and you’ll be stoked with the MTM so it’s worked out well for you both.

no doubt. the reason i bought the jhm and this mtm is bc i knew they would be good on my car but also i knew i would always get my money back.

when i bought the capristo i paid good money for that one and am losing $100 but in the end it worked out no doubt. zach is a great guy and i am happy that he is enjoying it. i was holding off on the jhm bc it was $500 to install. i know i can do it myself but i really did not want to deal with the downpipes. also, i have been debating buying a diff car or another rs4 ie one that is brighter in color.

if i did not buy the mtm i would have installed the capristo since it is just catback…easy to put on and take off. but then the mtm came up and shit for $1500 there is no doubt i will not lose money on that exhaust. it cost about 4K for one.

i would have been happy with any of the exhausts i had bought but glad to sell the capristo since that was the one that put the biggest dent in my wallet.

You did really well on those classifieds

I like how elevens is shitting on you as is Jareds41 (micks right hand man) for buying the JHM, capristo and Mtm…

For what…for being smart? You will MAKE $1500 profit on those when all is said and done, and I bet you gave zmon a nice deal. 2500 to 3000 would have been fair.

i am pretty sure for the mtm i would be able to sell it for 2-3K fairly easy.

even if i loss money on the capristo it is all good.

haters going to hate.

i picked this up from a tuner in north jersey…took me about 1.5 hrs to drive up there last week and i was at their door at 8 am with cash in hand.

bought 4 oem rs4 wheels with near new tires on them

plus the mtm catback exhaust

it is all about timing/location and getting the money there asap. it just worked out for me…

again…haters going to hate…it does not bother me.

swesna - high frequency trader of exhausts! lol.

You guys paying these mentioned prices for cat backs? Insane. Absolutely insane.

Agree. I ended up getting my Milltek used for $300. I actually flinched when I first learned that most exhausts (outside of Magnaflow) were >$1500 for the RS4, and some were >$3500. But what shocked me the most was that people were spending this much and actually buying the $$$$ ones.

But hey, to each their own. I’m just very value-driven, or so I’d like to think.

It is mental…more mental than I think you are letting on
Other than magnaflow can you name ANY exhaust for the RS4 that is 1500 or less?

I think the cheap Milltek is like 2200…and everything goes up from there.

Snow trooper what do you think RS4 owners should be paying? I.e. for a high quality 2.75" mandrel bent system with good mufflers and tips? Even if someone custom makes one with a friend doing lots of the labor it is going to be upwards of $1000 if you pay your friend minimum wage.

Oh…and if you think RS4 shit is expensive, make sure you don’t look at the amg exhausts!

but these exhausts are made of unobtanium and welded with the flaming tears of Hephaestus, and installing anything less would be to defile the purity and class of the almighty b7 rs4

that must be the first god of fire reference in the history of car forums

can an RS4 owner measure how wide the hole is where the exhaust tips come out?

The sebring oval tip is 5.25 inches wide.

http://forums.quattroworld.com/rs4b7/msgs/88573.phtml

The tips on Bens car seem to only take up 3/4 of that muffler hole. that means the opening has to be 8 inches wide give or take?

Can someone with the JHM exhaust measure the tips to confirm they are in fact 5.25" wide?

sebring has a few oval tips. The ones on ben’s car are pretty small. I don’t think they’re the only ones they carry (obviously since the JHM ones are different).

p.s. did I really just see someone extolling the virtues of the EBHworks tips because they are 1 lb lighter than Sebring’s tips? Really? We’re talking about 1 lb of sprung weight? That’s when you know you’re clueless about performance.

it would be hard to get a custom made 2.75" exhaust made for less than 2K.

the parts and labor are costly.

i did first try and get a custom one made based on JHM pics and the guy told me if I can pick that up for 2500 i would be better off.

one issue with a custom one is you are not sure how the fitment will be or how it will sound…it is not proven.

obviously catback is/should be cheaper than full exhaust including downpipes with cats.

but on the catback there is no doubt you are paying highly for the mufflers on the capristo, mtm and i would assume tubi. there mufflers are built very well and they all sound great.

i think once JHM comes out with their production ready exhaust…that will be the best deal out there for sound, quality and performance.

i got lucky buying an MTM or JHM prototype for 1500 each…but those deals are not always there.

the magnaflow catback can be had all day long new for $750. it depends on what you are trying to get out of the exhaust.

one thing that was high on my list were valved exhaust which limits the exhausts available.

Every bit counts man!!!

when we go to the track i ALWAYS jerk off and blow my nose between runs…

some ppl could just go a diet and drop the total weight of driver and their car.

the whole weight savings discussion regarding benriquewerks exhaust is silly…it is lighter bc they have no cats, no resonators and more than likely lighter/cheaper mufflers.

for example, oem downpipes are very heavy…if you pick up a jhm downpipe with hfc vs and oem downpipe there is a huge weight difference.

zach aka zmon can validate that…i had him pick up both when he was here.

While I can agree that 1 lb of unsprung weight is trivial in the big picture, I do think that weight savings (as long as valued in the context of quality, performance, or price) is always a positive thing.

I used to roll my eyes when I heard about manufacturers hollowing out carpet fibers and what not to save ounces to a few pounds. But, when summed across weight savings attempts from multiple areas, it really does add up.

Couldn’t you just cut the valves from a stock system and have them welded onto whatever system you want?

That’s what I had planned on doing if I ever get another exhaust, so I hope so! haha

Yeah, don’t think that would work so I wouldn’t get my hopes up.

You would need transfer not just the valves but the actuators as well. After hacking up your nice aftermarket exhaust you will quickly realize that the valve flaps themselves are the diameter of the stock exhaust, so now you need to chuck those and start with something bigger.

By the time you are done with all of this, you have a hacked up aftermarket exhaust and several to many several hundred dollars in welding and fabrication expense.

If you want a valved exhaust, you should just buy one that comes that way. I have a non-resonated non-valved Milltek and I do miss the ability to quiet things down. But oh well.

i had to fix a computer in my wife’s hang out…bc the sound was not working

once i got it fixed, i tested it using a youtube video of an mtm exhaust

damn did that sounds nice

once i get it one then i will see if i ever close the valves or not.

currently with the stock exhaust…i dont see a need for them to be closed as it is not that loud.

i am sure more than likely they will be open most of the time.
